Comfortable for the entire family, the Black Iron interior is warm woods, dark steel, and natural stone, providing a modern yet casual dining environment. Located rinkside in Mountain Village, signature dining “fire-tables” accent the outdoor plaza, the perfect spot for people-watching and liquid restoration after a hard day on the slopes. Black Iron offers energetic local musicians, a lively après ski bar, state-of-the-art sound system, and flat screen TV’s showcasing the big games.
I had the buffalo strip steak. It was incredible. I also had the tater tots. They were so good. This place is great
Just meh. Flat iron special was ok. The blue cheese mashed potatoes were too blue cheesy.
Loved that that the restaurant had so many plant based options. The cauliflower and chickpea curry was fabulous.
Terrible food and service.
So good! Kid friendly and very nice staff. Food was amazing
We didn’t realize that the restaurant doesn’t open until 5. So, when we showed up, we were quite literally the only people there. A reservation was unnecessary. The food was fine. Our waiter was new to waiting tables. He was okay, he just needs more experience.
We have been to Black Iron Kitchen and Bar for 3 consecutive years. The main dining room looks nice, although both my children did not like their dinners and our waiter looked sick. Lunch their is much better. We are never going for dinner again.
Made reservations for a nice dinner, expected a lot more. We started out at the bar next door that’s also owned by the hotel and even the bartender told us not to go over. We saw how mismanaged the bar was, but decided to give Black Iron a shot. Before we were even seated, none of the staff looked like they knew what they were supposed to be doing. We sat down and two different waiters came to our table, one split water everywhere and didn’t come back to clean it up. We looked at the menu and it was nothing like we had seen online. Then the chef was walking around and stopping at all the tables, skipped us, and kept making rounds. The wait staff were running around looking like this was everyone’s first night at a restaurant. I really expected better.
This was our 2nd visit to Black Iron. We’ve always enjoyed the good, great drinks and nice atmosphere. Service was great at this visit; server was very attentive. Restaurant was not busy and we were pretty happy as we had two little ones with us. Maddie’s Tater Tots were an excellent start. We had a party of 8. There are 7 rectangular tots so order more than one serving. I was eating lighter so the Kale salad with added Hanger Steak was perfect. The steak was cooked perfectly. Others in our party had the Bison Strip Loin and highly recommend the Buffalo Short Ribs. Excellent wine and cocktails. One of Our desserts was just ok The Apple Streusel was simply cooked apples with white cheddar cheese. We did have one guest with a peanut allergy so maybe there was supposed to be a crumbled topping on the streusel but as it was served it was pretty bland. Otherwise we’ve always loved this spot and will be back on our next Mountain Village trip.
We loved the LIVE music! Great service & food! Overall, great experience!
They were out of the first two appetizers we ordered, then my sons burger came with Paper in it attached to the cheese. The server was good and very apologetic. Food was mediocre at best
Went there for Christmas dinner. Table was not ready. Got seated 45 minutes later. Ran out of beef dish on Christmas menu. Then ran out of dessert on Christmas menu. Desserts brought to the table were the worst we have ever had.
Manager was a great guy - he tried to defuse the problems being expressed by multiple guests- but Kitchen was out of control. Waiter summed it best as a CF! Had to have my kids- in their 20’s- translate.
Our server was awful! Thankfully the Manager stepped in. Lamb chops were superb.
We did not like any of our food and left to get food from somewhere else.
On vacation, wanted to try this restaurant.
New menu. Staff inexperienced with many of the food items. 3 of the 5 entree's were overcooked. The location and menu have potential.
Sat by one of the outdoor fire pit areas for dinner. Sat and sat and sat waiting for someone to come by and even take a drink order. It was by no means full, a lot of open tables inside and out and seemed to be properly staffed. We were seated, with menus and no one cane back for at least 15 minutes and then we overheard a couple at a table saying they were almost done their glasses of wine and hadn’t even had their dinner order taken. We got up and left. Not worth it.
I won’t go back.
Great location and ambiance. Service is terrible. Food is ok. Love this place and wish they would keep it simple. Quit remodeling and changing the menu. People just want good drinks and food.
The worst restaursnt experi
It’s more an apres ski place then a good restaurant. The service is fine but the food was truly average at best. The onion rings were under cooked. The side vegetable was good. They didn’t have a few beers that were on the menu. Disappointing. But the salmon was good tasting. Thank goodness
Ridiculously poor service combined with extravagant prices. I’d rather go on a diet.
They had someone quit, but they did their best. Food was great!!
A bit costly, but the food is really good. Love the inside & variety of menu items. My only advice is don't get the tuna for $22. It was delicious, but literally 3 small bites. Absurd. Burgers & sandwiches are great.
Mac and cheese is amazing. Service and food in general were great.
Solid food and location, then Tracks for desert
Nothing more than airport food. Avoid as there are better alternatives
Great food, great service
The food was very good as were the cocktails. They have a beautiful outside dining and drink area with flames in the middle of the table for great ambiance and warmth. We visited several times while we were there. The only complaint is that they did mess up the order both times on at least 1 dish but there were small misses and did not deter us from returning. Service was a little slow but it was also Spring Break and the places was packed. We would definitely go back again.
The restaurant itself was very pretty and the food was OK. The service was really disappointing. First the waiter brought a shared appetizer with no small plates. When we asked for some, he still didn’t return after several minutes so we had to get our own, at which point the food was no longer warm. Then we were served soup without a spoon and had to wait several minutes until one materialized. The water we were served was warm so we asked for ice. The waiter brought 2 small plastic cups with ice in them for 5 people to share. He seemed irritated by our requests but we felt that side plates, soup spoons and ice were not too much to ask for as these are pretty standard in most restaurants. The food was fine but we felt that many of the dishes were too rich and the portions were small. Overall a disappointing and expensive experience.
Disappointing to see an entirely new menu - combining lunch and dinner. Hopefully, will get back to its prior standard. It had been quite good all summet and winter
Made a late reservation for 7 at 730. Everyo e enjoyed the experience. The server was polite and attentive. Food was great.i had the fried breast and it was was delicious and tender. Portions were generous.
Definitely a stop not to miss in Telluride.
Great place to enjoy a glass of champagne and oysters that stay perfectly chilled in the cool winter air while the cozy fire keeps you warm. Open late. Good for people watching.
Second year in a row of coming to the Black Iron while in Telluride. Once again, it did not disappoint.
Excellent, attentive service. We were a table of 8 and all of us had our meal delivered hot and within a reasonable time frame. We had gnocchi, salmon, fried chicken, and spare ribs. Everything was fantastic. The only negative is they were out of the cabernet wine on the menu and only had one glass of the other offering available.
Consistent good food and bar is fun.
I am not a complainer, but for the price, the service was terrible. The server forgot to put my son’s order in with the rest of the family and didn’t rush it or anything so by the time my son got his food everyone else was done. The server didn’t apologize or give us a discount. Not impressed at all.
Great place. Food and service was excellent and we were able to get a table without a reservation which us rare in Telluride.
Charbroiled oysters! A must! Brussel sprouts are great as well. excellent service.
