Parmesan Rissotto, Asparagus, Mushrooms, Red WIne Reduction
Smoked Pepper Aioli, Sweet Soy, Flash-Fried Vegetables
Charcuterie board looked like they compiled it from Walmart, server took half an hour to get an itemized receipt. Steak au poiver was over cooked. Overall subpar for Jacksonville
The house cab paired well with the red meats.
The butternut squash soup was very creamy wherein i did not taste as much butter squash, more cream and butter. Their pistachio topping has a shell so it was quite unpleasant biting into that.
They ran out of muscles so we settled with clam. It was okay but nothing out of the ordinary
Their menu stated “herb crusted rack of lamb” but instead I got a charred over cooked, not medium rare that o asked for. It was over priced and not worth it.
Their braised beef was tasty. Needed a bit more salt however everyone’s salt level is different. This was by the far the best dish.
Their chocolate moose cake was delicious. Their crème brûlée was eggy.
Other than that, service was good. I liked our waiter. I do not think I’ll be returning seeing that it’s a French restaurant but lacking the finesse of one.
Maybe I’m too harsh comparing this to other French restaurants in Vegas and Raleigh, however I was not impressed
Haven't been to Bistro Aix in a few years. Not sure if they are struggling post-Covid but there was a definite drop in quality of food and service since my last visit. We had to wait an hour for the food. My son ordered Cioppino and had to spit out the clams. We wanted an extra spoon but the waiter walked right past me three times while I was trying to get his attention. House wine was listed as $22 in the menu but we were billed $28 because the waiter said the menu is "out of date." LOL. I know times are difficult but I expect better for $60 per person.
Delicious lamb Rich chocolate mousse desert. Delicious
Food was very good - larger portions than expected. Excellent Caesar salad with slices of Parmesan rather than shredded
Great Service and recommendations
Like this place but they are experiencing service issues like everywhere else. Service was very slow.
Food was great but disappointed with the prices my glass of wine was $15
Disappointing trip to Bistro Aix, with the exception of the pre-meal drinks in the bar. We’ve been here before but it has been a few years and don’t think we’ll be coming back. The food quality doesn’t match the prices on the menu. I ordered the wahoo special and it was tremendously over-salted and tough. For an expensive piece of fish, I expect much better from the preparation. My wife had scallops and risotto. The risotto was so bland she called it the worst she’s had. To top it off, when we got the bill we were charged $95 for the bottle of wine that was listed for $80 on the menu. Sad to say, Bistro Aix was a big disappointment for a lot of money.
Very nice lighting and ambience. My steak frites was almost excellent but the beef lacked much flavor. My husband's beef short rib was tender, but also lacked much flavor and the vegetables (carrots) weren't cooked long enough. The server was polite, but not very attentive, especially considering the slower crowd. It was a little underwhelming but I'd probably go back for drinks/starts.
It was my birthday and my first visit. It definitely won’t be my last.
The leg of lamb was delicious!!
Nice cozy atmosphere. Great place to take a date. Food was delicious! It was a little difficult to hold a conversation because of the noise level in the restaurant but I would still recommend checking this place out.
Ordered drinks when we first sat down, then we were told the bar was backed up so we went ahead and ordered appetizers which we received before we ever got our drinks. Staff wasn’t apologetic and didn’t seem to care… I was hoping my experience would be different than other reviews here but we won’t be returning anytime soon
I brought a Lanah time guest to Bistro Aix with me because the food and service are predictably wonderful and it was. We were unfortunately seated next to the restrooms and beside a large table of women who were having a great but very loud good time. Though the ambience was less than desirable, I will continue to be a loyal patron of Bistro Aix.
Best meal out we've had in awhile in the area. All staff was friendly and helpful. Recommended food and wine was excellent. Short rib was fork tender and delicious. Onion soup was one of the best I've had anywhere. Lemon tart and flourless chocolate tart where both sublime. We will absolutely be back.
Bistro Aix has improved their physical space. Unfortunately, the food quality has gone down.
Had coq au vin and mushroom rigatoni with a Caesar salad. All was excellent. Been there before and still love it. We were going to the theater after and server was helpful to be sure we were ready to leave in plenty of time.
