Blue Heron Steakhouse
The Blue Heron Steakhouse is worthy of another visit. They had really unique items on the menu and creative creations: broiled oysters, squash soup, lamb chops atop tomato chutney. This is a great steak house.
This is our 4th trip in the last year here. We love the food and it was just as good as ever this weekend even with the changing of executive chefs. The service was outstanding this visit! The temp of the meat was spot on (hard to do on a 40 for two porterhouse) and the special side dishes were very good, ie the coconut squash soup and lemon sautéed asparagus! We will return!
Waited 25 minutes after reservation time to be seated, server seemed he'd rather be anywhere but serving us, loud atmosphere, steaks were not prepared as ordered but ate them anyway because it was 10:00 and we were starving---when server asked how everything was (we were almost finished with our meal at that point) we told him about the steaks and all he said was "I'll make sure they know in the back". Hey, thanks Buddy!! We were looking forward to a nice meal with our son for UK family weekend, but it was just ok. Not a horrible experience, but could've been a lot better!
Steaks were cooked perfectly, side choices were a good variety.
We really enjoyed the Blue Heron. The food was delicious, the waiters were very attentive, knowledgeable, and polite and the atmosphere was wonderful. Relaxing and not too loud. Great experience! Will go back for sure!
Very nice unpretentious top quality steakhouse. The bacon appetizer is off the charts good. I had the NY Strip, medium rare, no frills. Perfectly cooked and not over-seasoned. Desert I had blueberry caramel cheese cake and a shot of Michter's Bourbon. Very reasonably priced. Dinner for two including two cocktails, one appetizer, two steaks, two glasses of wine, two deserts and two shots of bourbon was just over $200 including tax and tip. Outdoor dining available. Casual attire is OK (I wore shorts and a polo eating outdoors).
Good atmosphere, great service and best steak in town.
Great again! Full of people in town for Horse Sales. Everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves! Great spot!
Always love Blue Heron! ❤️ We’ve celebrated so many things here!
We went to Blue Heron to celebrate a birthday and it was perfect!! I had the pasta special with linguine, rock shrimp, crab and asparagus and other veggies in a glorious butter sauce- WONDERFUL! Service was friendly and efficient and the space is warm and inviting with the polished wood .. highly recommend!
Great evening. Waiter was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Owner stopped by and was friendly and nice. Good food, nice atmosphere. 5*
This used to be my favorite place in Lexington. Overall the experience isn't bad just not as good as it once was. Used to have the best old fashion in town by far, mediocre at best now. Food was decent and service was not bad, but nothing great. It's still an okay place, but not near what it was.
This is one of best places have eaten in very long time. The owner was fabulous and food was awesome. This will be a stop every time in Lexington.
Blue Heron is one of the best restaurants in Lexington today! The independently owned, quaint restaurants with sensible menus are to quickly becoming a thing of the past making Blue Heron is a special treat. We had a table for four to celebrate a birthday. We had a wonderful experience from our first greeting at the door til we left, never rushed or ignored. The server was knowledgeable and efficient. The owner did a great job refitting a historic house to become a restaurant while leaving some interesting details. Many locals eat here but it is a perfect location for out of towners during the Keeneland meets and football games if you can land a reservation.
Absolutely everything was excellent about our experience to blue heron. Well the check could have been less, but it was worth it. The staff were amazing and super friendly. The music was great! And OH MY GOD the food!!!!!!
Excellent food and a beautiful space for a Friday evening dinner.
Service was great and the food was even better!!! Lamb.. perfect!, Pasta with seafood.. perfect and the steak... perfect!!
Back to school
Good experience. It is just a little expensive to go often.
The food was truly nothing short of spectacular. My wife had the filet, and I ventured out and had the fried chicken. Her steak was cooked and prepared to perfection and the fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had! Really well done!!
Out of town friend
Halibut special was not any good
Great restaurant. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff.
My crab cakes were wonderful and everyone loved their steak . Half price wine was a nice bonus and the wine was good though a few more whites would have been lovely
Love CC and the staff
Disappointed that my sides weren’t boxed up along with my entree
Wonderful find in downtown Lexington. Great service. Cowboy Ribeye and the Friday special Prime Rib were both amazing. Would definitely come back when in town.
Great food and service.. Prime rib was excellent.
Blue Heron is seriously the best place for dinner in Lexington. Delicious food. Wonderful service. The best cocktails made by Joe & Patrick! Just overall a wonderful place for dinner.
Blue Heron never disappoints! The crab cake is fabulous, the old fashioned is the best in the city!
We love this place! Food and service we're personable and delicious.
Our favorite restaurant in Lexington, beats the others hands down.
It was absolutely a perfect evening. The food was delicious and the service outstanding.
Went during the week so it was very quiet which is the way I like it. The food was excellent as always and the service was 5 star. Not a lot to choose from on the menu but they always have specials which is usually what my wife and I get. My wife had salmon and I had an Italian shrimp and pasta dish which was superb.
Good service but the food quality was poor and for this reason is a poor value. We had multiple courses. From the appetizer (the special) to the steak the food was consistent poor. The steak, order as medium, was tough and not salted. Similar about the unseasoned sides and other accompaniments.
Have come to Blue Heron many times. This time was very disappointing as far as the food goes. I would almost have to say it was subpar
More seafood specials would be good. More new and diverse items on regular menu which has changed little foe several years. Fresh oysters were excellent.
I would recommend, this resturaunt to everyone, the seafood is as good as the Carolinas and the steak is great.
