Brigantine Point Loma
Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Crème Brûlée. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas.
The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday. Join us for our signature Happy Hour.
Our table started with an exquisite Crab and Shrimp Fondue which turned out to be delightful.
The Surf and Turf of a 10 ounce strip steak and a lobster tail were prepared to perfection!
Warm Apple Crisp for dessert topped with ice cream complemented the meal.
Great service and superbly poured drinks made the experience all the better.
I would highly recommend to friends and family just as quickly as I would a stranger.
The pork chop was cooked to perfection and the salmon was flakey and tasty. A wonderful meal all around!
Vacation with my wife and daughter.
Great place for dining, a little expensive, but the food was really delicious, I got the shrimp and crab half salad. Highly recommended!
Great isn't a strong enough word for the food! Absolutely fantastic is more a description. Service was excellent and the pace was relaxing. However, the strange 4% added to everything to "cover costs" is rediculous! Never seen that before and I eat out at least 3 nights a week across the country. If you gotta have this claim, why not just up your prices? It made me feel like the ownership is scalping money and preying on tourists. I am not a tourist as I live in Temecula but it would seem to be as such and they are very important to the economy of SD.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The meal was delicious. The only issue was with the bar. The bartender did not know how to make the drinks we requested. My friend’s Brandy Alexander was mixed incorrectly and was bitter. My Moscow Mule was watered down, had barely any ginger beer and too much lime. Otherwise, I would recommend the Brigantine for a great selection of enters, salads and appetizers.
I got the filet and it was delicious! No issues with parking. The service was great. We’ve been here a bunch of times before and will definitely go back.
My son ordered the fish and chips. The fish was good, but the French fries were dark and greasy. They should be light and crispy. They should improve on the French fries. Our salads were good and standard.
We had the house salad, halibut, and swordfish entrees. Everything was excellent. You can always count on fresh and well prepared seafood here.
A perfect place to eat before attending a concert at Humphreys By The Bay concerts. Excellent service and food!
There were 3 of us. Lobster tacos were fair and the fries had an odd chemical smell. My chicken tasted good but when served the dish was off-putting. The skin at first appeared raw but it wasn’t. What seemed to be a brine liquid on the plate added to the initial appearance that it was frozen raw chicken defrosting on the plate. It was seasoned nicely and juicy but reminded me more of steamed Chinese style chicken and not roasted as described on the menu. The salmon was delicious.
Great food and wine Wednesday . We enjoyed our evening and will be back
Always great food and service. We always find this being one of our favorite for all.
Nice place overall. The drinks were a little pricey (lemon drop and cosmo--$12 and $13) and not that good. The mahi mahi and the surf and turf were great--tasty and good portions. Good atmosphere, just the decor seemed a little dated (that older, darker feel). The service was top notch--prompt and friendly. Great to go for a walk after dinner!
We got to the Pt. Loma location a tad early, around 5:15, so maybe we were caught in a shift change. It wasn't clear who our server would be, and when she showed up she didn't have the specials yet. Getting water, bread, etc. was a little bumpy. Eventually when we were served the food was not really fresh-from-the-kitchen hot, more lukewarm. Once again, however, our server was nowhere near (food delivered by another person who quickly disappeared) and our bread was still nowhere to be found. Just a bumpy ride start to finish. The one thing that the server did keep on top of was asking me (several times) if I needed another wine--even though my glass was still half full. We've eaten at other locations and had a better experience. This one left us a little disappointed. BTW, limited outdoor seating with a parking lot view.
Good food for a reasonable price. Good place to dine and talk a walk along San Diego Bay a short distance away.
The dining experience, service and food was wonderful. Unfortunately, we will not return due to the 4% upcharge added to the bill. Thank you.
This was our second time there and it was just as great as the first time. The food was great as was the service from the staff. Already have plans for returning next month. This is quickly becoming one of our favorite together places.
The food was excellent I had Lobster tacos which was half lobster tail in each taco, they were great.
My gal had Filet Mignon that was cooked to perfection, that you could cut with a butter knife.
For desert we had Mud Pie, it was mostly coffee ice cream but very good.
The surprise at the end was when we received our bill with a 4% surcharge. We asked what it was for and it was in response to the minimum wage increase California imposed. The Cohn Group thought it would be better than raising the prices on the menu. Really? because raising the menu items $.75 each would have solved it and nobody would notice. Instead the over paid board of directors choose to make a political statement. By the way we complained and they gave us desert for free, which was much more then the 4%.
We’ve eaten at the Brigantine for years and this experience was miserable. Undertrained staff and a chaotic bar and kitchen made it that our order was never taken and we had to track down our waiter through the hostess. Even then, when the food came over 30 minutes later it was lukewarm on a hot plate which meant it was sitting for quite some time. There’s a new place right across the street that we will go to next time.
Service was a bit slow. Food was good. View was awesome.
