It was their final night before closing so we wanted to be there as we've enjoyed the restaurant over the years. I thought the place would be jammed in light of it being the swan song but, unfortunately, it wasn't.
The staff seemed to just want the whole thing to be over with. It will be missed.
We have been there many times after going to Bard on The Beach. A perfect ending to a nice performance. We drive up from the states.
The food was delicious and we enjoyed our meal. I would certainly go there again. But the problem is, it is closing permanently on this coming Sunday......
Food was great but portion was small. Atmosphere on the vibrant side than romantic. Service could be friendlier from the staff, otherwise, owner was very welcoming.

Delicious, fresh food. Price fixe menu was excellent value and larger portions than expected. The salmon, mussels and scallop/shrimp risotto dishes were all hits at our table. The classic onion soup was also fabulous!

We opted for the special which included a soup/salad, main course and dessert. It was an excellent choice. My partner had the pate and I had the tomato and red pepper soup to start... both were delicious. Our main courses were Beef Bourguignon and a Prawn Scallop with Pea Risotto. The beef was so tender and my scallops and prawns were just right! I find some restaurants can over cook prawns but these weren’t. Dessert was chocolate mousse and mint infused Creme Brûlée, both were a lovely way to end the meal. Highly recommend Bistro Pastis!
Excellent fine dining food and service. Duck was best I’ve had it. Even from being in a France.

We go to Bistro Pastis every year for our wedding anniversary. However, we will not be going again.
This year my wife was very sick after the meal. We had not eaten much during the day, so we were sure it was caused by the food at Pastis. We contacted the restaurant and the manager spoke to us the following day. He was sympathetic but refused to take any responsibility for my wife's illness.
Sorry Pastis we will have to find another restaurant.
Delicious food! Absolutely no complaints about that. Tables were a little close together but oh well! Definitely would recommend!

Pastis is our regular lunch venue. Corkage fee is reasonable so we always bring a vintage red. Witg Summer gere a table by the open window is very pleasant. Service is great
We had the menu prix and each course was amazing - both visually and taste. We started with the campagne pate with salad and pickled onions, then onto the most beautiful dish of scallops with butternut squash puree and risotto and then a fun and delicious chocolate dish. The servers were attentive and incredibly efficient. We will be back next time we go to the Arts Club theatre.
Overall very pleasant experience and have returned many times for dinner.
Only interesting thing is my reservation thru Open Table never made it to the restaurant. But they were able to accommodate our large party.

We went for a Saturday lunch and really enjoyed the service from our waitress, the food, of course, and the ambiance. We had just returned from France and our lunch happily prolonged our vacation a little while longer. We will return soon.

The food and service were very good. We had difficulty booking a reservation through Open Table. There was very little availability. We settled on 5:45 p.m. which was far earlier than we wanted. To our surprise we had the restaurant to ourselves and were told the other reservation was coming in @ 6:30 p.m. Hard to imagine why the restaurant would hold back the reservations. As good as it was we would not do this again. Hopefully the system will be changed so reservations could be booked at the desired time especially when this meant the restaurant was empty.

Usually like this restaurant. Perhaps just a bad menu choice. Omelette was just a little bland. Capers were the only thing that saved it. A little runny also. I've had many French classics here & they're usually good. Last time I had the Duck confit and the duck was very stringy. Mussels are usually good & I've had salmon benedict for brunch & it was excellent. Different chefs at the helm perhaps?
Came here for dinner with out-of-town visitors. I think this restaurant is overrated. The food was only so so . Our fish and mussels were over cooked.
Our waiter had an attitude and was not friendly at all. We were seated at a table by the entrance. When we asked for another table he put us next to the kitchen so we decided to stay put. The restaurant was not full so he could have given us another table. The other waitress who took our order was a lot more friendly, but we still don’t think we will eat here again.
Drink and food are expensive. $40 for 6oz tenderloin steak with some fries, $40 for 5 scallops. Glass of wine for $12-$14. Not worth the money. Won’t come back again.
Everything was perfect. And the server definitely blew the snooty French waiter stereotype out of the water. Aces.

This was our second visit for Sunday brunch, and we were not disappointed. Thanks to Stefen and his staff for providing a comfortable and relaxing dining experience with an excellent and varied menu.

Very nice dinner at Bistro Pastis. Hadn't been there for a few years. Food was very good to excellent - Everyone was really delighted with their meals - I had liver, which some may say is a strange choice but it was very good, scallops were delicious, and steak and frites were really good. Remember it comes a little rarer than you might expect. Mussel appetizer was perhaps the best I have ever. The frisee and endive salads were thoroughly enjoyed. Only negative I thought was why not throw some vegetables on the steak frites - you are charging $42!
The Dover sole was spectacular as always. The steak Tatar was very disappointing and was the main reason I came to this restaurant. Either the chef or the owner changed but may not come back

We were lucky and caught Bistro Pastis on a quiet night as it can usually get quite busy. This happened to be a cold, rainy night and made for a perfect date night out. There's a good selection of everything on the menu, so feel that most everyone could find something to their tastes. The restaurant is clean, cozy and feels like a fine French restaurant. Easy enough to find (Arbutus and West 4th Ave) and parking is available on the street. We both ordered the Bouillabaisse as we were craving seafood, Ample portion but would have liked to seen more seafood in this dish. Price is commensurate with Vancouver restaurant prices, so no real bargain but still worth the visit. All in all a great place to take a date or anniversary dinner with your special someone.
We have been going to Pastis for primarily lunch for a long time. It is good to see that they have upgraded the lunch menu. The Fraser Valley lamb shank is excellent. Falls off the bone. We always bring our our own bottle of red as Pastis corkage charge is quite reasonable compared to its peers.
Totally enjoyed the French Onion Soup! The service was excellent. This a comfortable restaurant to eat and enjoy with friends and loved ones.
