Excellent food and great ambience! We came here on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing.
We had a great evening at Brussels Bistro. The service was great and we loved the blue cheese mussels and fries!!
My wife and I have eaten here often. Food taste and quality have declined. It may have been an off night.....but the food was not as good as usual. My favorite item the crab cake has been removed from the menu. We will return to the bistro...primarily because it is a good local spot.
I would highly recommend Brussels Bistro. My steak came out much rarer than I would have liked, so they took it back and made me another one. The service was excellent. It was a little on the pricey side, so it's definitely more of special occasion place.
Great mussels with a variety of sauces. Friendly helpful service with a smile. Authentic Dutch bitterballen were fabulous.
Excellent food, but a bit pricey. Service per usual was terrific.
Excellent food and service. Great Vegan options as well.
The food we had ---burger, leg of lamb, mussels in wine sauce, beef stew--- were fine but none of them knocked us out. The fries were a big disappointment. I have been to Belgium and the fries here don't do any justice to the famous double fried Belgian fries. The service, however, was top notch. We had part y of 6 and the wait staff was on point. They brought us the food right away and took care of all our requests (soda refills, a side of mayo, etc.) immediately. The food is just too pricey for what you get. You're paying for the Laguna location , not for great food.
The atmosphere is great. Cozy and friendly...loved that it was below street level. The beet salad was amazing. My husband had the sautéed shrimp appetizer it was very good. I had one of the appetizer specials - mushroom toast and it was delicious. Their bread is amazing. We shared a big ole pot of steamed mussels with Belgium fries. We could barely finish them all. Our waiter was very nice and the table service was amazing from all of the staff. Wonderful experience.
Excellent food and service. Our favorite eating spot when visiting Laguna Beach.
Brussels Bistro is a very nice casual local place which is inviting and offers European fare with an extensive choice of beers. I left my beer choices to Pierre who set me up with a nice sampler flight that met my tastes for pilsner/lager types of beers. We even had escargot to boot! Pierre was very attentive and friendly which made our meal that much more special.
Great selection of authentic Belgium beer. The food was prepared perfectly. The service isn’t comfortable. They aren’t warm or inviting and seem bothered by any requests. It is Laguna so maybe that’s it. The fries were nothing special, but the waffle was outstanding!
Authentic Belgian Cuisine with mussels, Belgian fries and Leffe beer, all you can eat specials.
Awesome food, great service and a lively atmosphere.
Great food. Pork chop cooked perfect. Creative menu. Nice location. Great staff.
Happy to find this little gem. Great service! Their mussels and french fries are outstanding. I'm already looking forward to going again.
Brussels Bistro is the best restaurant in Laguna Beach. The service, food and ambiance is exceptional. The staff is warm and friendly always making you feel at home. They have a wide range of Belgium Beers. If you are a fan of mussels and French Fries Brussels is the place to go. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for excellent food, drink and service.
Consistently wonderful food and service. One of our friends ordered the Quinotto - your spin on Risotto - and it was a delicious vegetarian dish: flavorful, creamy, great texture. The rest of us savored three flavors of mussels and the gruyere burger, the mushroom soup (which I happily enjoyed sans pastry top), and the endive salad. Matthieu was his usual charming self, Oscar attentively assisted us throughout the evening, and Thomas the always gracious host. The updated interior and menu (from a few years ago) are nice improvements. The classic favorites are still there. Oh! And one cannot forget the mousse au Chocolat! Mmmmm!
We made reservations and when we arrived we were told our table was not ready. We waited 10 minutes and they brought us to the smallest table in the restaurant which was really a table for 2 that they added a third chair. The restaurant was so crowded that we would have been bumped into every time the waiters went by as the table was set up in the aisle. It was almost as if they forgot about our reservation! We have eaten at this place before and always loved it but they should have saved a table for us since we made a reservation on Open Table.
