Brown's Beach House - The Fairmont Orchid - Kohala Coast
Returned a third time to this incredible dining and ambiance experience. Food and service impeccable. View and sunset the best, ever.
As expected a great evening again, a wonderful dinner with friends. Soft background music made conversation easy.
Everything very nicely done. Venison was outstanding. Good value, too.
We sat outside during sunset with live music. Fabulous. We both had the fixed price menu (app, entree, and dessert) with paired wines. It was all delicious.
This is a beautiful place. The atmosphere is perfect, and the weather made being outside perfect too. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I had the Kona Lobster, which is expensive, but delicious. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a really special experience.
Amazing dinner in a spectacular setting!
We had a wonderful meal at Brown's Beach House. The location was beautiful, food delicious, service very friendly. It was our one special occasion meal of our week on the Big Island, and did not disappoint! Most of us ate fish and one had lamb, and we found our dishes very beautiful and tasty.
Outstanding! Lobster was best ever! Waitress was perfect! Recommend!!
We had Christmas Eve dinner here. It was a wonderful experience. The food was outstanding and our waiter was so attentive and made sure we were doing well. He even gave us some cookies to bring back to our house since Santa was visiting that evening. The setting on the water was on point. It was about as perfect as a night could be!
Everything was perfect. Service was flawless, food was amazing and view could not have been better. Highly recommend.
I am glad we went. They are also dog friendly. Awesome margaritas and the food was delish.
Kitchen is doing very well these days. Dishes were imaginative and well-executed. And the service was superb. Expensive, however.
We have been coming to the big island for years, every year. We always make it a point to visit Browns. I’ll have to say, everything was great except the service. We ordered the fixed price dinner with wine pairings. The food came, no wine. Took so long we said forget the wine. No water refills, had to ask for it. Browns; you are way off your game, you need to step it up.
This is very beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere with fabulous ocean front.
The Filet Mignon was worth every dollar....amazing!!
The entertainer was perfect! Especially playing Christmas songs Hawaiian style.....If you want a special experience at this location...GO!
Food is good, but add $100 for the stellar ambiance and great service
Wonderful food and service. My wife and I ate there for the first time although we’ve spent weeks in Mauna Lani for ten years. We’re kicking ourselves for not having come sooner. My wife had two starters, including lobster tails and I chose prawns and kampachi. All were incredible. The chocolate dessert topped it off very well. Even the decaf was excellent. We chose a Shiraz by the glass; first rate and served in elegant Scott Zeisel Burgundy glasses. It was a bit pricey but not horrible for Hawaii. Alice, our server was the best. Can’t wait to make Brown’s a habit.
Worst meal on the island.
We enjoyed a great meal with our excellent Waiter, Bruce. The staff understands gluten free. Thanks
It’s a hotel restaurant so the price point is a bit high. Crab encrusted hamachi tasted less than super fresh & the seasoning enhanced neither the fish nor crab.
The staff is attentive & the ambiance decent but not spectacular.
The meal was extraordinary. The outdoor dining experience was exceptional. Our server, Christian, rose to the occasion in every way.
Went there for the first time on Saturday night food was amazing. Service on the other hand was meh. Got seated by our server who was confused where the table was. Server never said anything about the specials that I over heard the server next to us offer to the other table. Also if she was a new server make sure she knows how to server a bottle of wine without dripping on the table especially when the bottle is over $100+ . Overall Was good just constructive criticism.
Wonderful food and service, albeit pricey! Loved the garlic prawns and steamed clams, yumm!
We are enjoyed everything about our meal. The Poke was the best I had on the island. Our servers were very attentive without being intrusive. And the setting was lovely.
Amazing meal but the service was beyond amazing! Also fully accommodated everything for my wife who has celiac disease.
It was my birthday and we noted it in our reservation on open table, told the hostess and server. When the server asked if we wanted any else while dropping the bill, we had to mention for the fourth time it was my birthday. A birthday sorbet was dumped on the table with the bill.
We noticed a manager looking woman going by the other tables asking guests how their food and service was. She ignored us(4 women).
The food was one notch above awful, and very pricey.
The setting was the reason we chose this venue and the hotel grounds are lovely.
The food was really good, right on the water, service was great. Everything you hope from a high end restaurant!
Twice a year we come to Browns at the Fairmont Orchid. We have very high expectations due to the price and they always exceed our wishes. Well worth the money for a special dinner. They won't disappoint. Bravo
Outstanding everything was perfect but venison slightly overdone. Otherwise exceptional
Service is top rate and the food is outstanding.
The best staff in Hawaii and great fresh food, nearly all local.
Delicious food in a beautiful ocean front setting with soft, local music to enjoy while dining.
Beautiful water views and maybe sunset if you’re at the right angle. Food was delicious (tuna tartare, shrimp and lobster) but prime sirloin had a lot of gristle which made the edible portion small.
Good wine list by bottle and by the glass.
Local musician didn’t play any Hawaiian music, but he was good and we enjoyed listening to him.
Only complaint was the parents that let their kids run around on the grass in front of the tables and musician. They were disruptive.
Fairmont Orchid is a beautiful property and we enjoyed the evening.
Great, my brother was visiting and the night was superb.
It was my husbands birthday. We showed up early, around 5
The menu is too limited and the portion sizes are very modest. Food quality high but they must be more generous in their entree options and give larger helpings to make it more attractive to diners.
