Had a reservation, got there 1/2 hour early, signed in and went to bar while waiting. Never came to get us with a table. Was told she was waiting for us to let her no we were ready? She forgot about us. Bartender was great! Friendly and attentive.Waitress was not. Really need to work on their service, was disappointed. Service is a huge factor in everything these days. They have a great opportunity with their food and location but need to step up their service expectations from their crew
We were at Bo-Beau's at 6:00 pm on a weekday in April 2018. Really good service. Parents bring very young children there and that can be annoying. If we return, we would go later in the evening. The parents next to us were good and did not let their daughter play with loud electronics but there was some "potty" inquiries that did not add to the ambience. I don't understand the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. It's good but it is gigantic and can feed five. Get a half order for $9.50+3% which isn't on the menu. My wife's $25+3% Beef Bourguignon was way too salty even after they replaced it. At home we learned it's better on a bed or rice. My $23.50+3% Sam Bass fish was good but it was very small and just a bit well done. The blackened cauliflower that came with it was ok and the string beans were fresh but a tough. It's weird there was no starch on the plate.
This is a neat neighborhood restaurant and service was great. Unfortunately, the food is lackIng - we had the salmon and catch of the day. Probably should not of had seafood at an American type restaurant but we were craving it. My pan roasted fish was soggy and the salmon was lacking flavor.
The manager quickly came by twice to check on us, but she seemed rushed and was really curt.
Great food, cocktails and service.
I did not like my food that I ordered. The Brussel sprouts tasted brunt and the bacon was lost in the dish. The skin on the catch of the day was not crispy and the cauliflower was tasteless, overcooked, and no seasoning. My date did not like the flatbread. He said it was dry and bland.
Brussel sprouts were dee-lish. Food & service was great. Family and pet friendly. Will definitely will go back.
Very pretty outdoor seating. Nice drinks and creative menu. A little pricey.
The food was fine, but not worth the money. Our meal for two adults (no alcohol) and one child was $60 for Brunch. We're used to eating at Sheldon's across the street which is much more reasonable (and better food). The outdoor seating was nice, and we enjoyed the atmosphere, but would not go back. Too expensive for the small amount of food you receive.
We have enjoyed dining at Bo Beau on several occasions . This one was Easter brunch and everyone at our table enjoyed our selections and cocktails.
When this restaurant first opened in La Mesa I was a bit disappointed with the menu compared to other Cohen restaurants. However, on recent visits it seems some changes were made and now we have chosen to eat here more frequently.
We usually love this restaurant, but they seemed to be having an off night the last time we went. My husband's steak didn't have a lot of flavor, I ordered the lobster cakes pasta dish and was really surprised by how tiny the lobster cakes were. Drinks were great as always. Service was ok, we were sat close to one of the employee entrance and could hear them talking about work drama. Just wasn't as nice as we had hoped. Very well could have just been an off night.
Superb service......delectable dinner and great energy.
We went to bo-beau’s, at our son and daughter-in-laws suggestion for our 49th wedding anniversary.
Our waitress was Wonderful. She answered all of our questions, fulfilled every request, packed up our left overs. The boeuf Bourgeoin was so flavorful, the pork shank a little less flavor able. No quite fancy enough, but good for families and kids. Would go back again. Sallie
Stop. Just get the brussel sprouts. Amazing. Otherwise, I have not had a meal here I did not like. The cocktails are great, if you like whisky, get the Dr orders. If you like interesting beers get the Dutchess. This place used to be a flower shop, so the patio is very interesting. The rest of the place is wood/industrial so it ends up with a very modern classy look.
We had a special request to sit next to each other and right away when we were seated the request was met. Everyone in the building was friendly and attentive. The food was fabulous and we had the left overs for a great lunch the next day. They have craft beer on tap (not having craft beer is restaurant malpractice in my book).
Everything was fantastic and the waitress was perfect!
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The food is amazing definitely enough to share the cocktails are handcrafted Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Noise level was high. Hard ti hold a conversation.
Staff was very friendly. My friend is Vegan and they had a nice option for her. The brussel sprouts are the best I’ve ever had, really recommended!
seated right away..very attentive staff..great food..
