Boat House Waterfront Dining Ratings and Reviews
My food (lobster fritters and baked stuffed lobster) was fantastic. I also got a cookie dough dessert that was really good. Our waitress was really cool also. We picked this place for a pre-Valentine’s Day dinner, as it was recommended by a friend, and were so glad we did.
I usually really like this place but this time - not so much.
All the cuts of vegetables were not in uniform - therefore, some tasted burnt & others were ok. 3 people costs $180, left 20% on the top as our server was decent. The food unfortunately was not up to their standard tonight, not one person finished their meal. Usually a go to spot, especially in the warmer weather. I'll ponder a bit upon my next visit. "We'll see?"
Even though there was a huge line at the door, we walked right in and were seated right away by a very pleasant hostess. Table was as requested, service was excellent from beginning to end of meal. The food, especially the Grilled Swordfish, was excellent! I have been previously disappointed by the Boat House in the past and I have always considered it overrated but I have say that all four of our party were very pleased with the entire experience!
We had another wonderful dinner with our friends. As usual, the service was outstanding, the views are wonderful, and the food is exceptional! The Boathouse has become one of our very favorite dining destinations even though we drive nearly 45 minutes to get there. We can hardly wait for the warm weather to enjoy dinner outside!
Celebrated wife / mom's birthday and it couldn't have went any better. The appetizers were outstanding; we indulged in the raw sampler and crab cakes. The cocktails (sangria) were good and we have enough experiece to say they were made well. The main course was fantastic, we all sampled one anothers plates (fillet, seafood cassrole, lobster roll and cheeseburger). The kids enjoyed themselves and the staff were very good about giving them a little attention. We ended with a carrot cake dessert, espresso and a nutty irishman coffee drink. The kids shared a chocolate peautbutter dessert which kept them quiet, so no need to say anymore. A waitor wrote happy birthday in chocolate on our dessert plate which looked too perfect to be real... but it was. It was a great experience. I highly recommend you give this a try.
From the moment we were greeted with a big smile and a welcoming attitude to the last bite of dessert, this is an A1 place to dine. Kristen served us with a great smile and ready to answer our questions. The rest of her team were equally as friendly and efficient. The Managers were always working wherever needed to support their team. The food is always top notch. Nothing better anywhere’. And of course the location is fabulous. You will never go wrong Dining here.
Boathouse can be depended upon for great food and service everytime. Menu is more for omnivores than vegetarians. Service was attentive yet not too much so we enjoyed the dinner conversation and because it wasnt too loud, all 4 of us could engage in a conversation.
We will definitely return
They have lost their focus.
Lots of accolades, lovely waterfront dining press, and they have never been more busy. The focus is clearly on turning tables and making your dining experience as expeditious as possible.
The pros - their food remains good although plating is now wholly uninspired. Tim, our waiter, continues to be good but when rushed he starts to show signs of stress.
The cons - and get ready they are plentiful. Pave the parking lot. It's not crushed shells, it's not even decent gravel. It's mud and I don't need to ruin shoes and get another carwash to say I had fair lobster fritters. And when I say, via reservation and on the phone, that we're coming in to celebrate multiple birthdays at least mention it. I don't need a free dessert, but would like someone to at least acknowledge our special occasion. Remember when CG in Providence used to cover the table with little birthday themed decorations? Boat House doesn't. And don't put a table with two kids in the bar. It's not pleasant and it's not particularly classy. Lastly, slow down. We had drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts in 98 minutes. Tables were cleared at frenzied speed and the goal was to give as many diners a mediocre experience as opposed to giving less people what the place is capable of.
Boat House is not the same. For a restaurant that opened poorly, to one that became truly excellent, it is now meh. If you ate there between 2013-2016 and had a phenomenal meal I don't think you will today.
Everything from our chowder, Caesar salad, fritters, seafood scampi, haddock with chorico, to our fabulous desserts, especially the earl grey ice cream, were delicious. We loved Kyle the waiter and Exec Sous chef Lou. Very special meal, with a fantastic view and great menu and food. Can't wait to come back and sit at the bar or patios!
Lovely atmosphere...one of the most romantic places to dine...talk windows, subtle lighting, water view, tables well spaced apart lend to a sexy romantic evening. Drinks are divine. Menu choices plentiful and versatile. Food delicious and presentation had wonderful eye appeal. Wait staff polite and knowledgeable
