   My daughter and I went to join Mother's day Sunday Brunch at Blue Ridge restaurant. The food was great like always, not our first time there. We had been for seafood buffet, prime ribs buffet many times before. The only problem was the service, Carlos was our server, but he didn't pay much attention on us, except for getting our drinks at the beginning. He didn't come back to check on if we needed refill for the coffee or drinks. I had ask two other servers to help us for refills, who were very kind and willing to help. Carlos was busy with a 5 top sitting behind us, and other tables. He passed our table many times just glanced on us, without offering any assistance. Even my 12 years old daughter asked if Carlos was our server. I think this was the second time that I had him as server, and I would prefer not to have him as my server in the future.

   We once again had a very nice Mother's Day brunch. The food was very good and plentiful. The only thing lacking was fresh fruit, It would have been nice to have had a nice fruit salad and/or some melon, grapes, etc. Local Strawberries are in season now, they could have done something with them, I especially liked the banana bread french toast for its uniqueness. The shrimp and oysters were extremely fresh tasting. The service was excellent from the Valet who parked our car to the server who took care of our table. The Blue Ridge Dining room has a great view of the valley below and the mountains. It was not inexpensive at $65 per person for the buffet and $38 for valet parking for 2 hours, but given the special occasion and the selection of food, it was worth it.

   This is our second year driving from Birmingham to Asheville for Mother’s Day Brunch at the Grove Park Inn. The food buffet variety and quality is outstanding. Our server was very efficient and, above all, joyful! In recent years, my wife and I have enjoyed trying their regular Friday & Saturday night buffets as well as the Sunday brunch buffet. While we recommend all of them, they are surpassed by this special Mother’s Day event.

   The Blue Ridge restaurant at the Grove Park Inn offers a Prime Rib Buffet on Saturday evenings. It is one of the best buffets I can remember! Everything we tried was good, really good, or excellent. And the spreads were amazing-- hot lines, carving stations, salads, raw bar, soups, charcuterie, desserts. Room after room of tempting dishes to delight everyone in your party. And the service was so efficient and friendly!! Really exceptional.

   We've been coming to the Grove Park Inn and dining here since 1993. We've had many very nice meals here but last night's Friday Seafood Buffet was disappointing. The food was OK but many things tasted more like Sysco/Institutional rather than the hand-crafted meals of the past. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. We never before experienced the sub-par service we received last night. The waiter introduced himself, filled our water glasses and we never saw him again until he brought us the bill. He never brought us the clarified butter for our crab legs (as they are supposed to do), nor did he bring us towels to wash our hands with after eating our crab legs (as they as supposed to do) - I did see him walk past our table with a water pitcher but he kept going and never stopped to refill our water glasses. Thank goodness for the busboy, Lucas! He kindly brought us our butter and towels after I asked him to and came by to refill our water glasses. We had reservations for the Saturday Prime Rib buffet but cancelled our reservations after such inattentive service. It's definitely not what it used to be.

   Our go to place for special date nights. We will be going back soon! The maitre d is so nice and outgoing each and every time we visit. They definitely have great hospitality down.
