Blossom Ratings and Reviews
Went to Blossom for family gathering...great place. Our server was attentive, food was delicious and dishes creative. I had the catfish with grits and beans...and the grits were the best I've ever had! Portion sizes are good, not too small or too large. If you want great fine Low Country cuisine, go to Blossom!
We usually dine at Magnolias, which is Outstanding always, but Blossom is also handicapped accessible and owned by the same group with good parking nearby. We were greeted with a very friendly staff, seated at a table where my walker could be out of the way and we had an excellent waiter, Mark, who was attentive and helpful without being cloying. We had the buttermilk fried artichokes, which were good and a large enough serving to share and I had blue crab ravioli with a delicious creamy sauce. As an older diner,, the portions were large and I couldn’t finish either portion. My husband ordered the seared tuna but ordered it medium which was over cooked. He admitted it was his fault and will have it seared next time!
All in all, this was a great dining experience with too much food and a mis-ordered tuna.
We had a quick meal here before a ghost tour of downtown Charleston. We started with the She Crab soup which was very good. My wife's tuna dish was outstanding. My fried oysters were good, not exceptional in any way. I probably ordered poorly. The cocktails we had were also very good. Our server was excellent and I'd definitely try this again and order from their more specialized dishes.
We had a great experience and meal at Blossom the day after Christmas. We had reservations and were seated promptly. Our waiter, John, was fantastic and balanced taking care of us as well as a couple of large groups. I had the beet salad and the scallops on a bed of grits and spinach, all cooked and presented to perfection. My husband had the Cesar salad and the oak seared salmon with butternut squash risotto, again cooked to perfection. We shared the ceme brûlée for dessert, it was delicious. All around great dining experience, highly recommend!
We loved the friendly staff and our waiter was knowledgeable as well as entertaining. We had mahi-mahi and scallops, both dishes beautifully done. Since we were two, we appreciated the possibility of half bottles of wine. We come from a foodie area of Virginia and were not disappointed.
Wonderful dinner! One of our sons is a vegetarian & really enjoyed the veggie pizza, our other son loves fresh fish and he said the mahi was one of the best meals he’s had in a long time, my husband said the shrimp were perfect & the collards were flavored perfectly - I had the lump crab avocado salad and can’t wait to go back & have it again. It’s a rare thing that all four of us enjoy the same restaurant so much! Great service - can’t wait to return.
I couldn't give Blossom higher scores because, although my meal--the blackened catfish, was absolutely fabulous--my wife's meal, the night's SPECIAL, was overcooked, tough mahi mahi. I must hasten to add that the manager, who stopped by to see if all was OK, offered to replace the meal for my wife who demurred. He then simply took it completely off the bill without us asking - truly a class act.
Secondly, there were two large parties going on and our waiter seemed to have some difficulty keeping up with his responsibilities to one of them as well as to us. Perhaps a little "over assigned".
The final observation I have is that the restaurant was VERY noisy, therefore I wouldn't recommend for special occasions or dates if you actually would like to have a conversation with your dinner partner without screaming.
So in the food category, they are 1 for 2 with kudos for trying correct a bad dish; in the service category they are a little understaffed, and in the ambiance category, they're not "energetic" they are simply LOUD.
We'll stick with their sister restaurant a few doors down in the future and leave Blossom's for those hard of hearing.
