From our entrance, to our table, the ambiance, service, food and drinks it was all amazing. Such a great dining experience and the server and bartender went over the top to make our experience one of a kind. Highly recommend!

Our server was not attentive, he didnt help with menu explanations or selections and was more interested in selling wine than anything. Another server named Madelyn befriended us and saved the experience for us. Our group of 4 will not be returning.

I don’t know what was worse the $150/person pre fixed dinner menu that we weren’t told about when we made the reservation, the minimal food we were served (even more limited to pregnancy approved diet), the service (rude waiter with his fly undone the entire time), or it all put together. The four of us got robbed of $800 that night. If you want to be disappointed, treated with disrespect, barely have your water cup filled, corrected and shamed by a waiter, and leave hungry and dissatisfied, this is the right place. This place made the Olive Garden look like Mecca!

I don't believe that I've ever been so disappointed in a dining experience. For a restaurant that touts that they are, ".... deeply committed to providing unparalleled service and an extraordinary dining experience." that is the exact opposite of what we experienced on Saturday evening.

If you've gone to a tasting menu at any other establishment, you're typically greeted by the sommelier prior to each dishes arrival. This was not the case at Blood & Sand. We were simply handed our wine pairing sometimes before, sometimes at the same time as the food and sometimes 7 minutes after our food had arrived. Nothing was noteworthy, not one visit from the sommelier and really disappointing considering the touted prestige of their wine collection (note: on a previous visit we were guffawed at our request to stay at $50 for a bottle of wine). The amuse bouche was an oyster with Spanish-chorizo and while it was good, I've never seen a kitchen need to rely on the addition of another meat to make it shine. The same goes for the scallop that followed shortly after, it was bland and uneventful. The Dungeness crab bisque was easily the best bite of the evening. The lamb, as well as the beef and brussels were cooked well but left us wanting. While some of the food was decently prepared, the service absolutely destroyed any ability for our night to be salvaged. Our waiter went so far as to be the liveliest when inviting us back to another vent they are hosting later this month, yet ignored our obvious disdain for the evening and service.

When your patrons are willing to dine at such a lofty expense compared to other tasting menus in the city, there is a certain expectation that needs to be met. When a tasting menu and wine pairing cannot be executed correctly, I'd consider going back to a la carte entree's with your fabulous cocktail program only as to hopefully avoid disasters such as this past weekend.

Luckily for Blood & Sand, the character count limits my true review. The evening started off on the wrong foot. We were seated at one of the worst tables in the house next to the emergency exit. The lights were far too bright and the music kept pausing leaving awkward silence in the dining room. We didn’t receive waters for about 15 to 20 minutes after being seated then it was another 10 minutes until we saw our server. The service was poor with no cordiality offered by our server, no “welcome in” or explanation of courses etc. He also pushed the wine tasting menu to pair with the coursed meal. I get trying to make a buck and promote a wine pairing, but an additional $70 per person on top of the $150 per person meal seems like a stretch.

The timing was so off for the entire coursed meal. Took a while to get our one and only cocktail and then about 15-20 minutes of waiting time between the 5 courses. The food...the amuse bouche was the best bite of the night; it went downhill from there. The rest of the meal featured warm, fishy-smelling scallop tartare, runny and salty bisque (which we couldn’t even ingest) and an extremely al dente, tasteless egg yolk ravioli in a dishwater brodo. We were never asked for a refill on our cocktails and asked for the check after the third course. An hour and a half we will never get back.

For a meal that eventually could have cost us about $400, maybe even more if we would have had the opportunity to order more cocktails, I was incredibly disappointed. In short, if you have money you want to light on fire for poor service and below average food, give Blood & Sand a whirl.

I wanted to take my wife to a very nice place for Valentines Day dinner. We traveled from KC to St Louis and stayed the 13th and 14th. We had dinner here on the 13th. Our reservation was held so that was expected and then the rest of the meal unfolded miserably. My wife wanted the drink pairing with our meal, no biggie and then the problems started. I asked for a simple Budweiser and I was told the did not have. I politely asked how do you not have that ? The brewery is literally blocks away ? He brought me some weird foofoo millennial beer and it was nasty as can be. I then asked if they had captain and coke, no, I then asked if they had crown and coke, no. I then began to explain to the again millennial waiter or waitress really could not tell but he had one of those now soft male voices and under a mask you can't here him. So I drank water. At one point the manager/door guy came over and asked how everything was and I said okay. He looked at me with a face of entitlement as though there was no better food in St Louis to be had. Trust me a $500 dinner that was worth less than a damn happy meal at McDonald's. Don't waste your money folks !!!!!!!!!!!

The cocktails were good which is ultimately why I went here! I wasn't informed when making the reservation that there would be a set menu, which if I had, I would not have booked the reservation and would have planned to come on a different night. Fortunately, the GM was willing to make some accommodations given my dietary restrictions which was great and they didn't have to. I did enjoy the food. It was very good but I don't think it was worth $150 very good. I would definitely come back for drinks and perhaps the bar menu as the bartender was great and the drinks were awesome.

There did seem to be some...conflict I guess I'll call it between one of the waiters and the bartender and kitchen or something, which made for a couple of awkward moments given I was seated right in front of them. I get all work environments have conflict but I'd recommend either not seating customers in front of the waiter pickup station or going somewhere else to engage in whatever conversations folks need to have.

Got the tasting menu with my girlfriend. Brief review of courses and service:

Pierogi: incredible, must have if you like truffle flavors
Raclette: sauce too thin, seasoning not present

Onion soup: it was okay I guess. Too much pepper.
Terrine: was nice! The beets and celery leaf were surprisingly nice little bites.

