Staff was very friendly. My friend is Vegan and they had a nice option for her. The brussel sprouts are the best I’ve ever had, really recommended!
seated right away..very attentive staff..great food..
The food was very tasty and different from the normal. The sauces are special and the veggies are flash fried to make them extra delicious. The menu is rather limited, but good choices for all palates.
This restaurant offers a fun, and unique setting that is ideal for large groups of 10, down to couples "date night out." Bo-beau Kitchen & Garden offers a wide variety of delicious food that spans from the grass-fed midlands, to the coastal catches. Even their desserts are fantastic! We had the cherry cheesecake...phenomenal. Our server was prompt, polite, and cheery...I would highly recommend Bo-beau kitchen & Garden to anyone looking for delicious food, and and a fantastic atmosphere.
Our dog was able to join us on the patio. We had a great time for my birthday celebration!
Everything was perfect, except it was so very cold that we had to eat with coats on.
My new favorite brunch place! The crab cake Benedict was delicious. And it’s dog friendly which is a huge plus.
I wanted to love this place, but the prices were absolutely not worth the service and quality of food. The place wasn't that busy yet we waited quite a while for each of the things we ordered to come out. The food was bland and under seasoned, and really not worth the price. The ambience was nice, however, there was a table of loud people sitting nearby that ruined the calm, quiet atmosphere for us. Overall I would not return for dinner - perhaps for a drink or a small plate but absolutely not for a full meal.
My fiancé and I celebrated an early Valentine’s Day with dinner at Bo Beau kitchen + garden and it was so wonderful! The service was great, the food was AMAZING (especially the Brussel sprouts omg out of this world!), and the garden was the perfect romantic setting for our date. We will be coming back!
Been to Bo Beaus before and in OB. I like it fine but regret not specifying I wanted to sit indoors when I made the reservation. They put me on the patio. It was cold and the heaters aren't that efficient but a blanket for my lap did help. Was ample space indoors (it was a tuesday) but was told they were holding the tables for reservations. Fair enough... but there were lots of spaces that no one came to use. Not very accomodating...
The food was great (although my fish was a little saltier than normal). It was my boyfriend's first time here and he really enjoyed his meal. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer which is always great! I had the roasted fresh catch and my boyfriend had the steak frites. Our waitress was awesome... great customer service. We will definitely be back!
Food was terrible all around. The server brought a steak knife for a piece of fish. One person in our party got locked in the bathroom. The table next to us sent back the Brussels sprouts. I brought mine home to cook myself. It had been a few years since I had been to the La Mesa location. Won’t go back there again.
Accommodating for families with kids
The meat was tender, but the steak knife wouldn’t cut the broccoli as usual. Price is a bit high and the food is usually good not great
Great tasting food, must order the Brussels sprouts for appetizer, also the Lamb plate is incredible.
Service was excellent. The French onion soup was to die for. So savoury and delish! I wasn’t too impressed with the c’est la vegan dish. Boring in appearance, flavours were unimpressive, and the amount of wild rice was overkill. But I’ll definitely be returning and try a different dish next time because I did enjoy my experience there!
Birthday , unfortunately I had to send salmon back as it was over cooked and it took along time for it to return
Every trip to BoBeaus is excellent. The big draw is their roasted Brussels sprouts but taco Tuesday was also a hit this week. Flat bread pizzas, especially the spicy shrimp, is a fav. I love supporting the local businesses.
Absolutely love the decor and vibe, but especially love the food!
Brussels sprouts are amazing, all food was great! The upstairs area is really cool to eat in, much more private and a bit more quiet.
Very good food , friendly service and excellent spirits.
Had the restaurant week menu for our anniversary. Food was delicious and ambiance was delightful. These days I find lots of restaurants are quite loud with concrete floors etc. but Bo-beau had the perfect noise level. Loud enough where you’re not accidentally eavesdropping on your neighbors but could still easily hear my husband without having to raise our voices. I’m definitely interested in returning for more of their yummy food.
Service was slow even though we went early for dinner and it wasn’t too busy. Food came an hour after ordering; kids were very hungry. Restaurant Week dinner menu was average and choices not great. Not worth the value...
I am happy a friend recommended Bo-Beau restaurant. My family and I really enjoyed the meal. The Brussels sprouts were amazing! I had the mussels and my wife had the fish of the day, simply outstanding! I highly recommend this place for all occasions. We ate there during SDRW and it was well worth it.
Had a reservation and we were seated immediately. Our server arrived and asked if it was our first time at the restaurant and took time to provide information and answer questions. He was very helpful and made suggestions. He appeared to care about us and enjoyed his work. He continued checking on us during dinner and was prompt correcting a couple of minor issues. The pork shank was excellent and accompanying items were just fine. The portions were good. The other dinner was an outstanding pizza. We will likely return for dinner.
