Borealis Grille & Bar - Kitchener Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was great!! Waitress was wonderful., allowed us time to visit uninterrupted. Two orders of salmon arrived not hot, but warm.
We were placed in bar area and it was abit noises. But in all fairness there was a part of 80 upstairs and that may have been why.
Overall very enjoyable evening!! We will return!
Our server was awesome and had great timing for everything. We got the jalapeno cheese dip which wasn't spicy really, just had the flavor of jalapeno. The Nachos were excellent. For mains we got tacos and the duck, which were all really good. For dessert we got the flapper dessert as it was on special, it very delicious.
Can’t say anything bad about Borealis. Both the Guelph and Kitchener location have been a 10/10 each time. I had gone there to celebrate my engagement with my fiancé and the staff there made it feel so absolutely special!! We got the fish tacos and salmon as mains and the flatbread as an appetizer. It was delicious and cooked to perfection! Will go back again and again and again.
Asked for a booth while booking and while there and they still gave us a table. Many booths were available. It was my wife’s birthday and I noted this in the reservation and they did nothing special. Was very disappointed. The hostess was rude and never smiled... she is definitely in the wrong business. Just my first experience there... so was being honest.
Reservation was on time (important as we had recent knee surgery person in our party). Server was friendly and on point. Our party did not feel rushed ever though busy Chrismtas Friday night.
Beautiful ambiance.....kitchen staff super friendly. Food was wonderful as always.
We are regulars and will continue to be so.
I have always really loved Borealis and considered it my favourite restaurant. We were away in Vancouver for several months and so I was very excited to go again. However I have to admit I was a little disappointed to learn that they had removed my favourite meal from the menu :(
Always enjoy a meal at Borealis ! Table was in great spot for an evening of ‘catch up’ with a close friend. Even though restaurant was busy, we did not feel rushed in anyway.
Server checked back just the right amount of time and was very pleasant. Enjoyed our surprise welcome from Luigi as well.
Not my first visit, but may be our last. Upon arrival, our hostes showed us to our table, which was directly next to the server/order entry station. There was an empty booth further away that we asked to be seated at instead, however the hostess rudely stated "that table belongs to a different waitress". Another group was then seated at that booth a few minutes later, and we had the same waitress as they did. We then had to put up with waiters/waitresses gossiping loudly inches away from us, consistent clattering of cutlery prep, and multiple staff members reaching over our food to adjust the thermostat for the room throughout our visit. Kind of ruined what was supposed to be an intimate date night.
Borealis is top draw and reasonable pricing. Confirm your reservation by calling them as the Open Table link did not work. When we arrived there was no record of our reservation, even though I had a confirmation. Fortunately it was early and they had room. The Elk/Pork meatliaf was spectacular. My guest had the Jalapeno Mac and Cheese and commented it was not spicy enough. Nice selection of local wines. I liked it some much I am having my corporate Christmas party there.
It was our first experience and we weren't sure what to expect . Our waiter was very friendly and very professional and kept the dishes coming without having a long wait for each . The menu was different and very interesting . We quite enjoyed our choices --- Duck , Steak , Mac and cheese with bacon, and the chicken special of the night . We topped it off with cocktails and wine followed by desert and coffee . Everybody enjoyed their choice and it was a fun evening . We will certainly return . Our guests from out of town said it was an excellent choice . We never felt rushed and had lots of good conversation and excellent food and really enjoyed our get together .
This is one of my favourite local restaurants and I took my sister this time who had never been before. I was a little disappointed with my entrée though. It was a vegetarian curry dish and although the flavors were good, it was so saucy it seemed more like a soup. There was no starch such as rice or bread to soak up the sauce. I explained this to the waiter and asked for bread and then noticed I was charged $1 for it on my bill. Only a minor thing but it seemed petty to charge for bread when it probably should have been included in the first place.
We were really excited to eat here as we have heard great things and we had a gift card. The appetizers were good; we had chicken wings, antijitos and the cheddar jalapeno dip. The chicken wings were a very small portion, but delicious. We ordered 2 burgers and fries and unfortunately the burger was mediocre and the fries were pretty bad. One of us got a meatloaf and it was still frozen on the inside. The other meal was a mac and cheese and it seemed to just be ok as well.
Our waiter was amazing and management took great care of us with regards to the meatloaf situation. We were all really impressed how they rectified the mistake and the only reason we'd go back is because of this.
Overall we enjoyed our dinner, service was great. Ambiance is also very good, nice soft lighting and you can still see your food! My husband's steak was a little tough and my coleslaw was too heavy on the dressing that tasted like'mircle whip'. As we had a starter salad which was fabulous, I left the coleslaw alone. Must say that the meatloaf was very 👍 good. Our server was very attentive and had Allan's steak taken off the bill. This was our 3rd time coming to Borealis and won't be out last. Great spot!😉
