Fantastic setting...romance or business. Food is exquisite.
The restaurant was superb as expected. This is our “go to” place in Northern VA when we want great food, greater service and a super experience. Never tire of the menu; this time wife had the Chicken Napoleon (enough to feed his whole army) and I had veal though I planned on having a fish entrée. We’d started with a shared calamari appetizer with roasted pineapple then wife had the cream of broccoli soup and I had my usual- the Caesar salad with white anchovies. We always trust the staff for our wine choices and they never disappoint and didn’t this time either.
My score is due to the quality of the Meat for some reason unknown to me the quality is not the same as the previous experience. Thanks You
Always an outstanding choice.
This is our go to for a great dinner south of DC. This is the first time in 4 years I didn’t love the food. I felt like everything was under or over cooked. But, we always have a fantastic time. The service is always great. Staff is friendly and helpful. Will still be going back.
Fabulous as usual! Service was excellent and food was delicious!
Invited a professional colleague and her husband to dinner at a class restaurant. Couple drove for 2 and 1/2 hours from their home to get to the Bistro and us for dinner. It was critical for us to make a good impression and make their travel worthwhile.
Success! Staff and our favorite waiters knew this arrangement was important to us and didn't let us down!! Gave us the usual special treatment we've come to expect from the Bistro, and made the evening a resounding success. Well done, and we appreciate it!
Absolutely the best meal I have had in a very long time. Everything was prepared excellently and served immediately. For our starters:
I decided on the pan seared scallops with caramelized brussel sprouts, my husband ordered the purse shaped pasta filled with pear and cheese, with garlic cream sauce. The scallops were still sizzling, they were creamy and tender inside, crispy outside, coupled with the brussels sprouts and that glaze! The pasta purses were tender, yet toothsome, the perfect al dente. Smooth creamy filling, slighty sweet, and just enough. The creamy sauce was a glorious addition.
I selected the Wild caught Salmon with Pan seared shrimp and crab burre blanc sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and nestled on a bed of spinach. My husband selected the rack of lamb, cooked medium rare, served with baby spinach, squash/eggplant medley, and tomatoes, liberally drizzled with wine sauce. My Salmon was a dream, crusty skin side, creamy, melty inside, and steaming as I cut into it! The shrimp were just done, nicely seasoned, and juicy as I took a bite. The crab meat was a generous large portion of jumbo lump crab, the delicate flavor of the crab was enhanced with the sauce. The mashed potatoes were buttery and fluffy. My husbands lamb had a nice sear on the outside and was juicy, pink, flavorful and delicious on the inside. The squash medley included yellow summer, zucchini and baby eggplant slices, displayed on the plate with the tomato slices. For dessert: I chose the bread pudding topped with creme anglaise served with vanilla ice cream. My husband chose the almond tart with creme anglaise served with vanilla ice cream. The bread pudding was full of nuts, raisins, coconut, craisins and, I think, pineapple! Warm, tender, moist. So yummy. My husbands almond tart was warm and not overly sweet. Very tender, flaky crust and golden, cakey interior, very almond forward, and buttery.
Our waiter was outstanding. The atmosphere was inviting.
Every visit to this restaurant has been a joy. Be sure to try any specials they might offer. Their cream of broccoli soup was a delight.
We enjoyed our 31st anniversary date/dinner at PW County's best restaurant, Bistro L'Hermitage. It was a fantastic evening. My wife enjoyed fresh Tomato soup, Coquilles St. Jacques, Cappuccino and Creme Bruise as dessert. I had silky Lobster Bisque, Hanger Steak with Crab/Shrimp cake Potato Puree and Baby Spinach, coffee and Crepes du Jour (stuffed with fresh fruit). They knew it was our anniversary and added a complimentary Chocolate Mousse. The food was absolutely excellent. We felt welcomed and honored from the moment we walked in the door to each visit from the exceptionally attentive staff during out dinner.
We will be back many times to this amazing gem in Occoquan VA.
We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this wonderful and elegant dining experience.
Our experience at Bistro L’Hermitage was one of those that you talk about for years. The building itself is quaint and very much in line with what we’d expect from a restaurant in France. The music was low and subdued but appropriate for the setting. The wait staff were professional, courteous, and worked together as a team. The food was absolutely outstanding from the appetizers/soup through to the main course and dessert. The portions were large and everything was cooked to perfection. We left very full but absolutely satisfied! I look forward to eating at Bistro L’Hermitage again and will definitely recommend them.
Superb service, well worth the cost
Everything was excellent, as is always the case at this fine restaurant!!
All I can say is best food and service ever! The food was awsome, the place and environment very romantic. Highly revommended
Never anything but spectacular meals at Bistro L'Hermitage.
We had an amazing dinner for our 36th anniversary. The rack of Lamb was excellent and the Halibut and Lobster special was equally as good. We love going to the Bistro and feeling pampered!