Alaskan halibut was fabulous! Very nice and good server.
The drinks were great but we were really diasspointed in the food. I’m not hugely into seafood so I ordered the pork chop and was unimpressed. It just tasted like bbq sauce no flavor otherwise. The steak also had no flavor.
A consistent family favorite of ours....thank you!
Seemed as the food we ordered was pre made and reheated. Prawns were chewy and other entrees ordered were unremarkable... for the price, not great.
Brigantine is a reliable lunch or dinner spot. It doesn't quite compare with high end places like Oceanaire or Trulucks, but it's also priced accordingly. It's a great choice for a casual evening out, with or without kids.
this was a great place for us to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Good atmosphere, nice ambiance, good menu and good food. The desert was also very good.
I am not the one who normally chooses where we go to celebrate anniversaries or go on romantic dates but this time I did the research and planning. I picked Brigantine because of the reviews and I'm so glad I did. The food was amazing, and our server was exceptional. They had an anniversary card ready for us and gifted a dessert. My husband was impressed, and we finally found our date night place. We definitely will be coming back!
Our recent visit to Brigantine was exceptional from the moment we walked through the door everyone was too friendly and the service was great. Everyone’s dishes were also exceptional from the seafood to the steak. Can’t wait to go back
We had a lovely quiet table outside. Our meal was delicious and we will go back before a Humphrey’s show.
Looked for a nice dinner and extremely pleased. The dining room is upstairs and has lots of seating. We were greeted promptly and seated at our table. Chris was very attentive as our server. We had received a free appetizer card from our hotel and it was delicious. The artichokes were especially tasty. The caesar salad was good, The tuna was cooked to perfection and the New York steak melted in your mouth. The sides of potatoes and carrots were a nice touch. Disappointed that the mud pie was not available. The fruit tart was a nice substitute but no the same. The wine list had lots of nice selections.
We always go to the Brigantines, our family favorite. With just a couple, or with the grandchildren and all! Big to little, we all love Brigantine's! Xmas and birthday gift certificates are always purchased. BUT, there is a big BUT..... we will hesitate next time, as this experience was really a let down. My husband and I were alone for Father Day, made relaxing reservation time for 7:00 p.m. Arrive, our table was ready, by a window, ...then the evening went down hill. Counted 5 tables empty in our section, so the Father's Day hustle was gone and all was calm. Server "Tanner" stopped by to say he would have his helper come by and see what we would like. No one brought water nor took drink order for 20 minutes. then the drink order of Crown Royal, 7up and squeeze of lime which was served by Tanner, with no lime. We order an appetizer of calamari, and also dinner which was Rib Eye, Lobster & Crab Cobb. Calamari arrived not even hot or warm. Again, even more than 5 table now empty in our section, I now count 6-8 servers meandering around. Rib Eye was just, ok. Salad was very good. This evening was not good, most importantly, just really disappointed in what is ALWAYS wonderful. I don't usually answer questionnaires, but we are born and raised San Diego, Brigantine is our go to place for special occasions, guests, family, out-of-towners, etc. We go to Point Loma Brigantine EVERY New Years Eve for dinner with 5 local other couples, it is our group tradition! We are generous tippers, and did not slight Tanner by any means, even the 4% charge for extra costs to you folks, and the reasons why, gave us a chuckle reading it on the menu. Call me if you would care to discuss, 858 361-2288. We are very cool, easy, lay back people. Don't have to use the elevator in the kitchen yet, lol! Have a great day, and we are not mad at all, just giving negative & positive feedback that is appropriate for our most recent visit.
The service was excellent. I had the shrimp and grits and I was not disappointed. Another person in our party had the pork chops and she said they were delicious. We usually come here at least once while we are in San Diego. Always a great meal.
The Brigantine is truly my favorite restaurant in the San Diego area. I've recommend
the Brigantinen for more than 25 years. You never disappoint!
The only negative was 2flights of stairs to get to the restaurant which is hard for most.
They offer a Freight elevator if you ask, but require an escort because it is in the kitchen
Anna our waitress was great
We love spending our anniversary at Brigantine Point Loma -- great food, fabulous service, and amazing attention to detail. Thanks for the card -- we really appreciated it.
The menu has been updated which is a big plus! More seafood with fish vs mainly shellfish!
Everything was cooked to profession!
We’ll definitely be back!
Our family has spent years going to the Brig Pt. Loma. Service was great. Spent time in the bar ahead of our reservation. Server was very informative regarding our appetizer / beer selection. In particular, she recommended the most amazing oysters in the half shell (other than Blue) and the Duet IPA from Alpine. My brother is a beer snob. He's that guy that was critical of the Sculpin Handle going away and it's great to see a replacement worthy of drinking.
The food was great and the service was on point. In celebration of my Dad's 80th birthday, it was the best setting for my Dad's special day!
Rita is our favorite server.
