Lovely as usual. Service was terrific (Armando). I'm so glad the food is consistently good because I can always suggest The Brig for lunch and have the confidence it will be delicious. Yay!
As always Brig was great. We had a fantastic dinner with friends and will; do it again.
Yummy! Great service, good food. The menu is eclectic so everyone can be happy.
Enjoyed Diana our server prices are good and the young ladies at the front are very nice and friendly.
We requested a window booth and did not have to wait too long to get it.
For our anniversary we went to Brigantine and had the Special of the Day, Macadamia encrusted Halibut. It was amazing ! Fresh, generous portion, cooked to perfection ! The best halibut I've every had , and I've done an Alaska cruise and had some really great, fresh caught halibut.
It was a wonderful dinner.
My birthday, wonderful food, terrific service. Loved it all.
Frequent Diner. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
My husband has celiac. He ordered from the gluten free menu. On it they had steak & fries...I asked our waitress if the fries were, indeed, gluten free. She said they weren't since they are fried in a fryer that also fries breaded things. Cross contamination. DUH!!! So WHY are fries listed on the gluten free menu? Why not just say, in parenthesis, ( without the fries) next to the steak item. My husband did not want the steak but we were going to order fries to share before dinner. For people who are gluten free by choice, having gluten might not be the end of the world but for someone with celiac, it could be serious. Other restaurants with gluten free menus have items that are gluten free but perhaps part of the item is not gluten free. For instance, a hamburger might be ok for celiacs but it would say (without the bun). Get it? Concern for the customer. And TRUTH for the customer. We will frequent restaurants that have TRUE gluten free menus. All Brigantine has to do is have someone run a marker thro' the word ‘fries’ on their gluten free menu. And any other items that might be dangerous for celiac patients.
I've always wanted to dine there but we don't live nearby. We went there this weekend for an early anniversary celebration before a concert at Viejas Arena. We began with the crab and shrimp fondue; yummy and decadent. My husband had the crab cake and I had fish and chips - both were scrumptious. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, Brigantine gave us a complimentary dessert and we chose the creme brulee; it was delicious and we appreciated the gift. The bill was very reasonable, too! We plan to return when we go to another concert at Viejas.
Food was excellent but the kitchen was twice as slow as usual. I'm sorry for whatever issues were the problem! We had to ask the server to check on our food. I am a regular customer.
My mahi mahi and vegetables were great. However, my wife's sea bass and broccoli were very very bland.
Nothing unique about a seafood place who’s food, especially the seafood has little to no taste. Expensive place to get a very mediocre lunch.
Just hit the spot. To hot to cook. Tada!
Great dinner. Go here!!
The Brig is consistently good. Was a little surprised at the size of the salmon entrée for the price, but it was fine.
the lobster crab cobb salad is the best in san diego
It was unfortunate that the short ribs meal I ordered was not good and they didn’t have my favorite item on last nights menu
Wonderful dinner at the Brig. I love the new decor. The food and service were top notch. We will be back!
My friend and I often meet here to have a leisurely lunch and talk without being rushed . We especially like to share dishes. The crab and lobster fondue being a favourite .Sometimes room for a delicious desert.
We finally got around to trying the mussels on the Small Plate menu and what a treat! They were over the top delicious and you could easily make a full meal out of just dipping the warm bread into that sauce. We had our favorite - the Chilean sea bass stuffed with crab and artichoke. Everything they serve is excellent. I have yet to find an entree I don't love. I tend to favor the seafood selections but in the future, I plan to try some of the beef offerings. Definitely one of my favorite San Diego restaurants.
Wonderful service. Wow. Haven't felt this special in a long time. They found out I was celebrating retirement as of yesterday being my last day and comped dessert. 😃
Service was perfect, ambiance of patio, and quiet enough to catch up with a past co-worker. Loved salad and cosmo was not weak like some bars..
The Brig is a La Mesa favorite, and for good reason. The food is reliably delicious and good value for the money. Service is exceptional, as they have always been blessed with a corps of well-experienced and highly efficient (mostly female) servers. We dine there several times per year, and while it might not be the French Laundry, we've never been disappointed.
Great meal! Great service! I took my fiancé for a pre-theater meal and it was perfect! Thanks Brigantine!!
Great food. Excellent service from “Ollie”. A local treasure.
East County San Diego has only a few high quality restaurants and The Brig is certainly on that short list. With the expanded dinning room, the large outdoor dinning area and the bar/lounge, The Brig (La Mesa) has a table that will please all parties, large or small. The service is very good without be ostentatious and the food is superb. Don't be concerned with the front door parking lot being full, just drop off your party and park behind and below.
Coco was our server for dinner tonight and she was so friendly and attentive! Fresh seafood cooked perfectly...just wonderful!
Even though a bit overpriced the food and service are always excellent.
The food here is always so mediocre that I wonder each and every time why I bother to return. If you want happy hour oysters go to One Door North. They are better quality and there is better atmosphere.
Very good-to-excellent food .. attentive friendly service.
A little noisy, but tolerable. Probably the best restaurant in La Mesa. Don't have to go to Gaslamp downtown, ecept for white tablecloths.
Interesting decor and foliage. Good parking.
Will be back many times.
The food was good but not what I expected for what I paid. I got the Halibut with rice. It was just ok I could make better rice no flavor at all and cold
Celebrating a 75th birthday with a dear friend. I had predetermined what I was going to order but the server made the evening's special (Surf & Turf) sound so good that's what I ordered. The two ladies ordered from the small plates menu plus a house salad and still had take home. The server asked what our celebration was and provided a free dessert for us to share. Excellent evening with all staff attentive, polite, and welcoming.
We always enjoy our visits to The Brig whether in a group or just the two of us. I especially like the First Catch menu of 3 courses. Wine is expensive, comparatively speaking, but always served in the right glass at the right temperature. It's definitely our go-to place for a special night out or to meet friends for Taco Tuesday.
Have never had a bad meal here and the service is always excellent!
I always go to the Brigantine
We were celebrating that we sold a house, and we added it to the comments and the waitress came asking what we were celebrating.....really?
I thought they would maybe bring us a treat or something, after all, we did drop $100 dlls for lunch.
Food was great as always, but i think waitress was not waiting on us.
We had a great round of drinks in the bar and excellent dinner in the dining room. Each of us chose one of the three specials for the night and shared. All were excellent!
We had a reservation for 4 but ended up with 5 guests and we were graciously accommodated.
The food was excellent, although a warning that the full Lobster Cobb Salad could feed a family of 4!!! Our server was engaging and efficient - overall, we had a really nice dinner =)
We were seated in the booth closest to the kitchen and it was loud/disruptive.
My favorite place but disappointed that even though we had reservations we had to dine outside. Heaters were roasting. Told we would have to wait an hour for an inside table.
UNACCEPTABLE!!!. would have gone elsewhere if had been advised we had no choice.
Will specify in the future.
Maybe you are too busy to care. Seemed that way.
Wanted to take my husband somewhere nice for Father's Day. We sat on the patio and had excellent oysters Rockefeller and the chef was kind enough to make my favorite dish of calamari relleno which is no longer on the published menu.
The food and service were very good but the noise level was very high. Couldn't hold a conversation with my friends. Left as soon as we finished our food. And I definitely won't come back on a Saturday evening again. Perhaps if you carpeted the floors to absorb some of the noise?
We had a wonderful meal and super-friendly staff! Great time!
