The food was delicious and the atmosphere is wonderful. My friends and I had a marvelous time there.
I had been looking forward to eating at Blue Door for quite some time, but was very underwhelmed by the food and the service. There were a couple of extremely loud groups that made dining conversations difficult to hear and the food was bland - not under seasoned, but unseasoned. Service here was probably some of the worst I've experienced in some time.
The food was excellent and waitstaff very friendly and attentive.
I’d eaten at this restaurant before and decided to give it a try again. This time around was extremely disappointing. I ordered the deviled eggs as I had done previously. This time around crispy black eyed peas were added as a garnish. Bad decision chef. The peas were like unpopped kernels in my mouth-difficult to chew and totally devoid of taste. The eggs were not as good as before but could have been salvageable if not for the peas.
How does one destroy organic salmon? One destroys salmon by placing totally unknown accompaniments on the plate and completely destroying the taste of the fish (the very minute cut of fish at that-shame in you chef)! I was totally taken aback by the degradation of taste in less than 3 months.
I must say the two items were removed from my bill without my having to make the request.
Kudos to the waiter Todd!!!!!
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally took the chance during my birthday week. This place was everything I'd hoped it would be and more! Delicious Southern cuisine, amazing craft cocktails and caring staff!
Good food, comfortable setting, and friendly service!
The decor is adorable. The hostess was friendly. Our waiter was also friendly, but didn't check back on us enough. Wish there were a few more vegetarian friendly options.
Love the atmosphere at the Blue Door. Cocktails are excellent and the bartender will make what you want based on your preferences. We have only had breakfast so far and both times enjoyed the fried chicken and waffles and the omelette. Nice variety on the menu and the waitstaff is very friendly
went there specifically for the fried chicken which had been rated as some of the best in Chicago and it was delicious. unfortunately, the three other menu items ordered by me and two of my other guests were not as delicious. my duck confit was bland(under seasoned and lacking of some needed sauce) and was reminiscent off reheated Thanksgiving leftover turkey leg. my other guests also commented that their items were only okay. additionally, we had ordered a side dish to share which hadn't come out with the rest of our entrees - it actually arrived AFTER one of my guests was completely finished with his meal.
on the positive side, the hostess was extremely pleasant and helpful, the bartender (Kyle) was knowledgeable and very good, and the manager was also congenial and attentive. the restaurant was nicely decorated and the noise level was conducive for conversation.
overall, everything aside from their notable fried chicken was only fair and a bit of a disappointment.
We enjoyed our meal. The kale and brussels sprout salad was one of the best I've had, but it was absolutely MASSIVE! Does it really need to be that large?? Topped with a well-prepared organic salmon filet, it was quite delicious. My dinner partners also loved the squash soup and white bean stew. Well-made cocktails as well. The only downside is the front door has no barrier to the outdoors, so the extreme cold came wafting into the small dining room every time the door opened. I'll know next time to dress more warmly.
Went for Valentine's Day. Everything was great. Oscar's service was wonderful. The pierogies were delicious and my petite filet was absolutely fantastic. The drinks were unique and delicious as well.
The food was OK - disappointing compared to what table 52 used to be. The most annoying part was that they serve you a “from the kitchen” hummus appetizer, implying it’s complimentary, as we did not order it and it showed up on our bill.
Let me preface this with, I usually love Blue Door Kitchen. We bring all of our out of town guests here. On this occasion, we chose it for our Valentine’s Day dinner. I love the Hummingbird Cake typically. I was looking forward to it all week. But it was sadly so dry on this occasion. The deviled egg filling was dry as well. I’m hoping this was a one off night for them, but I’m afraid it may be a trend of a slide downward.
Overall it was a nice evening. Nothing spectacular or anything that stands out. Really the only negative was when I looked over and they were cleaning the restaurant. Granted it was towards the end of the night but you usually wait for guests to leave.
Everything I've ever eaten here has been superb, the grits in the shrimp and grits were a bit bland, but still cooked perfectly and delicious. Always get the deviled eggs.
Blue Door was amazing love this spot we came for brunch. I posted a photo on my IG story and got so many inquiries asking where we were. I didn’t want to tell I wanna keep this little gem a secret but I also want them to stay in business lol. Food was excellent we shared the Fried Chicken Benedict, Kale/Brussels salad and the Beignets (OMG beignets were on point!!!) Great job bar staff cocktails are a hit especially “High Tea”. Thank you for the great service Helen (our waitress) and the entire staff at Blue Door Kitchen definitely returning excited for patio season!!!
Great experience! Would definitely recommend, and plan on returning! Great staff and ambiance.
Great food and service! Our waiter was wonderful and the fried chicken lived up to the Oprah rave!
Love this place. Been many times for dinner, this was first time for brunch and did not disappoint! Food delicious, service wonderful!
Adorable place with great servers and amazing food!
