The buffet was a bit of a surprise. We have been to the buffet before and there was always King Crab legs on the buffet. This time, we were not so lucky. While there was some seafood (shimp, mussles, etc.) nothing is as special as King Crab. Also, while they were offering mimosas at the entrace before the buffet, I was not quite ready for a drink, but requested one after being seated. I was suprised to see that I was charged for a drink that was offered gratis in the lobby. Before making another visit to the buffet, next time we will check to see if our favorite is being served.

Quantities were impressive. Some of the items, however, did not appear freshly prepared. For example, the tuna poke, the tell-tale being that the cucumbers were shriveled, plus, it was over- marinated. Many dishes were very filling, probably too much so, so I did not get to sample everything. I enjoyed the shrimp bisque, which I'm not sure many others discovered, as it was kind of in a corner by itself. The roast beef slices that I got were well done, temperature wise, and full of gristle and fat. I imagine that if I had arrived a bit later, that the center of the roast would have been more to my liking. The shrimp were good, but I had read online that the buffet would include crab legs. There were none, which was a disappointment, as that's actually what enticed me to go through all the trouble of paying an exorbitant fee just for parking, along with the pricey amount for the buffet. I don't feel I really got my money's worth. However, there were several excellent salads, my favorite being the berry salad with pecans. The the main dessert, which was prepared as one watched, was Bananas Foster. It might have been good, but I didn't try it because the bananas were sitting out in a huge stainless pot, already peeled for some time and smelled overripe, which was kind of a turn off. The prepared desserts all looked good, but the only one that I allowed myself to eat was a pecan tart with a cookie type chocolate base. It was quite good. My server was excellent. Overall, I feel that the attempt at exclusivity at this resort in charging day visitors or diners such a high fee for inconvenient parking serves to alienate local clientele. Granted, I'm sure it takes ungodly amounts of cash to run a historic resorts such as this, but it would go a long way with locals to make this place a bit more friendly to restore favorable opinions and referrals for dining and lodging here.

Excellent service and food. Beautiful view and room. Buffet had whatever you would want. Not cheap, but great value for the money. Also they made Sazerac cocktails per request.

Bathrooms had no paper towels, doors in the bathroom did not close properly. Hand sanitizer stations needed to be refilled Fiod was mediocre. This place has gone downhill.

For the cost of the buffet which is the same at 5:30pm as it is at 7pm, I feel that the GPI should do a better job of replenishing items. Food quality seems fair at best for the price.
