Great food, great service, great ambiance and views. Outdoor dining in great weather. The whole package!
This continues to be our favorite place for dinner. Having a great meal in that environment around sunset is terrific! Frank was our waiter and was stellar! We had the compressed watermelon salad which had great flavors and was a refreshing way to start. I had the filet, which I didn't plan on and it was superb. My wife had the local catch which was the Mahi Mahi and she loved it as well. Live music was excellent, but perfectly blended into the background. I recommend Brown's to anyone, but plan ahead as reservations can fill up weeks in advance.
Brown's does not disappoint. Wonderful table with view of sunset, great food and service and bonus, Nino for entertainment! Can't be any better that.
Until next time...
A very nice restaurant right on the ocean. Short menu. Filet mignon (which I had) was very tender, my wife had mahi-mahi which she enjoyed. Little pricey but to be expected. Staff was friendly. Excellent service!
The setting was spectacular. The food was outstanding. Service was excellent. I am not one to give out 5 stars easily but this restaurant really deserves it. This place is not to be missed!!!
Best waiter ever …Christian! Food was good but so so expensive. Had the specialty cosmo which was POG based… too sweet! The filets were a highlight. Christian made our 5 year old grand daughter feel like a princess! Beautiful beach side setting and great live music.
Waitress Janice was awesome and food and table also great.
Always great food, service and ambience.
The setting is amazing as it was the last time. Being In Hawaii we believed there would be some seafood choices. There was one. We all ordered steak which was disappointing from an expectation point. The food was good but in comparison to the cost for the quality we have had much better for less. We know the expense of eating at a fine establishment like this and look forward to our meals. However this was disappointing. The menu was quite limited. The service was excellent the view was gorgeous. There are several places I would go to before I go there again for less. I hope that in the future they are able to improve.
Beautiful setting. The food left a lot to be desired. The strawberry salad included broccolini which wasn’t a great combo, the goat cheese needed to be tangier to match the strawberries. The tuna was nice but the sauce with it was very salty. The kids Mac and cheese was cold. It was a disappointing meal but a pretty place. There was live music which was nice.
Always great ambiance food and service.
Wonderful place for dinner. Great viewing of sunset. Purple sweet potato bread, Five Spice Duck, and sweet potato hash was succulent. A truly memorable experience.
Really special beach side dining. Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, great service.
Dinner was great! Plenty of options to choose from, almost too difficult to pick something to eat! Our server Radim was WONDERFUL! So friendly, suggested the best options on the menu and made our night. Thanks for such a wonderful experience and amazing food!
Very professional staff, attentive service, great ambiance and talented culinary team. Recommend.
Everything was amazing! It exceeded our expectations. The food, drinks, live musician and ambiance. I highly recommend!
Beautiful setting great location. Attentive staff, great food
Browns is perfect except there is no lighting on the musicians. It’s very odd to have them playing in the dark. There used to be lighting - are thy broken? It’s also not respectful to have the musicians in the dark. We were there 2 nights this week and everything else was wonderful. First class experience.
A spectacular experience. We enjoyed our oceanfront table, and associated oceanside surroundings.
Our server Frank was outstanding and was always there when we needed anything.
We enjoyed the Kona prawn and strawberries appetizers, and duck breast and tempura ahi entrees paired with excellent wines.
thank you Browns for making this our special place.
Delicious food and very accommodating staff. Would highly recommend and will certainly come again next time I’m on the big island
Nice ambiance with live music and great service, but the food was just good and not outstanding.
It was nice!
Hit all the marks and we are quite picky. Just fabulous on food, ambience and service. Will be back!!
Food was amazing....ambiance was outstanding....service was spot on. We just wish we could've shared our experience with another couple. We were told several days prior we couldn't change reservation from 2 to 4 person yet we were seated at a 4-top. Nevertheless, this place is top-notch!
Amazing service by Linda! Special of mahi-mahi with rib eye was out of this world! Gorgeous view accompanied by live music…what more can you ask for! One of the best restaurants on the island hands down!
Amazing service thank you
My wife and I, and another couple had dinner at Browns and for the most part we really enjoyed the experience. Our server was very patient and very friendly and accommodating. Two of us had the special 3 course dinner with wine pairings. One had the dinner without the wine pairing and the 4th ordered off the regular menu. The rib eye steak I ordered was impressively served with a bone that had the marrow scraped off and mixed into the potatoes for a nice rich flavor, then piped back onto the bone for plating . The rib eye was also topped with a nice chimichurri sauce and it was good.
The others all enjoyed their Poke and prawn appetizers and the duck and the kampachi mains were also rated very good. As was their tres leches cake. The ambience of the nearby lagoon and ocean and the soft sounds of live ukulele and guitar all make the evening special. For all of us this dinner was a splurge, but when you have a dinner that cost over $500 for 4 people you always question was it worth it? At Brown’s you just have to let go and enjoy the moment.
We were very excited to eat here on the second night of our vacation. Sadly, the food did not excite us nearly as much. The rib eye steak was significantly dry and the chef apparently decided to douse it in butter to mask the fact that it was over cooked. For $70.00 the cut of beef you order should be perfect. This was far from it!
We did sit on the edge of the patio facing the ocean and that took a small bit of the sting out of our $240.00 dinner bill……..
Service and atmosphere were outstanding. Appetizers and main course were disappointingly uninventive. Dessert was wonderful. We have dined here many times before and always come away raving. This time dinner was not up to previous dinners we have enjoyed at Browns.
Food terrible my wife and I both got sick that night!
Celebrating 60 years of marriage.
High class restaurant, space, and staff. It's priced accordingly, so expect to pay a bit more. Tempura Ahi and Duck Breast were great. If in the budget, would definitely go again.
Beautiful live music. The roasted lobster was fantastic. The miso clams were also a favorite.
Most awesome meal I have had on the Big Island!
Fantastic experience! We were in HI for 3 full days before eating here and my husband and I both agreed that Brown’s was our favorite part of the trip at that time, after full 3 days of exploring! The food was fantastic, but our server Ikokua made the experience. From explaining the menu, giving us recommendations, and gifting us two anniversary surprises, we were blown away. He even recognized us the next day at a different restaurant he was passing by and chatted with us for several minutes before returning to his restaraunt!
Only downside, I didn’t book a second reservation while we were there!
Outstanding chef with signature Hawaiian cuisine . Our main was seared “Ono” a Hawaiian fish that translates to “delicious’ was absolutely 5 star. Served with mushroom tempura and niro garnish .
Appetizers were amazing . We shared the compressed watermelon citrus salad and grilled fresh prawns. Was my husbands birthday and we were surprised by a complementary desert that was delicious “Kona coffee mud pie”. Hostess and servers all excellent.
Spectacular outdoor setting and first class service all round.
For what was basically a $600 dinner for 4 people this should’ve been much better.
First we get there for our 7pm reservation and there’s a line 20 people deep trying to check in…we finally get to the front and the lady asks us if we’re guests of the hotel? No? Temp check! The two other people in our party not guests but no temp check - makes zero sense but ok fine.
We stand on the side and finally get seated ten minutes later at 725pm. It just sprinkled. The cushions, Silverware and napkins are wet. Nobody bothers to change them or wipe anything down. This isn’t a backyard bbq, we’re at an upscale restaurant. The server is an older gentleman who can’t read that half the people at the table speak broken english. The service is indifferent at best.
Nothing is horrible but you aren’t coming here for “not horrible.” We had a way better experience at canoe house. Do not recommend.
