Bottle + Kitchen
Food was decent, coffee not so great, service good. This is one of a few places that I could find for weekend brunch for 10. They accept weekend reservations, have a great space for a large group and the menu works with vegans, gluten free and omnivores. Service was really good for a large party.
Visiting from Ohio. Very enjoyable meal and our server Piper was great. Would highly recommend!
The hostess told us “no minors at the tables in bar area” as there were two minors sitting in there while we walked by. And our waiter never told us the specials nor came to our table to make sure things and drinks were good. When the check came (we had to ask for it), he never returned for it and another nice waiter took care of it for us.
Hi Jacob, I"m very sorry to hear you had a less that perfect experience. I do apologize if there was a misunderstanding about the tables in the lounge area. Only the actual bar and the tall table are considered to be the part of the bar where minors are not allowed. I would love to get some further information from you, if you wouldn't mind providing me with more details. We'd love to have you back to try and improve upon your experience. Four of us came for Happy Hour prior to attending a concert at the waterfront. The restaurant was near empty, but was clean and inviting. Our food was excellent (although they were out of fish & chips) and the service was pleasant. I have been before and I expect I will dine here again.
Loved the food and the ambiance!! Definitely a keeper.. the burger was especially outstanding!
Food was okay, but not great. It was also interesting that the items on the Portland Dining Month menu were not also on the regular menu. I like to try things that I may come back for.
What a great place! We had Piper as our waiter and would go back just for him! The food was wonderful and next time we are going to stay at the hotel and make the night even more perfect.
Friends gathered to celebrate a birthday. Our server was attentive, the food was tasty and we enjoyed it very much. They even comped our dessert
We were so exited to have a birthday celebration lunch here. When we walked in the ambiance was just beautiful, and I loved that they placed us next to the window so we could see the waterfront park and water. We arrived at 12:10 on a Wednesday afternoon..and by 12:30 the waitress finally came over and grabbed our order and gave us drinks. There were maybe 3-4 people at the bar and only 1 other table. By 1:10pm a member of our party went to go find out what had happened. The waitress said that the hotel was having a banquet so they were running a little behind. Mind you, we had reservations. We finally receive our food and it was underwhelming to say the least. Beautiful presentation but no real flavor anything to "write home about". I was so disappointed, especially as it was my birthday and I chose the restaurant to try. I thought if it was on Portland Dining month it couldn't be bad, right? Well, wrong lol.
My date and I went to Bottle+Kitchen for Portland on March 13. We were seated near the window and had a nice table. Water was already on the table and the first order of drinks were served quickly. Our food order was taken and an appetizer was ordered. While eating the appetizer, we used the only fork available at the table. However, when our entree appeared, we had to ask for a fork, and waited a considerable time for a utensil. My date ordered another glass of wine, which we had to wait for, allowing her plate to get cold. My plate, not quite finished, was whisked away from under me and my protests about not being dinished were not heard. There was no inquiry about whether I was finished or wanted the food to be taken with me. We ordered dessert and coffee, which took considerable time, addeed to which was the wait for another fork so we could eat dessert, during which time my coffee went cold, and was not refilled. Water was not refilled on the table, nor was my drink. Waiting for the check took eons as well. The food, however, was outstanding.
Hi Greg, Although I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your food, I'm disappointed that we weren't able to impress you with our service. Thank you for taking the time to detail our misses from that evening. I will be using this to review all of the steps of service with my team. I hope you will give us another shot to impress you. If you do, please reach out to me and I will make sure you receive a token of our appreciation for doing so. Best, Briana Food & Beverage Manager
Our waiter, Piper, was the bomb... personable, entertaining, informative. I'd come back just for him. Food was fantastic, too.
Went for happy hour and it was nice -- good food and good drinks for a reasonable price. We went early so it was relatively quiet too. What more could you ask for???
The food was great, as was the value. The entire staff was incredibly helpful with our group, going above and beyond standard service levels. Will definitely be back!
We had dinner and breakfast here. The breakfast food was ok, the waiter was fair. The dinner was great! Food was good, drinks excellent, the waiter was amazing! He helped us with drink choices, food and even our after dinner activities. Truly above and beyond. The bacon wrapped dates were amazing. The only thing that was annoying was the very loud woman next to us who was trying to impress her date with her great intellect.
There was not enough staff available.
The child playing the piano in the lobby confirmed our disinterest. It was obvious our quiet Christmas dinner was not likely. We waited 10 minutes to obtain a quieter table—
We canceled our dinner reservation after getting a pre-dinner drink in the bar.
Hello Janet, I'm sorry to hear you found the restaurant to be overly loud. Unfortunately, we can not control the liveliness of the restaurant on a holiday when we are one of the only places in town that is open. Should you find yourself in the area again, I hope you'll give us another try as I think our cocktails and food are top notch. Thank you for the feedback. Sincerely, Briana Food & Beverage Manager
We booked a birthday brunch almost a month is advance and we were seated, greeted, told water would be coming and then left for 30 minutes with 2 children under 6 at our table.
I had to go to the bar to get a pitcher of water from our server who forgot about us.
Then he took our drink orders...15 min later the drinks arrive. No straws for the 4 and 6 year old so after another 10 minutes of waiting I went back to the bar to grab my own.
Food order placed almost an hour after arriving and it took 30 minutes to get food.
Food was good, but at that point I could have eaten the napkin and it would have tasted great.
Never once was a happy Birthday mentioned, no thank you or appreciation for booking a 10 person group.
And to top it off...automatic 20% gratuity added to the bill. No wonder why he didn’t bother serving us! He didn’t have too.
Upset, unhappy and unfortunate because the hotel is beautiful and so is the restaurant. Will not be coming back for dinner like I had planned.
