Food was great service was very poor. Ruined my experience for sure
Excellent food and service. The dining room can get a little loud during peak business hours, but that should not stop you from going. Each menu item is great. I recommend this place for any type of lunch or dinner. Mangia.
Our dinners were delicious. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The noise level was moderately loud but acceptable.
We are new to the SD area and had family in town visiting from Missouri and were trying to hit all of the townships in SD such as Gaslamp, Little Italy, Old Town, North Park, Hillcrest for dining. We were glad we chose this location in Little Italy. Service was great and the temperature and quality of food was great. They even provided complimentary desert with tiramisu for us belong military which my wife loved! Definitely will come back.
Excellent food and our server was very attentive.
The inside is fairly small. It was fairly busy and a bit more noise than we wanted so we sat outside.
Everything was perfect.
My third time visiting and love it each time.
I was in San Diego on a business trip and just decided to go to this fantastic restaurant and was so surprised how amazing the food was. I had the black pasta with seafood and it was outstanding! The service was fantastic as well. I will definitely go back next time I’m in San Diego.
Great food and service. Needs a bit of a decor upgrade or refresh but the food and service make up for it!
Great food and great service! Recommend making reservations as it is a small quaint restaurant with lovely ambiance.
A little hard to hear the waiter on the specials, but was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to help us with choices we had! Marco was amazing
Unique and special Italian food. Tons of pasta and meat dishes that go well beyond the typical Bolognese, Alfredo, and Marinara sauce options. Tried 3 items from the specials menu and they were all great. The grilled octopus over arugula salad was fresh and lightly seasoned with EVO and lemon juice, the Parpadelle with wild boar ragu was slow roasted and so flavorful, and the lobster ravioli in a light cream sauce was delicate and tasty. Paired with a nice selection of wines, the food was some of the best I have had in San Diego at prices that won't break the bank. The building and tables are simple and a little crowded but the service and food could not be better in this neighborhood gem.
Cute place, a little on the cramped side. But the food is worth it!
We have dined here several times before and always had much better service and food. Our waiter was just unfriendly with zero personality. My veal piccata was okay not great, carrots nearly raw , the veal not tender. My wife’s Fantasia salad with chicken breast was disappointing as the chicken was very dry and tough. ( I tasted it) she enjoyed the fresh salad but left most of the chicken
The waiter was not attentive, never once checking on our meal. We had to ask another waiter to bring us second drinks. Of course he was all smiles when he brought the check. We come to little Italy a couple of times per year for a few days and look forward to our time and great food. With so many other places, we are unlikely to return to this restaurant.
The menu has many strange combinations. I order the Sea Bass however the tomato source was very overpowering and you could not taste the Sea Bass. My wife had a soup and it was very watery. The table where we sat was supper small. More like for drinks and an appetizer not to put a bottle of wine and the wine and water glasses plus the bread plates and the bread. We could not even move. The service was slow and not friendly.
This is a wonderful restaurant to have a delicious, not rushed, meal. It is good for business lunches and for friend lunches.
We loved this place and immediately made another reservation. Our waiter was outstanding, funny, warm and attentive without hovering. Salads were great, as was the cioppino and the swordfish! While it was noisy at first, it calmed down and we could hear each other. Lovely, lovely, don't miss this!
Our server was fantastic, gave us ideas on what to have, both food and wine. Our party of 4 had different meals and each claimed theirs was the best, tho mine was clearly superior. Both the duckling and the noodles were amazing.
Delicious food and service. Highly recommend this place in Little Italy.
Food was quite nice, but they pack too many people onto the street patio.
Servers and guests constantly bumping me as I tried to eat.
We had a reservation. Seated us as soon as we arrived. All dishes came out fast. Waitress was dome what friendly. Tables a little tight. My wife ravioli she said was very good. My veal was little tough. My vegetables just warm. Bread plus sauce was excellent. The cannolis were real good.
Really fantastic food - pappardelle ragu was perfectly seasoned (not too salty, al dente pasta). My fiancé had the Ravioli Con Salmone, which was creamy without being too heavy. Great atmosphere in the middle of a bustling Little Italy. However, if you’re looking for the FULL experience of a restaurant on a special occasion, the service leaves something to be desired.
Very rushed from beginning to end, including bringing over the cheque when it wasn’t asked for (we were there for maybe 35 minutes at this point and had just received our coffees). Food runners dropped our plates off without much care.
But again! Food is really great and Little Italy is awesome. Would maybe go back again after trying out other restaurants in the area.
It was a nice place, very tight fit, but nice.
We went for Valentine’s Dinner. The food was good. My only complaint is that we did not get asked if we wanted more bread on the table and that some of the food items in the menu were not available.
It was our 54th Wedding Anniversary, we asked to be seated at their other restaurant Sogno di Vino, which is usually quieter, we love babies, but this one was not happy, and we couldn’t here each other, but they were very nice to change our seating to Buon Appetito. Thank you so much! Our service and dinner was very good. They brought us a piece of tiramisu with candle to celebrate! Lovely evening!
Delicious Food! We will be back - Osso Buco, Swordfish, Salmon pasta and Filet with peppercorn sauce were all super yummy! Also, love the sauce they serve with the bread. So tasty...
Great Italian food at a reasonable price. I had the seafood linguine which contained a lot of fresh tasting seafood. The noodles were also very fresh. The tiramisu was delicious. Our server, Michella, was very friendly, efficient and attentive as was the worker who assisted.
Excellent food and great service. This is a small restaurant and very loud when full.
The main issues were related to the server and some of the noise in the restaurant. Our waiter was not very attentive, did not really smile, and came by maybe 3 times....not very pleasant or engaging.
The other issue was we were seated at table for 2 near a wall...which may have been adjacent to the kitchen area. Ans at certain times there was a loud "thud" as if something was being dropped on the floor. Due to obvious size of whatever it was, it created a reverberation to the wall and was fairly loud.
Overall, food was good and fairly satisfactory experience
Loved our table by the window! Thank you for such a nice evening.
Excellent food and service.
The food was wonderful and the service even better! Thank you!
Meeting long time friends from out of town
Good food, large portions . Nice selection of wines.
Excellent food and service! A+ The place was packed on Sunday night!
Service started off well then we were left at the table waiting and waiting for our server to help with a problem with our meal that was sent back. Food was not was it used to be. Lasagne was literally drowned in a bowl of marinara sauce and their “white”’sauce was average, something that I used to love. :-(
Buon Appetito is an outstanding Italian restaurant. They serve pasta along with other Italian dishes BUT the filet mignon cannot be beat anywhere in San Diego. If you are going to dine at Buon Appetito then don't miss one of the most outstanding steaks served anywhere on the West Coast.
Great food but waaaaaay too loud. Hard to hear people sitting right next to you. Will keep me from coming back much.
