Blind Dog Ratings and Reviews
Every time we come to Park City, our first dinner out is always at Blind Dog. We love the sushi there, and always sit at the sushi bar. Mike is our favorite sushi master, and we absolutely love everything he prepares for us! We don’t even look at the menu anymore! Absolutely go there!!
The Blind Dog has exceptional décor which is warm and inviting. The food, truly outstanding in every respect. Chef's menu selections has something for all demanding tastes. One of the changes I would like to see made is OFFERING bread with the salad course. I expected it especially with a small plate to my upper left and nothing to use it for. Another change would be is to SLOW THE COURSES. My wife and I were out the door in less than an hour after dropping $150. When on vacation I don't like to be rushed.
I recommend we eat at Blind Dog as I had eaten there in the past and had a good experience. Unfortunately, my experience this time was not good. We had a large black hair in our mac and cheese. While the waiter took it off our bill, he never asked if we wanted a new one. Everyone in my dinner party found this odd. Additionally, the waiter wasn't attentive. I had to get up and get silverware from a vacant table and he never brought what we asked for... more water, more grav, etc. Finally, one of the meals came out cold. I am not a complainer but I found this experience really awful and thought it should be known to potential customers. I was also embarrassed as I was the one who recommended Blind Dog to my dinner party.
We had a group of friends visiting and wanted to take them to a good spot off Main St. Blind Dog is usually our go to, but this time....
Arrived on time for our reservation, and seated right away. Waiter did a decent job, but his back up sucked. Seems there was a mild celebrity in the other room and there was not a busser with a clue in ours. Seemed kinda high as the busboy would start to clear a table then get distracted. Worse for the restaurant than us as they had empty tables sitting on a busy Saturday night. Our food came out and mostly pretty good. The appetizers were served followed by entrees without anyone clearing the table. The wine was not refilled, and haphazard clearing of the table but still leaving an empty wine bottle and a few plates. Food pretty good: favorites were the steak special with a crab cake on top, and the appetizer sushi and cauliflower bake were good. Mahi with gumbolaya was a miss, but not like anyone asked us how things were.
In all fairness, BD is usually consistent. But this night, not so great.
Great food experience. Very fun place and easy to get to. The sushi was excellent and the short rib special was delicious. Our service was excellent and the overall dining experience was great.
Only one slight negative is that the tables were a little on top of each other against the wall. Too close to each other but would be excellent for a group dinner.
Food was just ok besides the sashimi which was delicious. For a restaurant which is obviously trying to operate at a high caliber the lighting was really terrible and bright and brought the whole experience down. We let like we were sitting under klieg lights. When we asked our server about turning them down and were told that it was too difficult to figure out which lights went with which controller....lame, turn them all down!!
The menu is eclectic, so there is something for everyone from sushi lovers to vegetarians. I love the fact that this restaurant uses REAL blue crab, not Krab, in its rolls - I wish more restaurants offered this - no one can truly enjoy imitation crab. The lobster egg roll appetizer is delicious and they have mac n' cheese 3 different ways - all yummy! Lots of comfort food here. Bottom line is there is something for everyone on this menu and all the offerings we have had there have been good. We seem to get the same waiter, Hop, many times, and he is great - attentive and friendly. This place is very popular and I can see why - it has a great atmosphere. We love the fish facts and quotes on the walls! Who knew someone caught a 975 pound marlin off the coast of North Carolina! My one criticism is that when I order my mule, I want it served in a copper cup, not a lowball glass. I saw some tables receive copper mugs, so I do not know why mine came in a glass, but a mule never tastes as good in a glass! We come to this restaurant every time we ski in Park City, and as of now, it is still on our "go-to" list!
We celebrated a friend's birthday here. Our poor server and hostess were managing a night with servers out, so it put more stress on the ones working. They went above and beyond trying to make us happy and did it all with a great attitude and smile. The food was incredible!! We had spicy shrimp and sashimi appetizers that were delicious. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop and steak. The steak was cooked to perfection! We now carry a photo around to use as an example of how it should be done. The pork chop was outstanding. A definite must have. The presentation was beautiful and really enhanced the experience. Blind dog is on our list of restaurants we will return to everytime we're in town.
If you are from LA, New York, Chicago or any other good sized city the Sushi will not seem special. The waiter was overwhelmed and the restaurant was woefully understaffed. The food, service, ambience and overall reputation of the restaurant is not desired as currently managed. The experience was so poor, I would not go back.
Exceptional food flavors and preparation for our 4 person group on a busy Sunday evening. Service was super friendly and entertaining, but there wasn't enough support staff, you could see some tables not being cleared quickly, and servers and the hostess scrambling to help.
Don’t run out of food if you are a restaurant, you only have 20 Dreamloafs for a Saturday night? Waiter couldn’t get the order right, he thought I wanted salmon after they ran out of my first selection, I ordered crab cakes and he brought out a single crab cake, he also brought the wrong wine. He refilled the water twice and never came back for the remainder of the 30 minutes. Mashed potatoes and spinach were cold and overpriced.
I have visited Blind Dog 3 times in the last 3 years. This last visit on Dec. 30 we felt that the overall service was abysmal, from the hostess to the army of servers. The food was terrific, but the poor service really left us with an overall negative experience with this restaurant. There are so many great restaurants in Park City- where the guest feels welcomed. Blind Dog is not among them.