Love you guys
Our food was excellent and we enjoyed every bite. It wasn't crowded on a Tuesday night and we stayed for 2 hours, enjoying the food and laughing.
One of my favorite date night restaurants. Super cute inside. Amazing food and drinks and the best service!
Nice outdoor patio. Good kid play with bus.
Beef bourgenoin way too salty.
The food was fantastic (I had salmon), our table service was also very good. Rocky start, though, as we were led to a table that had not been cleaned/set and we were awkwardly left to stand in the middle of the restaurant while it was readied.
This was on the occasion of my birthday. Got chilly outdoors toward the end of our dinner, so beware if you are seated outdoors.
Bad service! Almost like they forgot us. Food was good except the Brussels sprouts were over cooked.
Friendly, excellent server, interesting food choices and good cocktails. Eaten here many times.
We chose to sit outside, not knowing that it is the kid play zone. If the hostess had told us when we were seated we would have sat inside. When we asked them to do something about the kids Screaming as they ran by our table, we were told that we are in the kids area. My beuf bourguignon was presented with a lot of grease on the plate. They did remake it and removed the fat. It was tasty. My husband had the flat iron steak which was tough. We will go back but only for bar food.
My wife and I went in for appetizers. Now normally we would get the Brussel Sprouts because they are amazing but not this day. It was getting cold outside so we decided to have the French Onion Soup and we split a Margherita flatbread with Pancetta. The French Onion soup was so good on a cool night with a rich broth and very tasty onions. There are so many ways to make French Onion Soup but this one is good. Now the Flatbread. The Flatbread itself is so good but we wanted to add some portion and chose the Pancetta over the Shrimp. I know Pancetta can be salty but his was way overboard on salt. W ended up pulling it off. We will get the flatbread again but awe will either try the Shrimp or just get it plain.
We had "just a little gem" salad and it was delicious. The salmon was cooked well but the accompanying farro mix a bit salty, boeuf bourguignon was tender but a little too fatty and also salty. Noting caught our eye for dessert, lot of cinnamon in the couple that were interesting and that is not a favorite spice for us. Service was some some what lacking, had to flag the waitress down for silverware and tea refiles, that should not be necessary at the prices. Overall it was OK.
Great ambience, excellent food and service. Will definitely be back.
This was our second time at this location, which we gave a second chance after revisiting the OB location and having a better experience there than before. We initially came for the anniversary special (a steal at $20.18) but two of us opted for the daily special, which was scallops. One of us did get the anniversary special (french onion soup and the pressed chicken), which was nearly too salty to eat. We had to send it back, which they discounted, but we still paid for the soup that we had to choke down. That wasn't the only thing that was over-salted, and we were also disappointed by the portions, which weren't really entree-sized, more like robust tapas. The special for $28 included only three medium scallops and a smear of root puree. There were, however, two big piles of salty black-eyed peas on the plate. Wine, beer and cocktails are okay, but not great.
Our first beer was warm, and the "sweetest" wine was as dry as a chardonnay. Is it really that hard for a "French" resto to offer more French whites? That said, the bar will do if you're looking for a nicer place to grab drinks in this quite neighborhood. Pair your drink with their brussels sprouts and deviled eggs—the two best things they serve.
The bread is the best example of what hurts this place. It was edible, though stale, packaged and served in cute craft bags. And therein lies the problem: It is too obsessed with its concept and ambiance and gimmicks, so it forgets to concentrate on the quality of the food coming off the line. (Sadly, this is the case with several Cohen Restaurant Group locations aside from Indigo Grill, whose food is still inventive and delicious.)
Sorry, but this sealed the deal that we won't be giving them a third chance. Too bad because they have an incredible location in our neighborhood, and we were rooting for them. There is simply too much good food (especially French-American food) in San Diego to dial it in.
The chain has a good rep but I was a bit disappointed this time. When I made the reservation they didn't tell me it would be prix fix (?) so there was only a choice of 3 entres. Then we did't get out of there for less than $200 for 2 people. Yes, there were some cocktails and wine involved. Won't go there again. Overpriced. The service was friendly and good, and we had a fun time discussing sifi movies with the couple at the next table.
Meeting & eating with old family friends. The outside patio was perfect for our friend who has a hearing problem. Although the evening was cold, the patio was very comfortable. Our server was very friendly & accommodating. The Brussels were amazing! Our friends loved the flatbread & moules. I was disappointed with the lobster cakes & pasta (lasgna noodles) which was bland & overwhelmed the lobster cakes. Overall, dining at Bo Beau’s was a satisfying experience.
Maybe it was a min off night but the service was slow and not on par with expectations of Cohn restaurants.
