I am French, living in Jax for 8 years and Bistro Aix used to be my favorite "French" restaurant. Went back last week was a bit disappointed, no more good bread and butter served before the meal, serving now pizzas, we can find pizzas everywhere, just a tendency to be more Italian than French.. I have nothing against the Italian cuisine, but there are so many in Jacksonville.
By the way, a small detail on your menu, if you still wish to keep a little bit of French
Soupe (takes an "e" at the end)
"di" is not French
should be SOUPE DU JOUR !!!
Or in italian
Zuppa del giorno !!
Also don't like your new exterior sign (but it concerns only me !)
We visited Bistro Aix again last week. the food, service and experience was wonderful as always. living at the beach we dont get into town often enough. the scallops were fantastic. Due to the pandemic it was a slower than usual night for the staff. Every member of the staff was following the CDC guidelines. I encourage all to visit and have lunch or dinner. Bistro Aix and all other restaurants need our support more now than ever.
Food and service were outstanding....
Food was delicious and our server Annelle was very nice! Definitely recommend the chocolate mousse. It got a little dark in the restaurant once the sun set, but the candle on the table made for the perfect date atmosphere. Overall, a great experience.
Our favorite restaurant was closed so we went to Bistro Aixe. We wore our masks and so did all the staff. The service was perfect. You couldn’t ask for any better. The server was attentive, she was very familiar with the menu and explained everything. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly, my husband had scallops and risotto which he said was delicious. The wine by the glass menu included several good choices and we each had two glasses. I would rate this experience a solid ten.
As always, Bistro Aix's drinks and food were great. The bartender had some great drinks mixed up and our food - I had steak fritte, my favorite here! - was outstanding.
Red wine should have been a better temperature... warm.
Otherwise a nice experience
Excellent food, great menu and wonderful service. Will certainly go back.. Highly recommend!!
Very limited menu …. no beef on the menu. Only Family Style available. No where was this presented on the Open Table App!
I took my husband for Father's Day dinner. Although the site referenced family style, I hadn't anticipated that the menu was limited to only that. Would have enjoyed that more if we'd had other family members with us.
Service was excellent, and I appreciated the COVID-19 safety precautions that were in place.
I took my husband here for Father’s Day. I was unaware of their Sunday Family Style dinner feature, but was not disappointed. We learned about new ownership so the menu now has more Italian than French influence. Overall, exceptional food, drinks and service. We will definitely go back!
The greeter was extra polite when we wanted a mixed drink but there was no bartender. She said we could ask our server since it was only a martini. Our server was so doubtful of himself to attempt it, but we gave him instructions and he did a great job! It was a 50th Birthday lunch and them going the extra mile for the special occasion was so appreciated.
Despite the new limited menu, each dish was amazing. Would order again but look forward to their regular menu.
Been dining at your restaurant for years. Overall very sub par for Aix standards. Service was poor and food was average. Ordered escargot and only took 5 mins. Pretty sure that would take quite a bit longer to bake. Had to ask for beverages multiple times
Great food every time. For our budget it could not be a weekly dining out, but great for once a month. We are never disappointed with the taste, portion, and visual of the food.
Great experience! We came to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and we were grateful for our selection of this restaurant for our special dinner.
The restaurant was operating at 50% capacity and our wait staff was still quite inattentive. Additionally, the food taste was very good, but we found a piece of metal cleaning equipment in our food. The management took care of the cost of the entrees, but it was still disconcerting.
The quality of the overall experience has declined over the years and the last several times we’ve visited have not met our expectations.
Excellent food and service as always we will be back!!!
This is an extremely solid choice for Jax fine dining. Top 5 best in H JJ ax no doubt about it.
This place was INCREDIBLE. A must in Jax. So fabulous
When they have a limited menu, and then run out of everything your wife likes it is not a great evening
We were the first diners at noon and one of the listed items on the very limited menu we wanted was not available. Food was average and service slow. This previously was a 5 star favorite
Great atmosphere. Everyone devoured the Calamari - unfortunately they were
out of the mussels
Very nice ambience. Went there a couple of weeks after Corona virus gradual reopening of Florida. Felt very safe. Tables distanced, masks, sanitizer aavailable.
Great server. Very attentive. Food good but not great, but would give a pass on this as they were short staffed and just getting their land legs back after shutdown. It was our first dinner there but we will be back!
Nice restaurant. Pretty good service but I have to admit I was annoyed I had to ask for bread while other tables seemed to be eating theirs happily.
Food was nice... French onion soup was on point! we had the steak frites, which my husband seemed to enjoy. They accommodated my burger craving , even though it’s usually not served for dinner, which i was appreciative of! Great flavor. The creme brûlée was delicious ... cappuccino was more like a latte... super milky... no foam. Disappointing but not that big of a deal considering everything else was pretty tasty. Overall good experience.
50th anniversary ...
Our waiter Brandon was just about the worst server ever. Couldn’t remember to bring bread. Forgot to go retrieve a steak that was under done. He seemed stoned.
Five old friends met for lunch Tuesday and were totally pleased with everything.
Service and food were outstanding. Value exceptionally outstanding. It's a bit of a drive from Amelia Island, but we will return.
Very nice establishment with great atmosphere. Staff was courteous and attentive. My entre’ was served luke warm, not hot which was a little disappointing
This was our 2nd time and both times my steak was way over cooked while my table mates were perfect, like amazing perfect red center. So it's a crap shoot on the meat but the drinks are good. Except the first 2 wines we ordered, by the bottle of course, they were out of.
The waitress was very busy but managed to serve our table with grace and humor. The food was excellent as always. We moved to Jacksonville a few years ago and accidentally found the place.
After having tried other pricier restaurants which are ok we still ALWAYS return when we want a first class diner that is as memorable as delicious.
The service was very slow and the food was way overcooked. Very disappointed.
This restaurant is one of our favorites to frequent. You can never go wrong here! Great food that always comes with top notch service.
Overall the experience was very good, I still long for their onion soup from our 1st visit a few years back, it truly was the best I have ever had! I had the Filet and it was excellent my wife had the scallops and they were superbe as well!
We planned dinner prior to attending a concert featuring the Little River Band. Great meal!
Stopped in after wedding dress shopping down the street.
Service was a bit slow to start due to a party of ten beside us.
Beet salad had very few beets, dinner was just ok, and for the prices, it should have been far better. Very few tables filled when we were there, and had to wait a really long time to pay check to leave for a show. Will not return.
My wife and I are French and have been to this restaurant many times and have enjoyed it, as it is representing a very important food destination in our country, AIX Provence. Our last visit however was a bit disappointing as it appears that they have stopped serving bread before the meal. A true French bistro would never leave out bread (even as an elective) before the meal. This may seem simple to many but definitely was a disappointment on this visit. The dinner was very good as usual however.
Bistro X was an amazing dining experience from start to finish—from the personable waiter and manager greeting us and talking to us, to the instagramable food and delicious wine. We loved our time at Bistro X, it was worlds better than the last time we came here back in 2019. 2020 has shown some great improvements to the food and dessert and ambiance, and we will be back!
the special was a steak unfortunately it was just warm and not hot.
