Family get together
We went to the Blue Ridge for Sunday Brunch. The buffet and different food stations were amazing. The shrimp and grits and crab legs were excellent. There were so many choices and the breakfast items were really good. Our table was right by the windows and the view is so beautiful. Our family enjoyed our first visit to the Blue Ridge restaurant very much. We will come back again.
Celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary with Sunday Brunch! Absolutely awesome!
First time to Blue Ridge Restaurant on the 10th floor of the Omni Grove Inn. Went there for Sunday brunch for my birthday. We were seated at the window after being given a guided tour of the various food options and stations. The food was out-of-this-world! The best selection, the classiest presentation, the very professional station chefs, the friendliest staff and the greatest view of downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The place is top-notch! By far, the BEST buffet variety and food we have ever eaten and we are airline people who have travelled vastly. Highly recommend!
We would give it 7 stars if we could. Great meal and service.
The view was amazing, though the windows could use a good washing. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. The food was pretty good. The desserts looked amazing but didn't taste that way. When my husband got the prime rib, only a small piece close to the end was left, and it didn't appear very appetizing to him. The roasted veggies and most items in the appetizer / cold seafood / salads section was very good. The hot dishes were OK.
My biggest disappointment was that there was NO display of fresh fruit for someone who might wish to have fruit for dessert, instead of the sugary, high-calorie options.
Surprisingly good food and attractively priced in contrast with many other restaurants of similar quality in the region. Delightful experience.
What a beautiful place to begin our first evening celebrating our 35th anniversary. Service and ambiance was fantastic. The buffet was outstanding.
Over priced buffet but beautiful venue.
Not impressed with seafood buffet. Let’s of food, but mediocre taste. Setting is great. Service was a little iffy. Have eaten there before for regular dinners and was great. Skip buffet and book other venues at Grove Park.
We have been to the blue ridge dining room many times and each and every time it is excellent...
Celebrating our anniversary.... food was great! Service and view superb!
We drive from Greenville! Love coming up for the seafood buffet on Friday night! Our waiter was phenomenal! Told Michael how well he did!
Blue Ridge Sunday Brunch Buffet at the Grove Park Inn: Exceptional! The wide variety of choices was amazing, including traditional breakfast omelets and pancakes, shrimp and grits (my personal favorite), several beautiful salad options, an incredible selection of seafood, and so much more. Be sure to try the peach crepe - delicious! The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Spectacular views if you're seated in the enclosed "terrace" area with floor to ceiling windows on 3 walls. Depending on where you're seated in the dining room itself, views are either completely or partially blocked by walls. Only negative: It was very noisy in the terrace section when full; the dining room may be quieter.
So much great food we had trouble choosing! I'd recommend getting a small sample of everything, including dessert. Try to schedule a reservation around sunset, the views are amazing!
30th anniversary. Wonderful location, unbelievable view. Wait staff is top notch!
Fantastic in every way!! Highly recommend!! A huge treat!!
My first trip to the Seafood Buffet and it was wonderful. Grove Park is always top notch in every facet of hospitality.
This was our first visit to the Grove Park Inn and Blue Ridge. It was an outstanding experience! The brunch buffet has everything you could possible want in a Sunday Brunch. And the fact that the GPI is in one of the most scenic and beautiful locations we have seen in this area is a big plus. We have already recommended it to friends and will continue to do so. And we will go back to try other restaurants at GPI.
Gorgeous view and excellent food. The service is good and the buffet food very very good. I’m not a buffet person, but this one is lovely
The Sunday champagne brunch was fabulous! Amazing food with options for both breakfast and lunch, the crab legs being our personal favorite! Great, efficient service. The staff was very friendly.
Sunday Brunch offers crab legs, shrimp, biscuits & gravy, omelette station, fried chicken, fried catfish, salads, salads, salads, shrimp & grits, made-to-order Bananas Foster.
Celebrated my husbands birthday with the Friday night seafood buffet. We enjoyed a beautiful Mountain View and excellent service. So many salad, side and entree choices!!!! Overall the seafood offerings were great. Frog legs were delicious. Who knew??? Our server brought a decorated plate with cookies at the end of our meal-nice! The only thing that I could critique were the crab legs, which were a little too salty. Wonderful dessert options including the bananas foster. We stayed the night and enjoyed the breakfast buffet the following morning. Very special birthday celebration.
Champagne Brunch that only comes with one glass? Food was great.
Excellent food and great place to celebrate 25th anniversary.
Delicious food, wonderful service, and a lovely view
Very good value with excellent service. A great spot. All staff were very attentive & courteous.
Pricy! I've seen better. Pricy! I've seen better. Pricy! I've seen better. Pricy! I've seen better. Pricy! I've seen better. Pricy! I've seen better.
First off, I am a HUGE lover of brunch, and am always trying new places. So I feel fairly experienced to write a review.
If you are in the Asheville area, you MUST seek this restaurant out. For $40 a person, I found the price to be extremely fair considering the availability and options. Upon arrrival, we were offered a complimentary mimosa prior to being seated. As it was our first time here, we were walked through each of the rooms and shown what was available. The seafood selection was impressive. And of course you would find everything here that you’d expect from a brunch experience- breads, cheeses, salads, pastries, egg and breakfast items, omelette station, blintzes, carved meats, etc.
Coffee and/or tea are included in the cost of brunch. Any additional beverages (cappuccino, lattes, or alcoholic beverages) were an additional charge. And this is definitely where they make up their money. My boyfriend ordered a Latte and a Bloody Mary, adding $18 to the total bill. Still, though, not unreasonable.
This brunch was comparable in selection to that of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach or the Wynn in Las a Vegas; both outstanding venues.