This is my first time going to brunch at Bistro L'Hermitage. Like dinner, brunch was absolutely delightful. The food is amazing, the wait staff is superb and very knowledgeable, the ambiance is perfect. We felt transported to the French countryside.
Great restaurant! Wonderful staff and food. Definitely will eat there again but will not use Open Table. Our reservation was NOT on their list when we arrived.
As usual food and service was SUPERBE. We highly recommend "THE BISTRO L'HERMITAGE", for any occasion.
As always eating here is a delightful experience. Food is great, served in a timely manner, and the wait staff are extremely courteous. The value for the dinners are excellent.
Another very good meal with Dennis, who is outstanding, as our server.
I have been going to Bistro L'Hermitage for many years. The food, the service, and the ambiance are always superb.
My daughter was here visiting last weekend, and I took her to dinner at Bistro. We both agreed that our dinners were the absolute best we'd ever had, anywhere. My moules gratinées, chef's seafood entrée special, and the peach cobbler were just exceptional.
Many return visits yet to come!
Great, as always. They treat you like family with fine dining and warm, personable but always professional service. Why drive into DC when you have even better here?
A wonderful anniversary dinner!! There’s no place like Bistro L’Hermitage for us. With excellent service
from welcoming greetings to a dessert on the house, we dined in style celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary. This was personally an emotional event for us because my husband nearly lost his life on July 8 during the emergency flash flood that struck our area. He was barely rescued out of his car by a rescue team before his car was totally submerged in water. So, forever grateful to the entire staff of Bistro L’Hermitage for providing the very best service and food for our celebration without even knowing what we’ve been through. We are more grateful than you’ll ever know.

Outside of the bistros of the 4th Arrondisement in Paris you can find no better Bistro.
We have become accustomed to the outstanding ambiance, food, and service at the Bistro. On this special occasion, it again did not disappoint. For my money, it's the best restaurant in Northern Virginia!
great food, great service, a bit pricey but well worth it. Takes me back to France.
A really amazing place: great food; great service! Great Pricing!! My only meager comment would be that the place needs a more powerful air conditioning unit. The restaurant gets very warm because its ALWAYS packed/ crowded with delighted customers! I love this place and cant recommend it enough.
Overpriced and overrated. I had the trout filet in beurre blanc sauce, the sauce was extremely salty and overpowered the fish. My daughter had the red snapper, the zaffron sauce was nothing to write home about. My wife left half of her chicken napoleon, which was too greasy. Lava cake wasn't molted inside (barely warm). We did like the escargot and foie gras. Service was great!
Exceptional food and service, as always. I am never disappointed here.
We will be back, everything was so wonderful felt like a mini escape. For the most part you feel like you are treated like VIP. The only thing less than perfect was the hostess who had no personality, didnt give a warm greeting, starred at the computer screen when we said we had a reservation, and was flippant. she just needs more friendly training. Anyways, our main server was FABULOUS, treated us like Royalty, the drinks and the food was great and the ambience lovely. The server was very polished!
Always have a pleasant experience when we visit this restaurant.
Wanted to try this place for valentines dinner but couldn’t get a reservation. Finally tried it and WOW nice 5 Star secret in Woodbridge. Tried a fish just as good as Sea Bass and it was tasty. Waiting on my call for Sea Bass so I can return.
From the outside, it doesn't look like much. However, the food was excellent (though not cheap), and the service was also very good. I recommend the Chef's 5-course meal...the three deserts included are especially delicious.
Our cousins from San Francisco were visiting & we took them to Bistro L'Hermitage for dinner. Sorry that Carlos was not working that night! But we were well served with Kir Royales for my husband's 72nd. birthday. The menu was not as great as the Brunch menu so many of the dishes we'd raved about to our cousins were not available. The birthday dessert with a candle was a nice touch except that Barry is a chocoholic. So we ordered more desserts. We will return on a Sunday afternoon!
Outstanding service and meal within a very warm and friendly atmosphere. Look forward to eating there again.
Everything from the atmosphere to the excellent food and impeccable service was top notch. This was not a surprise, as we’ve experienced the same on every other occasion.
Great atmosphere! Amazing food! Great service!
This was my first visit and it was simply fabulous. Everything from the check in to being sat at a perfect table in the corner, to the very knowledgeable and friendly waiter Lou, to of course the food!!! We ordered the Soup d'jour "mushroom" which was very rich (so share) and perfectly seasoned. Had the crispy oysters, and the veal cheeks and scallops, all were perfectly cooked and delicious!!! We were too full for dessert but the waiter was so sweet and brought us a mini chocolate mousse - again perfection. The restaurant is decorated as you would expect a cute French Bistro would be and very comfortable seating arrangements. We will be coming back!!!