We made reservations and were sat at the first table by the door and felt the cold air every time the door opened. Our table cloth was dirty, the table was wobbly, and our service was rushed, and even though we said we were going to split a salad, it was brought as a whole and we weren’t given any plates to split (although I know they split it for you). I tried flagging down the server (which made eye contact with me) but she never came over to see what I needed (which was just an extra plate). Our first drink choice off the menu we were strongly told that it’s not available anymore.
I’ve been several times before, and I will return, but based solely on the food (that was delicious!) and not the service we received.
Pot de Creme was a poor chocolate mousse hardly any flavor. Menu was shrunk, shortrib was very dry, crabcakes tasted like crockets from Ibor, bring on the hot sauce. Overall food was pedestrian at best. 10 years ago, the chef was a good chef.
We have a family tradition of coming here on New Year's Eve and this year, as always, was amazing! Thank you Bistro Aix for another great year!
New Years Evev
We made a late reservation at our arrival in Jacksonvile and we were surprised about two things: the availability of seats available (haters this doesn't mean that the quality is low), and the number of French inspired venues.
We chose Bistrot d'Aix also because of its closeness to the hotel.
Despite of the slightly aged design, the cuisine couldn't be more modern. Starting to the size of portions, to the plating to the quality of cooking.
I chose the New Zealand lambchops and my wife the snapper and both of us were absolutely amazed.
If I have to find something "negative", I would say that the fish was just a tad overcooked, but this did not tamper with the flavor and the satisfaction.
Positive comment about the staff too. Kudos to our server Robert who guided us through the menu, helping Al's with the right pairing of wines.
Food was excellent! Service was somewhat lacking, but i would imagine the restaurant is having staffing difficulties like the rest of the world these days!’
Horrible service. Waitress wearing masks on their chins. Why bother!
Always a good meal, best steak in town. Service was on the p
Always a delight to eat there. Food and service was perfect.
Such a yummy dinner, great service, overall a wonderful experience!
Food was very good. Service was a bit slow, I think due to staffing shortages from Covid.
It took about 10 minutes after we arrived for someone to come to our table to greet us. Then My meal took 3-5 minutes to come out after the meals of my two guests arrived at the table. It was awkward and out of courtesy, they didn’t want to start their meals until mine arrived. That was after It took forever for the initial meals to arrive. My scallops were over priced for what I got. Haven’t been to the restaurant in several years. It will probably be several years before I consider going back.
Great ambiance, great parking and friendly, professional staff. For the most part we had a good experience. The chocolate mousses and cocktails were delish! There are just a few tweaks that could enhance the experience. I’d work on timing cocktails to come out a little faster as well as the first courses. Then slow the entrees. We got the salads, immediately followed by the entrees, there was no room. Then the Cioppino delicious as it was showed up with about 8-10 unopened clams/mussels. It should never have left the kitchen. I’d also like to see the ladies room taken care of to ensure the floors were cleaner and there were towels to dry my hands. Maybe it’s a staffing shortage but it didn’t seem like it.
This was much better Service then the last time. Glad to have given them a second chance
Absolutely delicious! Each of us cleaned our plates! Service was good although a little short staffed. Ambiance was fun and energetic… loud but manageable for conversation. We ha Steak Fries, French onion soup, garden salad, crème brûlée, chocolate mouse cake and NY cheesecake and French coffee. Fantastic!!!
What happened to Bistro Aix??? The food was disgusting, cold, undercooked, and tasteless. I used to love this place.
Solid meal. Good food. Only real complaint was the service was taxed. Those working did a good job, I think there may have not been enough of them. Pretty common these days. We will come back.
Joshua was a writer and did a great job the food was excellent and loved the lighting and the chairs. Escargot was delicious. We asked for some extra bread to soak up the wonderful garlic sauce
Fabulous food and cocktails served by a friendly attentive waiter in a beautiful setting!!
Loved the atmosphere, definitely a great date spot. Service was also excellent. I had the Coq au Vin which had a very flavorful sauce, but there wasn’t much chicken on the plate and I kept getting chicken bones and herb stems in my mouth which was kind of a pain.
We were having a pre concert dinner and really appreciated the servers attention to our time constraints. Do not come here if anyone I your party has hearing difficulties. Very noisy. That is my only negative comment.
I’ve been to Bistro Aix many times over many years and it never fails. Excellent for date night, but also for business lunch and family dinner. Food is top notch, and drinks on point. This will always be one of my go to restaurants in Jacksonville!