If you come here as a couple, request a window seat. The only window seats I saw were for 2-person dining; although beautiful views abound from most any place you could be seated in the dining area.
They even make their own in-house donuts. I’d like to consider myself something of a donut expert, and I can honestly say that the donuts at Blue Ridge were outstanding.
I found the dessert selection to be average. I chose to sample their cream brûlée, bananas foster, raspberry tart and a cupcake. All good, but nothing that had me wanting seconds. And I am definitely a dessert girl.
Service was excellent.
I’ll definitely go back to experience their brunch again when I am in the Asheville area this winter. And considering that it is only a 90-min Drive from Charlotte, I might just be back sooner.
The food was outstanding. Squash blossoms were so tasty and all seafood was fresh. Our waiter Carlos was over the moon! Try to get his tabke as he was so helpful. It was our 50th anniversary and we wete not disappointed with service food view or timung...esp Carlis!
We celebrate our anniversary every year by visiting Asheville for a weekend and eating at Blue Ridge for our grand finale treat. It will always be a beautiful place to visit but it was so hot in the restaurant and couldn't get tea refills for some reason I wish I had just stayed at home.
It's a very clean restaurant. The staff is friendly & helpful. Parts of the meal was good, but it just wasn't the way I like those particular types of food prepared. It was way overpriced not to really like what I ate. It's an interesting place to visit, but we won't likely be returning.
Always enjoy when in the area
Carlos was excellent and was very attentive. I was overjoyed to see that crab legs are now offered as steamed and chilled. This place never disappoints. From our hostess who seated us to our fabulous waiter and the buffet staff that is always so friendly and helpful. Lots of smiles from the staff and even if they were exhausted or tired they never show it. They have great management here as it’s at the level of experienced customer service that you should expect when paying a premium for your meal. Thank you again Blue Ridge
My husband and I went to the Blue Ridge for our birthday dinner. Looking forward to seafood and crab legs. We found everything to be just ok and over priced. The crab legs were salty, the catfish was fishy, the fried shrimp didn't seem fresh cooked and we didn't find a single clam in the clam chowder, The atmosphere was a bit stuffy. We felt as thought we were being watched by the servers. Every time we left the table to get something from the buffet, we'd come back to our table to find our napkin hanging on the back of the chair. Crab legs are messy so I was continuously concerned that crab juice or butter was left on the chair and was afraid to lean back in the chair. Next time we will buy crab legs from Harris Teeter and stay home.
My daughter wanted seafood for her birthday meal so we decided the Sunday brunch at Blue Ridge. Being handed a mimosa when getting up to hostess for seating is a very pleasant way to start service. Shrimp, oysters, and crab legs definitely made the birthday girl happy. Really nice buffet set up w/many hot/cold dishes to choose from and made to order stations for omelets and crepes, along with a desert station that was amazing. I thought is was just a tad bit pricey for the offerings...I've done east coast and west coast seafood buffets w/more selection at lower price point. But, Asheville is known for touristy pricing, so it's not too surprising. Service was top notch.
I have dined at The Grove Park Inn several times now but this last time I was surprised at the low quality of the oysters . It was very fishy tasting, not that nice salty briny taste that I am used to.
Overall the buffet is quite nice. Hope they improve that one aspect
We have been visiting Asheville twice a year since 2014 and dine at Grove Park Inn each time we are in town! This visit, we had 2 very special occasions! We were celebrating my husband’s 50th Birthday and our Anniversary! I specifically wrote we were celebrating my husbands 50th and would like a table by the window in the comments when booking! The hostess did seat us close to a window and informed me she received the request and would forward the info to our waitress! The waitress read the slip and placed it in her pocket! Our waitress was not the friendliest which was surprising for this hotel! Not very attentive! We stayed about 2 hours, ordered wine to celebrate with our adult kids, had the prime rib buffet which was awesome! While she brought 2 birthday plates with a lit candle to 2 surrounding tables, my husbands birthday was unrecognized! I was pretty upset! My husband did not want me to say anything to the waitress therefore we left! This high scale of a hotel and restaurant I do have to say I was pretty disappointed in our waitress! I would like to say the Food and view were awesome!
A little pricey for the food quality. It was just ok.
We were visiting friends who live in the Asheville area and made a trip here for the Champagne Brunch. We got the last available reservation on Open Table at 2:30pm - which was later than I wanted for brunch, but the only time available - although, I’m not quite sure why because there were only 3 or 4 other parties still in the huge dining room. I even called the restaurant directly to confirm that there would still be plenty of choices and fresh items available since we were the last reservation accepted and they reassured me that there would be. They did not disappoint in the choices and the vast variety of items offered. Beet salad, blue cheese wedge salad, jicama and watermelon salad, oysters, shrimp, crab legs, smoked trout, buttermilk fried chicken, catfish, prime rib, omelettes made to order, stratas, breakfast casseroles, bananas foster, bread pudding, and assorted dessert tarts to name just a few of the offerings. But, the star was the shrimp and grits - best I’ve ever eaten - so creamy and the best flavor - they were being served lukewarm, which was the only downfall, but still absolutely delicious! The mimosas were included in the $40/person price, but the OJ to champagne ratio was very OJ heavy. The Bloody Mary bar was nice though, with several choices and made to order - the spicy was exceptional! Our service was not as good as the food. This was disappointing, especially since there were only 3-4 parties left in the restaurant. We had to request crab leg crackers and lemons and order additional drinks from other servers walking by because our server was not as attentive as she could have been. Then, we were asked if we had been given a ticket for the Bloody Marys and when we advised we had not, she didn’t seem to know what to do (apparently, only the orange juice w/splash of champagne were included and anything else was extra). They ended up charging me $200+ twice on my bank card...but one of the charges did eventually credit back to my account.
