We made a reservation for six, using Open Table, and we were hoping to celebrate my husband's birthday. When we arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time, the restaurant was CLOSED! The sign said they had a private party. So our group had to scramble to find another restaurant. I called Brookville and left a message - asking for a call back, and of course, they have not called. Not good at all - and I certainly won't recommend them.

Four of us went to Brookville on Saturday night. it was uncrowded when we sat down at 7 but had started to fill up by the time we left. The menu was more limited then I recall it being on 2 prior visits. 5 or 6 entrees. This probably is due to their policy of all ingredients being sourced from with 100 miles of the restaurant which I am sure is difficult in April. Go We all enjoyed what we had but nothing special. No reason to hurry back.

Had been wanting to catch this place for lunch. My son and I went on Sunday near noon. He wanted a cup of coffee but was told there would be a wait. After waiting 10 minutes , he switched to a Bloody Mary which hadtoo much horseradish in it. It would not go up a straw. This was $10.00 The restaurant has a small menu split between lunch and breakfast items. We picked a Brookville specialty which is like a pancake sandwich with an egg described to us as being like a Mc Griddle with maple syrup inside (as well as bacon) . Cost was $12.00. I added chicken breast to mine for $6.00 more. There was a long wait to get the food. We got complimentary cornbread which was dry. This was a sign of things to come. The pancakes were VERY dry ...no sign of maple syrup and none served on the side. We asked for syrup but that could not make the dish edible. The chicken was a small breast which was overdone. We were very disappointed and do not expect to make a return visit.

This wasnt the first time ive eaten here so I knew the food was going to be good. My only complaint was the table they sat us at. It was just two of us and we got put at a table against the wall facing out the window sitting next to each other. It was weird. Sitting on the same side of the table is odd if its just two ppl, but we didnt have much of an option considering how packed the place was. Food and service was great, just wish my back wasnt to the restaurant.

We ate at Brookville for the first time, on a night with a special menu (Valentine's Day). There were a few choices each for appetizer, main and dessert (although 2 of the 4 desserts were sold out by 8:30 when we arrived). We had a refreshing apple & beet salad, a delicious pork chop, and two decadent chocolate desserts. The other appetizer was just so-so: decadent, creamy grits with bacon (great) with a cold poached egg on top (not great). I'm guessing they made the eggs ahead of time, but why wouldn't you warm it up a little before serving? The other odd note was the butternut squash risotto, which only had a few small chunks of squash in it, and was very soupy when it first arrived. It also tasted like the wine hadn't been cooked off thoroughly (bitter). I asked the server what was in it, and he said "I don't know." So that's not good. He offered to have it cooked more once I described what seemed to be wrong. The kitchen had him tell me that it was actually just a very strong, funky cheese that gave it the bitter flavor. They did still cook it more for me, and add more butter to "cut the bitterness." So maybe it just wasn't to my taste. Or maybe if it had more butternut squash in it, it would have balanced the bitterness a bit better.

We ate here two years ago and loved it. The sauces and spices were delectable. But this time, on Valentine's Day no less, we were quite underwhelmed. The steak was so rare as to be cool (waitress never asked how we'd like it), and the pork was just plain bland. With two drinks, we ended up dropping nearly $180. Won't do that again. The wait staff were all teenagers -- nothing against that per se -- but they were inattentive and inexperienced.

My wife and I went to Brookeville as an early Valentine's dinner. The portions and the menu were small but the food was fantastic. They use all local ingredients and clearly the chef knows what they're doing. However, the service was awful. It appeared that they were understaffed as pretty much every table around us was having trouble getting a hold of their server the whole night. It didn't make for a great Valentine's dinner, but we did get some laughs out of how bad the experience was. I would love to give this restaurant another shot because the food is great, but I'm not willing to spend another $100 to gamble on their service.

Really enjoyed the table they gave us here which had both of us sitting next to each other right in front of a window that overlooked the Downtown Mall. The complimentary bacon popcorn was amazing, the carrot bisque was deceivingly simple in look but PHENOMENAL in flavor, and the chicken and waffles were an innovative and delicious take!

While the food was adequate (though not outstanding) it was priced a bit higher than other places close by. Further, my son commented that dining there was like visiting the cheese shop in the Monty Python sketch - they were out of a lot of things (toast, straws, etc.). We were left alone for long stretches, and then when we got the bill (67.00 for 3 of us) the "suggested tip" on the bill ran from 20-30%. I usually tip well above 20%, but to suggest 30% just hit me wrong. Suffice it to say that I will not likely return to Brookville. There are too many other options that are much better.

We went with friends for Restaurant Week and loved the food and ambiance and view of the Downtown Mall. The staff was very knowledgable of the food and drink menus and offered great suggestions. The only thing I would say is that it was a little chilly but after a cocktail I warmed up. I would recommend making sure to have a sweater or light jacket to be able to wear in the restaurant in the winter time. Overall a WONDERFUL restaurant with AMAZING food and drink and service!!