Food was good as usual. Just a little disappointed because no bread was served with steak tartare which needs some form of toast or bread to eat the dish.
Visit Belgium without the hassle of air travel. Brussels Bistro is a great place for authentic Belgian food and beer. Try the mussels, Belgian Fries, and waffles (savory and sweet). Although everything we seem to order turns out fantastic. It's fresh and made with top quality ingredients. They have a wide range of Belgian beer on tap too. If you're celebrating your birthday, you're in for quite a surprise!
Adorable can’t believe we have not tried it before now! Maybe because of it’s street visibility, it’s subterranean but you would never know from inside it’s charming. Tried the Tuesday night mussel deal. If you love mussels and trying different broths this is you spit. Also enjoyed endive salad and octopus carpaccio, made from loaf styled slices. Never seen that before but it was great. Server was lovely and explained dishes and special beers they have most helpfully.
Went on Tuesday for all you can eat mussels. Yhey were good, but not as big and meaty as the first time we ate there. Could it be that they offer the smaller mussels for the Tuesday night special? House chardonnay was nice.
I ordered beef stew. Meat was a bit greasy.
Everyone enjoyed their meals, it was quaint inside, and the waiter was great. Would go back again.
Ordered large pot of mussels with frites, Cesar and wine. Great for groups or dates, cosy atmosphere and close to other laguna activities.
Valentines Day dinner. Brussels was excellent.
Seat near the door in the patio area. The soft wall or hanging divider keep hitting my date whenever other patrons enter the door. Very annoying. Otherwise the food is great, the service is good - typical European feel.
Great authentic food, hearty, nice ambiance seating by the fire and one section has outdoor
seating, great service, friendly, nice wine, beer and cocktail selections, we'll be back.
I don't normally keep reviewing places I frequent, but the pork chop special was so delicious, I had to say so. If you haven't tried this wonderful place yet, hurry! My husband and I visit often, and we've never had a mediocre meal. My personal favorites are the endive salad and any dessert with chocolate. Love the cheese croquettes, crusty European style bread, and the frites (fries).
Dinner at Brussels Bistro was disappointing. The Belgian Fries could have been obtained at McDonalds. The beef in the "Beef Stew in Leffe beer with vegetables" was of poor quality and the "Beef and Pork meatballs Liege style" was prepared with too much salt. The quality of the meal did not justify the moderately high price. The receptionist at the restaurant originally informed Open Table that we "were not seated" until I corrected her. Will not return and not recommended.
We decided to dine here to celebrate valentines day based on their good looking dessert menu. Everything was fantastic. 5 stars and no negatives. I can't wait to go back.
The food is amazing and we love this place, but the courses came too quickly! Before we had finished the starter our main meal turned up! They didn’t even ask if we were ready for it, they just dumped it on the table!
They need to review this as made us feel that they want you to eat and go!
Our server - Luigi was fantastic! Knew the menu and specials. Made great beer recommendations.
The restaurant is very cool and is serving food no other restaurants in the area are serving. We had an excellent server, unfortunately, I didn't catch his name. FYI... they do have a full bar and a wine list.
Great food, wonderful waiter, will go back soon!!
We went back here again after the first time because we really liked the mussel steam pot. however, this time is a bit disappointed! The mussels are not fresh at all and it smells quite bad. Maybe just a bad luck day!
Service is good, staffs are attentive.
Excellent. Had clients visiting from Belgium and they were impressed with the desert, food, and beer.
Best meal of their 2-week stay in U.S. Great atmosphere and enjoyed speaking with the waiter in French
Afraid I am little help on the wine selection, though there is an excellent selection of Belgian beers. There are always traditional Belgian entree's on the menu, but I have rarely ventured from the mussels. That's why I come here; for the mussels and the beer, Umm! My wife really likes the escargot. Don't panic! You can get a nice Belgian burger and the Belgian fries are delicious. The atmosphere is continental casual.
Amazing as usual! One of our favorite spots!
