Bully's East Prime Bistro Sports Bar
Bully's East is conveniently located in the heart of Mission Valley. As you enter, you feel the warmth of the rich mahogany bar. Locals have been gathering here for four decades to enjoy their favorite beverages and great bar food. It's also the perfect place to view a sporting event. Since its establishment, Bully's East has served more prime rib than any other San Diego restaurant, preparing only USDA Choice, Midwestern, corn-fed, aged beef. It also offers many healthy dining options. Chef Luis Martinez and his culinary staff continually create new dishes, taking advantage of the freshest local produce and seafood to bring diners the best possible culinary experience. Enjoy fine dining in this relaxed environment with over 45 years of experience and tradition. Make sure you save room for Bully's sinful desserts like the Chocolate Lava Cake.
If you don't mind having dinner with loud bar noise this place would suffice.
I've enjoyed the beef at Bullys for years. The last several visits I've had fish. They really do seafood well. I had Seabass and it was delicious. So often seafood is over cooked. The chefs at Bullys know what they're doing.
Food and service really good and the place could use a face lift and light.
This place used to be so good. Terrible service and mediocre food. Won’t be returning.
My wife and I both ordered blackened prime rib same size. Her cut was considerably bigger than my cut. My cut was overly salted but still fine while her cut was perfectly seasoned. All the sides were excellent and service was great.
Valentine’s Day dinner date with my daughter. The shrimp cocktail wasn’t cleaned properly. My prime rib was amazing. My daughters king crab tasted like it has sat out for a while
Food tasty. Food not as ordered. Prime rib over done, but tasty. Good amounts to eat. You won't go home hungry. Good meal, not great this night.
Ordered the prime rib (which was over priced) came out cold, manager walked over and I told him, he said “I’ll get you a new one.” Came back with the same plate and prime rib, just microwaved. So now it was pretty much a microwaved cooked chewy prime rib. Was a huge disappointment for Valentine’s Day dinner.
Wonderful in every way! What a way to spend a Valentine’s Day. My wife and I used to eat at Bully’s regularly during our courtship years back in the 70s. That was always such a memorable experience, and everything tonight was every bit as good as it was during those momentous years!
Just another great day at Bully's
It took a half hour for the waitress to take our order. The steak on the salad was very tough, raviolies too salty, and the prime rib was just okay. It seems like the quality of food has gone down over the years
Normal for Bully’s that is why we always come back
Have dined at Bullys for many years. Was once very good but has fallen a long way since it's prime.
I love their tossed cobb salad. I have been ordering this salad for years and it is always fresh and delicious. I like, that it has chicken and steak tossed in the salad.
We came to enjoy the prime rib and it did not disappoint. The service was great BUT we made a reservation to come to celebrate a birthday and the booth we were given was right next to the kitchen. We kept hearing “do you have a Caesar salad for me? Did you hear me, did you hear me?” Got old fast... and made it difficult for us to visit.
Excellent service. Friendly wait staff. Love the quiet atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation! The food is consistently very good. One of our favorite restaurants in San Diego.
The server was very kind and great.
It was Superbowl Sunday and very few people there so with that being said you'd have thought the service would have been better, but it wasn't. The charcuterie board for an appetizer was aweful. Stick to the beef sliders, prime rib etc...
Very disappointed in the prime rib 3 of us had, only 1 out of our group of 4 enjoyed their meal!
Had the Teriyaki Steak and Enchiladas for the first time - they are OUTSTANDING! This will be my "go to" dish from now on!
A business should not complain about minimum wage laws and attach surcharges. It’s a slap in the face to workers that you really want to pay them less.
It was ok. We were seated back by the kitchen and water area so we heard everything the kitchen folks were discussing. The food was pretty good but I’d get the filet next time - the sirloin was a little tough.
This is truly an outstanding San Diego traditional steak house. Prime rib is the best in the County. Family-owned and operated, the staff is well-trained; the wine list very affordable; the portions are not skimpy; and we had a wonderful family anniversary dinner. Couldn't be happier.
Our French onion soup was lukewarm. The macaroni and cheese was bland, the beef sliders had a weird sweet jam on them. It might be good it it wasn't sweet. My wedge salad had fake bacon and no blue cheese the blue cheese dressing was not tasty and lacked blue cheese chunks. My grilled fish sandwich was just plain nasty.
We had a nice booth in the bar to watch the football game and our server was fine and pleasant. Otherwise it was not good and I would not go back.
Best Prime Rib around!!
Great! Love Bully’s
The prime rib was great - perfectly seasoned and cooked. Waitress and busboy very attentive. Reasonably priced happy hour drinks.
HORSERADISH CRUSTED PRIME RIB WAS NOT BEST CHOICE. WAS TOO MUCH BREADING AND RUINED PRIME RIB OVERALL. SERVICE WAS REALLY GOOD. JUST A BAD CHOICE BY ME I GUESS
-Unusual smell—perhaps the carpets need cleaning. Smells like stale beer, perhaps? The price seemed steep for the portion size, though the steaks were perfectly cooked. Service met expectations.
Always a great spot. Server was attentive, Pete the GM was charming. Will be back!
This our second time going there Service was great and food was delicious
Our server Stephanie was awesome!! The manager came by to make sure all was great.
If you are not into fancy, then this is your place, the food is good, service was a little slow, but not that big of a deal.
The wait for our food was way too long. While we were waiting, our waitress never can in to check on us. My co-workers and I were very disappointed in the service. when we finally received our food, it wasn't hot. Every year my co-workers and I try to visit new places for our annual Christmas lunch and as I said we were very disappointed. As for recommending, I would but only if the service was better.
Prime Rib and desert was excellent. Service was OK partly because it seemed to be a slow night and late in the evening. We were the last table to leave.
Overall it was a good experience.
I read other reviews but wasn't deterred by negative comments. You won't know until you try it right?
Temperature of food on one dish ranged from cold potatoes to a country fried steak that scalded the roof of my mouth and burned me (my eyes watered) terrible. The prime rib hash, potatoes were not cooked all the way some were cold and it was bland. The bulky charbroiled burger, bun was cold meat tasted okay but it was not cooked as requested "well done" throughout. The silver dollar pancakes tasted like napkin paper, and the soda was flat ice had an off taste. The staff was friendly. But one of the plates didn't come out complete and when we asked for the side of sourdough it took a while so did the check. Place looks clean, food was not worth the money.
Service was slow, my enchiladas were cold. Took server awhile to take our order.
Always love Bully's. They were quite busy, but we were seated and had great service. The food was delicious and came out timely and hot.
The last time I was at Bully’s East was probably 35 years ago. It will be another 35 years before I return. The food was good...not great, but what you would expect from an old school steak house. My cocktail was good, and they have a decent wine selection. I had prime rib, a baked potato and green salad. All well prepared, although a little bland. The ambiance was, again, what one would expect from an old steak house. My complaint about our meal was that the server was polite, but not friendly (maybe having a bad day?), and the food runner was downright rude. When the food was delivered, my friend asked for ketchup for her fries, and the food runner huffed and came back with the ketchup and put it down on the table hard and turned on her heels and walked away. Obviously, we had asked for the world! Not impressed with the visit...Unlikely to visit again.
