We made a reservation and were seated separately from other guests which we loved(due to covid) and extra privacy. Only issue was if we needed something (ie extra dressing or condiments) there was no one around to ask.
Front desk hostess was very rude and didn’t know how to speak to guests on her restaurant. This isn’t McDonald’s I don’t expect to be treated this way in a nice restaurant
Black Angus is always good foodstuffs a reasonable price. Steaks are tasty. Love their bread.
It was unusual eating in a half empty restaurant. But it was "OUT" to dinner which we haven't been able to do for awhile. Still the same food and service.
It was good as usual, we like the campfire feast great deal and good choices, it hard to beat.
We loved our waitress. She was attentive and helpful!
food has gone way doehill but the prices sre still vey much the same and expensive, Cowboy cookie was very hard (for my birthday) and couldn’t eat most of it..
Always consistently good. Can't find better cheesy garlic bread than here!
Everyone was friendly. We got there early way before our reservation and we were seated shortly thereafter. Service was excellent the food was as good as we remembered
The steak and prime rib were cooked to perfection. Couldn't have for a better birthday experience.
We had a lovely time. It was delighful to be served a good meal in a comfortable atmosphere. We had a coupon for the cowboy dinner for 2, and took a LOT of it home for a really good lunch the next day.
Like the fact the do reservations, Great service even with all COVID rules.
All outstanding except table location in bar made for noisier than usual experience. Understandable due to Pandemic restrictions.
Always enjoy Black Angus in El Cajon - great service, food and friendly staff.
KUDOS to Peter for a great dining experience!!
Everything was great my 12 year old loved it
We specifically booked this restaurant because it offered outdoor seating - which is important during the pandemic. When we arrived, we found that the outdoor seating had NO overhead covering. It was 91 degrees outside with a blaring sun - neither of which would have made it comfortable or tolerable to sit outside. We reluctantly chose to eat inside instead. However, I feel the restaurant should have informed us of their shortcoming (via OpenTable or a phone call) or put some kind of covering over the outdoor seating (even if it was to be temporary). Our food orders were not handled well either - all the meat was undercooked and the appetizers arrived about 90 seconds before our main dishes. Clearly, the kitchen was either understaffed or poorly managed. Our server was friendly and courteous.
Very accommodating for inside vs outside seating requested (there were no tarps to shield the hot sun; no one was sitting outside). They got us seated & waited on right away. My brother & I got the 2 largest prime rib cuts, his rare, mine medium rare. We could barely cut through the prime ribs and chewing was long and tough. Never experienced this poor prime rib quality. Black Angus was a favorite.
Had 7 pm reservations and didn’t get seated until 7:47pm.
Over priced and not quality food. You can get better quality and cheaper food at other places. My ribs I ordered were dry and did not fall off the bone 😩
Our server "Coco" was great - food was delicious and ambience was enjoyable. Great break from COVID jail.
My first time at this location (Friars Rd one was demolished). Parking lot was a bit confusing because big section close to entrance was blocked off. NowI know. We were seated quickly upon arrival. Server Monique was very helpful, but didn't anticipate refills/more of things quickly. She had other tables, of course. Food was served with appropriate 'eating time' factored in. First time with carrot cake for dessert and it was really good. Staff was very polite and kept table cleared of finished plates. We didn't feel rushed to leave to 'turn the table.' I love the big banquette booths that make it more private and easier for conversation. Overall, very happy and will return. I hope they open for lunch once pandemic restrictions loosen. AND PLEASE BRING BACK THE HALIBUT SANDWICH AT LUNCH!!!
The top sirloin steak I had was rubbery and bland.
The steak and lobster my husband had was full of fat and they did not include butter dip for the lobster.
We have been going there for years and this was the first time we’ve had cheap cuts of meat.
I’m willing to give them one more try but if the meat stays subpar I won’t go here any longer.
Food was great! We ordered the trio special that was available on open table. There was some confusion about how we ordered without a coupon, but they honored it. It was amazing! Will definitely do it again!
Our server Coco was really nice and attentive. Food was delicious. Excellent dinner.
We had a bad experience at this restaurant a few months ago and decided to give it another chance since we were in the area. I think I was let down even more than the first time. The service was pretty bad, the food was very bland and my drink tasted like
water. The worst part is when the server brought our salads out and literally right behind her was our main courses so we didn’t even get to eat our salads because the main dishes would get cold and not to mention the server pretty much throwing the plates on the table. My ribs were dry and had very little flavor, my wife and daughter had filet mignon and my son had the NY steak all of which were extremely bland as if they weren’t even seasoned. We won’t be back.
Good food good customer service. We love Black angus.
The waiter David and the manager Jeff were very helpful. And the food was all very tasty. We would return. Thank you. Rick D, San Diego, CA.
I had a Top Sirloin with loaded baked potato and broccoli and my husband had a cheeseburger with every on it plus onion ring. To full for desert. Very very good. :)
It’s was okay . The food was delicious but the service can’t be better .. one of the waiters seemed very rude
Definitely need reservations
We are so glad to be back at one of our favorite restaurants ! Food was great !
David is an awesome server. We always request him.
We were pleased with our experience at Black Angus. We didn’t have to wait since we had made the required reservations and were seated at an open and pleasant area. Everything was very clean and has a nice aroma. The service, food and server were just great.
Safety measures were in place. Steak cooked exactly as requested. Attentive service.
We were steady customers at the Grantville location for years. Loved it there. El Cajon location cannot hold a candle to the food and service that we received there. Although my steak and potatoes were tasty and nice & warm my 2 sons and his wife complained about the taste and the food being luke warm. The service was extremely slow. We were at the restaurant for almost 2 1/2 hours before we were able to leave. Very disappointing!
We had a wonderful time!
Had a GREAT server...Eileen (?) on Sunday 3/21/2021
I requested a quiet table. They had a good table for me. The problem was the screaming child across from us. The child ended up standing on top of the table behind their booth (right next to us). Parents could have done a better job. Steak was ok. Scalloped potatoes were more like mashed.
Well, they are just reopening, so they deserve a little charity, but...
The bread was dry and cold. The filets were NOT cooked to order. Potatoes & broccoli were pretty good. Desert cake was also not moist.
They're trying, but it was definitely not up to par.
Our server, Coco, was quite good: efficient and personable.
But, DEAR HEAVEN, is that place EVER going to re-carpet, re-upholster, or remodel?? The interior is just short of disgusting. (Why didn't they do it when the place was already COVID-closed?!)
Food was not hot just warm and not cooked correctly cocktails were extremely watered down properly last time I’ll go there
Excellent as always
Outside patio was cold, needed more heat lamps or more coverage.
Received entree 1hour after ordering. One came out cold, the other medium. Like one entree was waiting for the other to finish and then both sat a bit after.
Entree steak ordered medium rare, came out medium+ and was too tough to cut or even tear with fingers.
Ordered a side of fried zucchini- that came out right away and was very hot and fresh. It was all really tasty. No complaints.
Hopefully if we come back again the food will be much better. This time was a definite fail and if it were my first time there - I would not return. But since I have had good experiences in the past I will.
