Brigantine Point Loma
Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Fish Tacos. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats.
Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas.
The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Saturday & Sunday. Join us for our signature $5 Happy Hour from 3-6pm.

Had a family brunch here. It was great! We had a wonderful time. Will go again.
Great food - will say it was an icebox in there. I hate dining in cold dining rooms, makes it feel depressing! Overall really great though.
The service was excellent! We came in on a Saturday morning, so it wasn't too busy. The food was great! The house-made potato chips, the "Napa Valley Nachos", are a must-have. We really enjoyed dining here 😀
I love Brigantine but I do not recommend this location, things were good until I had to send something back. The waitress avoided me for almost 30mins while I was trying to get her attention to send the times back. I’ve had the shrimp and crab fondue multiple times at other locations but the taste and mostly texture was so strange and I also had a drink that was too strong, I couldn’t even drink it. I tried forcing myself but it just wasn’t enjoyable. I had ordered a strawberry lemonade rose which was so delicious but after sending back the appetizer and drink from there the experience completely shifted. I ordered my self and partner the strawberry Rose lemonade and it was so bitter and not even like the first one we ordered. Felt intentional. The manager was kind and helpful but the staff needs to do better.
Wonderful experience! The service was outstanding and the food was delicious!
Service, room was great. All of the food was good except grilled oysters. Take off the menu this experiment is not working. They were not grilled but raw, and the crunchy stuff on top tasted like rock salt.
The experience was a nightmare!!! It was my 2nd anniversary. We were put in a corner table of the restaurant under an air conditioning vent. The service was terrible-non attentive server-there were crab shells in my crab cakes-the broccoli was cold-the fish overcooked. We had requested a table outside (and made the reservation three weeks prior to our anniversary). There was no acknowledgement of our special day-this was a very very bad experience!!!!!!!
Picked it due to location, walked to concert at Humphrey's. Dinner was pretty much as expected, moderately expensive but very tasty fish specials. Wife had halibut I had stuffed salmon. Service was fine window seat with quasi-industrial view of boat repair yard, parking lot and some of the marina. Timing fit the bill and finished in plenty of time to walk to the concert.
Always a Go To after the concert scene at Humphreys By the Bay! Consistently delicious food & nice Nautical Ambiance!
Great food! The oysters and mussels were fantastic! Friendly service! We will be back!
Love Charlene (Charlie) she was wonderful and provided outstanding service.
Dinner to celebrate two birthdays. Food very tasty and fresh. Service very spotty. Had to request service through several waiters/waitresses. Once we received our meal, no return by waitress to check on us. Dirty plates sat on table way too long. Nothing from waitress if we wanted anything else during or after meal until she placed dessert menu on table. We ordered one dessert. Waitress brought out two candled desserts. Charged us for the one we ordered and also charged us for the other we didn't order. Although, they gave us a celebration discount. Overall an ok dinner.
The Brig never fails to get the job of making everyone in the family happy. Great apps, superb salads and solid entrees make this a go to spot for our family.
Fabulous sushi! It was quiet as we were there early. I liked the layout, the outside area, open inside and just seemed like a good time. Never been before; but would definitely go again.
The Brigantine is our go-to place for excellent seafood. Highly recommend the sand dabs. Our waiter, Michael, was warm, attentive, and professional. My only complaint is the music they play- not really background dining music,
Went there for my 10 anniversary dinner with my wife and baby. Even though I noted this, they didn’t even do anything special. Sat in regular booth. Server was bothered by stroller in the way. Worst part was the food. I’ve been here for 5 days and ate at over 10 restaurants and by far this was the worst tasting of the trip. Crab cakes..bland! Parmesan crusted sand dabs for dinner..no flavor..had to request more capers just to add flavor. Best part was the broccoli. Had the crab stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. What crab? Didn’t taste anything but bacon. I’ll won’t be back! Was hoping for a great meal to finish the trip and this definitely was a disappointment especially being the most expensive meal of the trip.
