The name Bistrot Zinc is derived from typical French bistrots where the “zinc” bar is a popular meeting place for good food, conversation and camaraderie. Happy to rely on Bistro Zinc as one of our go-to neighborhood spots. Service is always spot on and the food wonderful. Can never go wrong with their quiche or french onion soup.

Fantastic as always! You can't go wrong here. They keep the food and service top-notch. Grand Mere chicken is the best in the city. Don't waste time at Bistro Campaigne where they don't take rezzies.

The evening was wonderful. The restaurant beat out our expectations. The food was delicious and our server was knowledgeable and very charming. We wondered why we had not been there before and will most certainly be back.

Soup of the day this evening was potato. It was simple and enjoyable. House salad of bib lettuce was fresh yet the dressing was a bit too mild. Shared the classic steak and pomme frit. Enough to share if you don’t have a big appetite. Wanted space for the chocolate cake. We shared the dessert and it was full of flavor if a little dry. The wine for the evening was very nice at $43. It was a regional red blend, listed just below the same priced Pinot. Service was not rushed and we enjoyed the restaurant and our knowledgeable server Nathan.

Cauliflower was very different but I liked it. Onion soup was reliably great. Short ribs were a bit overdone on the outside but nice on the inside. Profiteroles tasty as always. Attentive waitor.

Perfect atmosphere for quiet, unhurried conversation over delicious, unpretentious bistro food with an excellent glass of wine or beer. Servers are attentive but do not hover, and they will entertain special requests to suit dietary needs.

Fabulous meal! Between the 3 of us, we had steak frites, grilled salmon, and Mediterranean Tagine. The almond butter cake was delicious and presented beautifully with fresh fruit and whipped cream on the side. Our waiter, Dave, was very attentive and knowledgeable about every item on the menu. We will definitely be back. Highly, highly recommend!!

We tried this bistro for restaurant week and really loved it. I was excited to see steak frites on the restaurant week menu and had to have it! It was amazing. My friend had pork cheeks that I didn’t think I’d like, but they tasted wonderful. The almond cake and chocolate mousse were fantastic. We had a good server who let us take our time and explained the menu well. We were also happy with pricing on the wine list.

Had great hopes, but perhaps visiting during restaurant week was a huge mistake. Steak was before average, plus was seated 30 minutes past reservation time.

Bistrot Zinc has been the "go-to" place for French comfort food since 1996. The decor and ambiance are pure French bistrot style, with waiters dressed in white shirts and ties, signs written in French and music made for a cabaret. Our party of four dined here during Chicago restaurant week. For $33 per person, we each selected a starter, main course and dessert, including a tender steak/frites and fine vegetable terrine dinner.s Our waiter recommended a nice Cote du Rhone to accompany the dinners. We will go back yet again.