The food and service was great per usual! The servers and the kitchen always work so well with my dietary allergies. The only downside was, because it was raining, the main dining room was jam packed and so loud, it was hard to enjoy ourselves while being so close to the other tables.
The food was very tasty and different from the normal. The sauces are special and the veggies are flash fried to make them extra delicious. The menu is rather limited, but good choices for all palates.
This restaurant offers a fun, and unique setting that is ideal for large groups of 10, down to couples "date night out." Bo-beau Kitchen & Garden offers a wide variety of delicious food that spans from the grass-fed midlands, to the coastal catches. Even their desserts are fantastic! We had the cherry cheesecake...phenomenal. Our server was prompt, polite, and cheery...I would highly recommend Bo-beau kitchen & Garden to anyone looking for delicious food, and and a fantastic atmosphere.
Our dog was able to join us on the patio. We had a great time for my birthday celebration!
Everything was perfect, except it was so very cold that we had to eat with coats on.
My new favorite brunch place! The crab cake Benedict was delicious. And it’s dog friendly which is a huge plus.
I wanted to love this place, but the prices were absolutely not worth the service and quality of food. The place wasn't that busy yet we waited quite a while for each of the things we ordered to come out. The food was bland and under seasoned, and really not worth the price. The ambience was nice, however, there was a table of loud people sitting nearby that ruined the calm, quiet atmosphere for us. Overall I would not return for dinner - perhaps for a drink or a small plate but absolutely not for a full meal.
My fiancé and I celebrated an early Valentine’s Day with dinner at Bo Beau kitchen + garden and it was so wonderful! The service was great, the food was AMAZING (especially the Brussel sprouts omg out of this world!), and the garden was the perfect romantic setting for our date. We will be coming back!
Been to Bo Beaus before and in OB. I like it fine but regret not specifying I wanted to sit indoors when I made the reservation. They put me on the patio. It was cold and the heaters aren't that efficient but a blanket for my lap did help. Was ample space indoors (it was a tuesday) but was told they were holding the tables for reservations. Fair enough... but there were lots of spaces that no one came to use. Not very accomodating...
The food was great (although my fish was a little saltier than normal). It was my boyfriend's first time here and he really enjoyed his meal. We had the brussel sprouts appetizer which is always great! I had the roasted fresh catch and my boyfriend had the steak frites. Our waitress was awesome... great customer service. We will definitely be back!
Food was terrible all around. The server brought a steak knife for a piece of fish. One person in our party got locked in the bathroom. The table next to us sent back the Brussels sprouts. I brought mine home to cook myself. It had been a few years since I had been to the La Mesa location. Won’t go back there again.
Accommodating for families with kids
The meat was tender, but the steak knife wouldn’t cut the broccoli as usual. Price is a bit high and the food is usually good not great
Great tasting food, must order the Brussels sprouts for appetizer, also the Lamb plate is incredible.
Service was excellent. The French onion soup was to die for. So savoury and delish! I wasn’t too impressed with the c’est la vegan dish. Boring in appearance, flavours were unimpressive, and the amount of wild rice was overkill. But I’ll definitely be returning and try a different dish next time because I did enjoy my experience there!
Birthday , unfortunately I had to send salmon back as it was over cooked and it took along time for it to return
Every trip to BoBeaus is excellent. The big draw is their roasted Brussels sprouts but taco Tuesday was also a hit this week. Flat bread pizzas, especially the spicy shrimp, is a fav. I love supporting the local businesses.
Absolutely love the decor and vibe, but especially love the food!
Brussels sprouts are amazing, all food was great! The upstairs area is really cool to eat in, much more private and a bit more quiet.
Very good food , friendly service and excellent spirits.
Had the restaurant week menu for our anniversary. Food was delicious and ambiance was delightful. These days I find lots of restaurants are quite loud with concrete floors etc. but Bo-beau had the perfect noise level. Loud enough where you’re not accidentally eavesdropping on your neighbors but could still easily hear my husband without having to raise our voices. I’m definitely interested in returning for more of their yummy food.