Scallop: fantastic
Cassoulet: the fried boar bits were fantastic. Too much bean.

Wagyu: its wagyu!
Bass: fish was good, winter vegetables were a great choice! Sauce was another thin watery one.

Chocolate cake: good
Beignets: better

Service was a little awkward - twice the owner approached our table with cocktails/dishes we didn’t order. Our order had to be taken twice because it got lost.

Took my wife for her birthday and we had an absolutely wonderful evening! The 5-course tasting menu was incredible. We did not have one taste of food we did not love. We added the cocktail pairing and really enjoyed that too! Some of the best cocktails we have ever enjoyed! I cannot wait to go back, even if it is at the bar for a smaller meal and drinks. But will certainly be back for the whole experience again sometime soon. Such a perfect place for a special occasion or just a night out!

We were seated in the back room. It's covid so it's understandable that tables are spaced out and that the extra tables and chairs must be stored somewhere. However, all the extra tables were shoved into the back room where several guests were seated and not very well organized. It doesn't make for a good view. We were seated in the corner with a make shift booth between the wall and pillar. It was a little tight. We asked the manager if we could move to a different table which he was going to check with our server but clearly forgot. We asked the server ourselves when he came back but the other tables were reserved for the evening. That's understandable but it was clear that the manager did not bring it up to our server. Our server was not very attentive. Some workers were more attentive than others. The food and cocktails were good but for the price the atmosphere and service should be very prompt. I won't go back until post-covid and give them another chance. Until then, I would stay away. I cannot recommend this place right now.

Absolutely outstanding! This is a very unique place.
The menu is delightful, and definitely not typical. It is also set up in a traditional manner.
To truly experience B&S go with an open mind for fantastic food.
Be ready to start with a wonderful old style cocktail while you contemplate the menu.
We enjoyed nutty “Old Fashioned’s” as we looked over the menu deciding on Kangaroo tar tar, oysters and foie gras.
We had scallops and lamb for the main course.
We took home Beignets for dessert.
This is truly a great place for classic dining.
The atmospheres very up to date, and far from stuffy.
If you like classy casual, consider yourself adventurous and would try different things, this is your place!

Phenomenal food. Way over priced. Wine pairings poorly timed so you had to order extra before the food came to enjoy it. This drove the bill way up! The service was very slow and it took a very long time to get through the 5 course tasting. If I went back I would have al a cart at the bar and enjoy. Beautiful setting!

It was absolutely the best place I ever dined at. All the food from starters, to mid courses , to main , to dessert was amazing. Drinks were also spectacular. My client had the 10 course tasting experience, and I was surprised how big the portions were. We were fortunate enough to be the only customers dining in that night, so it was like we had our own private dining experience. I cannot say enough and how wonderful the food tasted, how all the ingredients worked well together, and how amazing this place was to dine at.

Overrated. I went with the 5 course meal. They highly recommended scallops which ended up being gritty with sand from not being properly cleaned. The French Onion Soup was nothing beyond just okay, but isn’t anything I would recommend. The steak was nicely cooked and wasn’t an awful cut. The chocolate cake was nothing spectacular from a texture or taste perspective but the passion fruit on the side was a good flavor compliment. I think although the staff were trying to be helpful the overbearing timing of trying to get us to chose when we had menus open still deciding showed their lacking ability to read a room. As well as the continuous sales pitches although I’m sure once again meant to be helpful came off very pushy. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for a nice night out, it’s a tourist trap.

They have completely changed the menu since the last time we were there. Food was mediocre at best. Overpriced for the food. As well we asked for a wine selection as we had one selected but their wine person recommended another which was terrible and the reason we feel he recommended it is because they had some special that they were giving away glasses with it. Their cocktail list is amazing and bar menu as well. If we were to go back I would only do bar menu or cocktails as their dinner menu is not worth the price

When you first walk in, you feel like the music is blasting you in the face, but you quickly get over it. It’s ideal so you can’t hear the conversations around you. The service and food were both exceptional. They are also very diligent about following COVID guidelines which is very much appreciated.

The food was amazing, but the waiter ruined the whole experience. He had a tattoo that said "ok" on his chest ans that should be what he strives for in the future. Horrible waiter ruined the experience for us. You would think when you spend ~$1300 on dinner for 5 people you would be amazed by the service... definitely needs new servers.

We attended a 5 coursed & paired wine dinner. It was a great evening! Plus.... We felt safe & tables were safely spaced.
The food was interesting & delicious, as usual. I think many would give it 5 stars but I’m very particular about the food. Always creative & beautiful.
If I had any complaint it was, slow to get our 1st cocktail. It would’ve been nice to sip on it before the tastings started.
Also, the background piped in music was a little too loud. It’s hard enough anyway to hear waiters clearly with their masks on. They were very accommodating & did adjust the music volume.
This is a place that never disappoints. ALL of their cocktails are fabulous!

Fantastic service and incredible drinks. The food was just ok, though .. Not worth the $331. I feel I do better with steak prep just as well with prep on octopus, grouper and scallops. I’m being a little picky but you should at this price point. It’s was only memorable because of the service and drinks.

THIS IS THE PLACE! If you are trying to decide where to have a good meal, this is the place. Go here. Now. They have an impressive wine list and for those who don't drink, they will make a deliciously refreshing mocktail for you. We had the 10 course tasting menu and almost mistook it for Heaven. The seasonal flavors and perfectly cooked courses were scrumptious.
