Bru Burger Bar - Lexington Ratings and Reviews
This was the 1st time using Open Table, and was apprehensive to use an app to make a reservation. However, we arrived on time and they had us listed perfectly. No waiting involved and had a great experience overall.
Had the weather not been as cold, we would have taken advantage of the outdoor seating area. We will certainly be back and often!
Our waiter stopped coming by and after about an hour we had to ask for the bill. We were not offered refills on drinks or dessert. The table was right in front of the window with blinding light and it was pretty noisy. Not a good spot. The salads were very good.
Overall fair. Bill adds up fast as for 3 of us for dinner with 2 beers, appetizer and 3 burgers was $65. My beer glass was cracked which I didn't notice until I was drinking from it. I mentioned it to the waiter and he replaced it with the exact same amount of beer in it. No apology. I wouldn't make a special trip to eat here again.
Ordered a gluten free bun for a burger and after eating half of my burger I realized the bun may not be gluten free. I asked the waiter if there was a mistake because I needed gluten free and he laughed and said "no I forgot....why did you eat it?". I told him I didn't understand why he was laughing and he said "are you seriously mad about it". Enough said. If he'd have said it was an accident and he was sorry it'd have been OK but to laugh about it and challenge me about having an issue by asking if the meal was served correctly is a large issue. Dinner was free but that they didn't care if I had a food allergy is very disappointing. I go twice a month and probably won't go again. I used to recommend the place but will definitely tell people to not go anymore.
The food was good. I did see from other reviews that they tend to under-cook the hamburgers, so I advised my family and they adjusted their requests accordingly. I ordered mine medium and there was definitely still pink but I was o.k. with that. I saw someone at a table near us send her hamburger back because it was under-cooked.
Our service wasn't great--waiter forgot to put our appetizer order in. On the plus side, he confessed it was his fault but by the time he figured that out our food arrived (about 45 minutes after we had arrived.) They gave us the appetizer for free in a to-go box but it wasn't really the same. Mistakes happen so not a huge problem but it definitely impacted our overall reaction to the restaurant.
I went to Bru Burger for Burger Week and enjoyed the Sriracha Burger. Very good! The service on the other hand was sub-par. The server was a young man who had no 'table side manner' whatsoever. I had been to BruBurger before and find the food is always very good. Yes, I will go back next time I want a good burger.
This was my first time after hearing about it on Bluegrass Chefs show on TV. All the food was very, very good. You could tell it was all fresh and from scratch. I ordered the END hamburger. It had an over-easy egg on it. It was delicious but it was so messy with the egg yoke that is just fell apart. We shared a healthy sized order (I mean LARGE) of strawberry cheesecake. I am not a fan of cheesecakes, but this was fabulous.
The wait staff was top notch and it's very nice and spacious inside. Even though other people were around us, we didn't notice much noise.
I would have liked to have eaten on the patio but the sun was in people's faces. They had umbrellas-----not enough coverage, but at 5:00 on a May afternoon, the sun was too much.
I will be going back again.
What a great place for a lunch get together with friends. We all ordered different burgers, and we were all happy with our choices. The food was great, and we beat the Sunday crowd, so it was fairly empty when we got there, but filled up nicely before we left. We would definitely return next time we are in Lexington.
Wait staff were friendly and handled special requests with accuracy and with a can do attitude.
Manager also came by the table to check on service and comfort of the guests.
Use of Open Table allowed for nearly zero wait time; we were seated immediately.
Hostesses were polite and helpful.
YUM! I eat a burger about once a year. A real burger...not fast food junk. I had a plain hamburger and mmmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm...I ate every bite! And the fries. My mouth is literally watering as I type this....so freaking good! Really, wonderful. Enjoyed the food so much!
Living in Louisville, we don't always get the opportunity to dine out in Lexington, but the last three trips to the area, we have made a point to stop and eat at Bru. The service, atmosphere, and burgers are great! Compared to other gastro-pubs, the prices are reasonable. Even more so than others part of the Cunningham umbrella. I would enjoy seeing Bru open a location in East Louisville.