I ordered seafood omelette and it’s delicious. Sydney was the one who took care of us and she was great!! We had an outdoor seating and we loved the privacy and the noise level is very low. Definitely we’ll be back
Location at Shelter Island community of San Diego, CA. Food was excellent. Bread Basket... breads could have been a little more soft and varied in type (suggested to branch from squaw and french--sourdough or other artisan seeded, plain or flavored bread- Fresh Made).
Service was overall good. Server had to get Manager at-the-time to move umbrella which was obstructing the ability for 4th guest to sit at the table. Surprised server couldn't move umbrella or open it to keep wait for assistance down.
View was ok. Mostly overlooking a marina parking lot; however still quite enjoyable and quaint! The food, location and overall quality of meal and service was enough to recommend others and myself to visit again!
Our service was amazing. The dollar value of the food was great. I had the macadamia crusted mahi and the risotto was spot on! Finished with a perfect creme brûlée
The Brig is always consistent...service, food, ambiance...never lets us down!
The highlight of our experience was our server, Edgar! He was prompt, super friendly and extremely knowledgeable and helpful with all of our food and drink questions and his recommendations. Great place to go right before a Humphrey's concert as it's two minutes away.
Everything was perfect. Best dinner out in a long time!
Fantastic food and service! Calamari was delicious! Halibut, swordfish, lobster tacos and crab filled shrimp all outstanding! Drinks were on point-try the rye old fashioned! Best meal of our trip!
Food is always delicious. We always ask for Edgar to take care of us and this time they couldn’t. Don’t know the servers name but she was terrible. The food was delicious. Next time we’ll wait for a table that Edgar works.
We needed a restaurant close to Humphrey's and this worked. Brig has been reliable and did not disappoint in terms of service - excellent waitress! The balcony turned out to be nice (although the occasional car exhaust was noticeable) - I'd choose the balcony again. The food, other than the Brig salad, which was so good, seemed lackluster. I had the swordfish with risotto. It was good, but probably would not order again. Hubby chose the fish and chips and was disappointed. The fries were limp and soggy. The two pieces of fish seemed small for the price. Good wine selections. Will go again, but will try someplace else for the next concert outing.
The food was disappointing.
Food was good but pricey, service was good, view was lovely.
Michael, our server, was STELLAR! Sweet, kind, respectful of our space. The food at the La Mesa restaurant is miles above Shelter Island. The portion of swordfish was tiny compared to LM, and the chef didn't know how to cook it med-rare. The crab stuffed/bacon wrapped shrimp was cooked to death...very bad. Service was better than any you'll find anywhere. The bar menu didn't match the website. Drinks were so so. House salad was good. Bread is always great. Brig is a favorite, so I was disappointed.
The OpenTable reservation process went smooth without issue. We got there and our reservation was in their system and we were taken to our table with no wait. The restaurant, ambiance and service was all good. However, I wish they had a more diverse menu. The menu items were very limited. We just missed the 2pm brunch menu so the menu we were left with had a very limited menu. I went there for the oysters, which I ordered and they were great. But there was very little to choose from for my main meal. I would recommend the Brig but just be aware of their limited menu between 2pm brunch and dinner.
All of our food was obviously pre-frozen! Nothing was fresh except our Caesar Salads which had absolutely no flavor! The only thing that tasted good, even though it was also frozen, was our appetizer of Calamari Strips! The waiter was great but we will definitely not be dining there again! I can make the same frozen food at home for a tenth of the price!!!
Came here for our anniversary, it was excellent. Server was great, food was wonderful. Can't wait to return!!
Mai Tai, scallops and halibut were all good
My table was ready on time and the service was the best. All dishes were delicious. My guest from the East Coast was very impressed. I've never had a disappointing experience at Brigantine PL.
Great food, great service
The crab stuffed bacon wrapped prawns were one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm going to be dreaming about them for years to come.
Amazing birthday dinner!
Beautiful harbor area on shelter island. Front entrance has steep stairs but has an elevator takes you to kitchen bk entrance. Food delicious!
Happy to celebrate my birthday with family!
Awesome as always! Great calamari and Brig salad. Everything is delicious and staff is so courteous, accommodating and friendly!