Food lacked flavor and left a lot to be desired. The upholstery on our booth was filthy and unappetizing.
We made a reservation but arrived early. They sat us right away! We actually asked to sit in a spot where we could be by the window and watch our family members run Turkeython! They were happy to accommodate our request. We started off with 3 Bloody Mary’s and coffee to start the morning. None of us were over excited about the Bloody Mary; they were spicy which we liked but there was also a flavor that we couldn’t pin point that was a little different and not tasty enough to order another. So we switched to mimosas and were VERY happy with that choice. The beautiful thing was we were not in a hurry and never were we rushed. Our waitress was so adorable and friendly and checked in with us to offer service as we enjoyed our morning. Eventually we ordered oatmeal, which is so yummy. All kinds of add ins (toasted almonds, dried cherries, brown sugar, and toasted coconut)! Best around. We enjoyed coffee and waited for our additional guests. We then ordered a full breakfast. All were so good....especially the eggs Benedict! Amazing hollandaise sauce...light and tasty. I would highly recommend this cozy and friendly spot!!
This is the restaurant inside the Rose Hotel. We ordered several small plates and they came when ready, everything came hot and the food was very tasty. Are server Piper he was a delight, excellent service he checked back often to make sure everything was to are liking. Also lots of free parking in the hotel garage.
We spent over 100 dollars between the two of us getting drinks and food which I'm not complaining about, but we were there for over a hour and only recieved 1 set of silverware. Which means we only got 1 napkin. Took over 15 minutes to ask us what our drink order would be. Drinks were completely empty before asking for refills, even thewater container was empty. Maybe it was because me and my wife look young and they didnt take us serious. Great food though.
Great spot for a special client business luncheon. Quiet for conversations with a beautiful view of the river.
Good variety of menu choices for different dietary restrictions. Excellent service as well.
The menu offered online, which is why we chose to go to the restaurant WAS NOT available. Then, several of us in the party ordered hamburgers and while they were ok, they were not as described. The restaurant wrote off the burgers. It was too bad the kitchen did not pay attention to the change in happy hour to regular dinner hour offerings.
Service was HORRIBLY slow! Over 45 minutes before our order was taken.
Casual place. Energetic waiter.
Went as a group of 9 people for brunch. Water was already on the table for us. Excellent service. Answered all questions/accommodated all requests. Food was great and filling.
Our waiter was freaking fantastic and the food was great.
My husband and I just moved to Portland about 3 months ago. While he was on vacation back in 2015, he stayed at the Rose Hotel. During his stay, he told me about a restaurant in the hotel that he was dying to visit. 3 years later, we now live in Portland, and he is STILL talking about wanting to go to this restaurant. I happen to work in the World Trade Center two blocks down and walk past it every day, so I decided it'd be a nice surprise on a rare date night (we have two small children). I am sad that I even have to type this, and I'm never one to leave reviews, but since you asked...
We arrived to the restaurant for a 7:30 pm reservation, and were told that our table was ready fairly quick - so far, so good. We were led over to our table, which was a tiny "two-seater" table in the bar area. The restaurant seemed pretty empty, so I felt it was strange that a reservation got us a table at the bar. I'm not one to gripe about things like that, so even though it wasn't the atmosphere that I was hoping for on a very rare date night, I let it roll off of my shoulders. When the waitress came over, she was very short in her introduction, and it felt like we were almost an inconvenience to her. We ordered a starter (which came out in good time) and dinner, but that was the last time we saw our waitress for a long time. After waiting about 45 minutes for our pizza, our frazzled waitress came out to the table holding the wrong pizza - she ordered the wrong one, and now we had to wait for them to cook our actual order. We couldn't even snack on our app. because the crab/artichoke dip comes with only about 8 crackers, which lasted only a fraction of the time we had to wait for our PIZZA. It's not like we ordered something fancy with several special requests...
All of this to say, we'd been dreaming of visiting this restaurant for years, and to say I am completely disappointed would be a gross understatement.
Omelettes were very good. Place was poor. Would not go back.
Menu was weak
Slow service and food was not high quality compared to other Portland restaurants prices the same
We went for dinner and ordered the short ribs with broiled chicken. The service was slow and the chicken served was very dry. We thought the food was so-so.
The atmosphere was great. Food and drinks were VERY GOOD. Wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed though and the kitchen wasn't a help to them. The table next to us got their salads and entrees at the same time and the server apologized. Our food was delivered in 2 parts; the pizza was delivered about 30 minutes BEFORE the 2 other entrees. Everything was supposed to be together.
We had reservations and had informed the restaurant that we would need to be out in an hour. We ended up having to ask our server to have 2 entrees boxed to go BEFORE they were brought to us. We even asked for and paid the check before we got those 2 entrees.
Overall experience was just OK.
Would be nice to have some more veggie options in the ‘entrée’ section of weekend Brunch menu
Good food. Fun menu. Really nice staff!
Great for meals or snacks. The tater tots with beans was not that good:( but everything else we’ve tried here has been good! Unique and good drinks.
Ordered Flat Iron Steak and Salmon. Meals took at least 35 min and when they finally arrived, steak was over cooked (well done when ordered medium) and cold. Waiter was very nice and offered to send back. Waiter brought back plate of sides and said steak would take 8 min. It was 15 minutes before the steak came back. Salmon was delicious.
The food was great........staff was great. A bit spendier then I wold have guessed.
Food was delicious. Salads were fresh and portions ample. Entree was large enough to split. Ordering and food delivery were timely. Our waiter was busy. Several tables were finishing at the same time and getting the bill and paying were rather lengthy .
Server was wonderful and the food was great. Hidden gem!
