Excellent diner and Waitstaff!
Bistro AIX has been in Jax for over 20 yrs. I would say over the past 5 yrs. or so the quality of the food is just not what it used to be. Whether that is due to management changes , chef changes, or unexpected circumstances.
I ordered the fish Aixoise, daily fish special, it happened to be Chilean sea bass with a zucchini crust, butternut squash risotto and a beurre blanc sauce. The fish was mushy and cold, and the zucchini “crust” was not a crust at all. It was layered atop the fish and underneath was a gelatinous substance I can only think was due to the underdone fish. Very disappointed. My husband ordered the cioppino and it was good.
All in all we keep thinking we will try again to see if they up their game. Hoping they go back to seasonal dishes that are executed to perfection. This just hasn’t happened.
A fine dining experience is only as good as the head chef, sous chef and management.
We will not return.
My wife ordered the shrimp tagliatelle as she has 50 times before and the recipe has been changed and it was not anywhere near as good as it previously was. Although the service was good, overall the dinner was disappointing.
I have eaten in some of the best restaurants in the country, and Bistro Aix continues to be my all time favorite!
Always a nice night out. Drinks on point, server was excellent. I had the Aixoise salad, hubby had bouillabaisse type dish. Very good. We’ll be back
It was an amazing experience, I would definitely recommend!
We used to love this place; however, the food is now sub par at best.
A fabulous dinner. Professional staff. Top Top!
This was a great place!!!!! Enjoy this for the first time
We really enjoyed our evening. We hadn't been there in a long time and now am already looking forward to going back!
First time back to Bistro Aix in a while and love the new ambiance that is more open with plenty of social distancing between tables. The food and service was top notch. Thanks!!🤙🤙
One of my favorite spots.
The service was lackluster and very slow for the price. I got the shrimp pasta which was served at room temperature, way overcooked and way overseasoned. So much so that I sent it back. The server basically said ok let me take that for you. A manager did not come to the table and we were not offered anything else. I expected a little more from a fine dining establishment. Very disappointed.
Hostess promptly sat us down, but after 10-12mins, nobody came to take our order. Probably should have just left, because we were the only patrons in the entire restaurant by the time I got up to grab someone.
The escargot was amazing, but the main entree was a special and was overly salty & burnt, and the steamed mussels with chorizo were surprisingly flavorless. In fact the best part of the night was the escargot and the Cotes du Rhone wine. Other than that, I might stop in again to give them another chance because I’m moving to the area, but I wouldn’t recommend anything beyond appetizers and wine, and just go to the bar.
Jesse always impresses!
Wanted to like it, but food was subpar.
Celebrated a birthday at Bistro Aix and loved it! The truffle pizza is amazing!! We also had the tuna appetizer and cocktails. Fantastic food and service. I will be back.
never disappointed in my experience or food quality.
Bistro Aix has upped their professionalism. Dinner was remarkable. Chef did a wonderful job! Table service was really good
Delicious food, impeccable service and quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend dining at Bistro X.
We hadn't been there since before the flood and we were really looking forward to it. As it turns out, we had nothing to worry about. If anything the food was better, the service was better and the ambiance / noise level were much better. I won't say it's cheap, but I will say that its worth it. We'll be going back as soon as we find the time!
We haven’t been to Bistro Aix in years, but finally went on a date night. We had a great experience from the food to the service. We will definitely be putting Bistro Aix back into our date night rotation!!
Went the day before Valentine's Day... no mention of a Valentine's Day menu on their website. Arrived and got a Valentine's Day menu, which not only was very limited and didn't include anything I really wanted, but every item was $2 more than usual. Mussels and Crab cake apps were very good, but the shrimp with pasta main was bland... the tomato cream sauce had zero flavor. Adding to the problem, the server never asked me if I wanted pepper or grated cheese (both which was needed) and there was no salt or pepper on the table due to Covid. Ordered a piece of cake for dessert... a small sliver, although very good, was $12. I spent a lot of money for an unmemorable meal and felt as though I was gouged. I probably would not return.
Wine and app came quickly but dinner took almost 1.5 hours to arrive to the table. We had finished a bottle of wine, realized EVERY table had come and gone around us and the only thing we were told after calling our server over to ask about dinner was, they were sorry and they are working on getting it out to us as soon as they can. Gave us each another glass of wine as compensation, but for spending $230 on dinner that is not good enough. Will not be back.
Valentine’s Day! Good meal! Great service!
First time here and will definitely come back. Unfortunately when we came it was a limited Valentines menu. They didn’t have the regular menu to order from but their Valentine’s menu was pretty good. Got the short ribs which were super tender with the sides. Amazing! Also had the mussels with chorizo. Delicious! Looking forward to coming back to try other choices on their full menu.
Amazing as always!
Great food and excellent service.
We had requested a table or booth and waited 30 minutes and was seated after another patron had arrived with later reservation and given a table and we were sent to a back big table lucky the server allowed us to change to a booth , well it was not a pleasant outcome specially with out of town guest , I have been coming to bistro Aix quite some time always used open table but was very dissatisfied
All Covid precautions were in place and followed. I love the ambiance of this restaurant, can be cozy or fun and very friendly. Staff asked me if we were going to a concert so they could be mindful of the time for us. We both had the wedge salad which was one of the best I’ve ever had! I alway get the wonderful Shrimp Tagliatelle with al dente cooked pasta in a delectable pink sauce. I can never try any of the other tempting dishes because this one is so special. Oh, my Margarita was wonderful!
Very good, start to finish. They’ve done a good job adjusting to the virus, too.
Slow inattentive service. Waiter was MIA most of lunch.
Had a very nice dinner. From the hostess to the server, and bartender, everything was on point.
Service was especially slow. Food was ok. Normally a great venue, truthfully my group was disappointed. Perhaps they were training new personnel, but it was confusing as to who was exactly servicing our table. Our first drinks didn’t even arrive until nearly 30 min after we arrived - and they weren’t busy. In fact, quite the opposite. Let’s put it this way, if I have to apologize to my team for a restaurant experience, it’s not a good thing.
The service, the food, the drinks were all 5 stars. We loved it!
Although it's a French restaurant there was a very small selection of french food and no french deserts...
First time there, won't be back. Service and food were terrible. The drinks from the bar were good. Took a long time to get them.
Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We have frequented Bistro Aix numerous times. The food and ambience bring us back regularly.
