The menu is an exercise in simplicity, common sense and good taste under the watchful eye of Head Chef Blaine Duffy

We went on Sunday dinner at around 7pm for a birthday celebration. The food was great and the staff serving our table (with an Italian accent!) is very polite and patient. We ordered Steak Tartare and Roast Cod as mains and both taste delicious. Would try their cocktails next time.
We enjoyed the warehouse space and cocktails were quite good. However, unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The fries were soft and cold, grilled cod fish amd beef tartare was over seasoned and salty and the miso corn had a sour tang. We wanted to thank the staff for taking the feedback well and explained that for dinner service they had 3 new cooks. We had the cost of mains deducted from out overall bill which was appreciated. However, cold soft fries was almost unforgivable.
We went for the £25 prix fix menu before 7pm and I was truly stuffed by the end of it. Quality of the food was great, staff were really friendly and attentive, and overall it was a great evening.
Entrance is a little bit hard to find - follow the outdoor lights, turn left and then right to get to some stairs. Up the stairs and you'll see the bar through the window in the door.
Food was really below standard - no seasoning to speak of on my meal.
Staff were not helpful. Would definitely not recommend this to anyone.
good food and service, a tad overpriced but you pay for the atmosphere.
you wouldn’t come across this restaurant by chance. Don’t be put off by the exterior. Once we wandered in (no signs) and went upstairs we found a wonderful welcoming friendly restaurant with amazing food and fantastic service. Busy even on a Wednesday at 6pm with a good atmosphere. We explained we were in a hurry and this was no problem at all. Highly recommended
Have been visiting this restaurant for quite a few years. This visit I thought was rather expensive as we didn't eat that much or drink that much. A couple of burgers with chips and a few drinks ended up at nearly £80.00... will be wary of visiting again only because of price..
Great quirky place, but brunch a bit over priced. Loved the atmosphere and staff were great. There needs to be more better options for brunch.
It’s a great space and always feels quite special.
Great ambience, food & friendly assertive service. It was iur wedding anniversary and they very kindly gave us 2 glasses of champagne
Super evening with all our friends
Thanks to all of you
Great food and atmosphere, a bit hard to find.
At brunch with large groups and the piano playing the restaurant was very noisy and therefore it was difficult to maintain a conversation. However the food was so delicious it was easy to overlook the noise!
A hidden gem of East London unpretentious style. Lovely brunch in the light filled room with wonderfully genuine service. Delicious food and wine in the ambience of live piano and totally surprised by the value of the bill. Will definitely be back. Thanks guys!
Bit noisy live pianist and overall diners talking over each other.
Breakfast average and on the cold side. Odd Baked Beans. Coffee and waiter (beardy guy) v good.
Went for Saturday Brunch at Bistrotheque - had a very lively atmosphere, food was prompt and service great, very happy waitress who served us was very good indeed. Food was very tasty and met our expectations. The piano playing was nice, although some may find it a little obtrusive if they want to have a talk as it can be very loud sitting near to it.
Food is very good but the service is not at the expected level. The waiter was rushing us to finish and wasn’t really nice with us
Not a very good experience this time, very surprised. My roasted leek gratin was cold, not sure if it was meant to be (would have been better hot), another meal was lukewarm and the cod fillet was completely uncooked and stone cold raw in the middle even after returning the chef. Very disappointing. We were given the a reduced bill and the option to return for a free meal but I now would be wary of booking again. Is there new inexperience chef? Was the oven not working properly? Can’t think of a reason for the very unusual poor quality.
The service was incredibly slow on our visit - sat down at 19:30 and didn’t receive a main course until after 9pm. The food itself was nice, but there was no ambience to speak of - no music or background sound.
Brilliant! Not an obvious entrance but just follow the sounds of chatter and piano notes
The food was exceptional, and the piano music in the background really is a lovely touch.
Lovely place- this was our second time there. Food was amazing, staff were super attentive and the pianist in the background was a nice touch!
Great places and really good food, we had a good time in Bistrotheque. The service is also really attentive.
A fantastic, laid-back and yet vibrant setting with live piano and great food. Every member of staff was polite, friendly and would go above and beyond.
Always love it here, really nice environment and I love the guy playing piano. Especially when he did Boys Don’t Cry. Always have the bistroteque breakfast- total winner- bacon is really crispy and the layered potatoes are great.
Perfect service combined with great food. Amazing ambience too. Just go for it.
Fantastic meal! The set menu for £25 was fab. Food definitely made with love.
Food and venue were great, though the piano player seemed at odds with the atmosphere/vibe of the place.
Wonderful restaurant - cannot fault it
Always love going to bistrotheque, the restaurant has a nice feel to it, staff very kind and caring (remembers dietary requirements), food was brilliant and entire party enjoyed it
It was outstanding in every respect as ever. The service was swift, attentive but not overbearing, and very accommodating. The food was superb, from portion size to preparation to waiting time.
Way too warm. Food was too slow (more than an hour)
Served us a rancid panacotta! Otherwise food variable but good decor and space
Some staff friendly but others not very personable
The service was suboptimal and the quality of the dishes served did not match up to our expectations (or the high price point!)
Great staff and service. Fish and chips 🍟 were awesome. Oysters were excellent 👍
2nd visit and just as good as first one, so will no doubt be back again
Great brunch menu and cocktails. Buzzy yet relaxed vibe but bit noisy.. acoustics of a converted warehouse! Couldn't really have a conversation without shouting! Was VERY hot sat next to kitchen.. Air-con not working. Staff very polite and helpful. Would recommend..
Perfect as always 💪
fantastic food, not mega cheap but really worth it for a special occasion.
Service was good, atmosphere nice though not buzzing (lot of empty tables even though it was Friday night). Starters were great, main was hugely disappointing for what we were expecting to be a great dining experience - over cooked, bland chicken and bland fish and chips. Would not go again or recommend
Lovely waitress attended us and the casual option we went for (beef burger) was delicious. However the starter and dessert although good didn't live up to the foodie standards the restaurant seems to be striving for. A little more authenticity, a little less pretentiousness and a little better value for money would boost the profile in my view.
