The filet was tender and tasty, sides went good with it. Tuna tater was tasty. Little understaffed, but descent service.
Always great to go back to bistro. Food and service are always fantastic. Our first outing since our daughter was born. Just go, you will not regret it.
Great Valentine’s Day spot!
Valentines’ Day dinner with the wife. Reservation at 6pm, we were seated in a timely manner at the requested booth. Dean (our server) was attentive and professional without being overbearing.
Dinner was excellent for the price! I would have given five stars for the food; however, I do not recommend the Apple Tart Tatin... the apples were cut too thick and the dessert was undercooked. I felt like I was eating a raw apple minus the peel.
Notwithstanding the forgettable dessert, I highly recommend.
Valentines Day. Had a great server Will. Food and service excellent!
First visit in 17 years and wasn’t disappointed at all. (Moved away so that’s why the time gap.)
Our waiter didn’t take time to give specials and I would have liked him to know what wine to pair with every entree on the menu that gives a person like myself the options I am looking for in a 5 star restaurant. All in all great experience.
Excellent french great service food and wine list a bit noisily
For special occasions Bistro Aix is the best! The food was exceptional, our service was excellent. We had an early weekday dinner reservation and by the time we left it was quite noisy but we look forward to a return to this special place.
Always a wonderful dinner and great atmosphere. Will definitely return.
Great food and drinks in a nice locale. Service was good, too.
We went to Bistro Aix for a pre-theater dinner and it was great. The service staff was aware of our time constraints and did a very nice job of accommodating them. The food is excellent and the setting is upscale. While not within walking distance of the theater, it is close by and convenient for other downtown activities. We'll definitely do it again.
Maybe it was just an off night, Sunday, at the Bistro but they were out of certain dishes, there was no special and the music they had playing was unlike anything I have heard before.
When we spoke to waiter he said they tried to keep it casual on Sundays. There were only three tables being served, and we made the comment it was really awful and not enjoyable, Still nothing done about the volume or type of music.
I also would of thought something would of been extended towards making us more satisfied since 2 or the 3 choices to be ordered was not possible as well as no “special”. On a postive side the waiter was very attentive and our food which he finally order was prepared well. (it just wasn’t what we really wanted)
Restaurant was too busy and understaffed. Took 1 hour to get drinks after multiple attempts to request a server. Food was so so and terrible value for the price. One person in our party never got their meal at all. I do think this was an “off” night for them . Management compensated for experience with comping bill which was appreciated
Took 40 minutes to be seated despite arriving within 5min of reservation (due to Bistro Aix overbooking). Service and food was very slow. Food and music was great.
Great food, but service is unbecoming such a nice restaurant
We always have a solid experience at X! The table had scallops, risotto, salmon, and soups and salads. Everyone enjoyed what they had. The service team was fast and friendly with good menu knowledge. This was the first time however I thought the portions could have been more. Imo. We all shared desserts and they were good. We will be back.
Bistro AIX was an amazing atmosphere dinning experience. The staff as a whole were absolutely delightful and the jazz band was an added bonus!
This was our pre-Valentines dinner and it could not have been better. Impeccable service, absolutely delicious food, romantic atmosphere and right near our house. This is always a hit with us and it was a real treat to dine here.
Noisy..took a long time to get food. Tina app was good but the $32 scallops dinner came with three scallops only and they were small scallops. My moms steak was over cooked as well.
Another great meal
An amazing experience for my Dad’s 80th Birthday on a Saturday night. Fantastic service from Eve, the manager and our server, Michaela. In celebration of Dad’s birthday, Eve provided a complimentary cheese board and a blind flight taste test of fine scotch. That level of service is almost unheard of these days and speaks to the high standards of the restaurant. The food was outstanding as always. We had 2 kinds of fresh oysters, tuna tartar, calamari, filet and pork belly. Everything was prepared to perfection. Bistro Aix is a favorite for lunch and for special occasions. Be sure to make dinner reservations on the weekend. The place was packed!
We all enjoyed Bistro Aix. Although a tad bit too noisy at times it is a very vibrant venue. We just happened upon their Happy Hour specials which were an excellent value. All the food we ordered was beautifully presented, of high quality and delicious. I am still dreaming of the Red Velvet Profiteroles!
Our server was attentive, personable and knowledgeable. I can't wait until my next visit....
One of our favorites in Jacksonville, the food is always fantastic. Each course came in a reasonable amount of time and we loved every bite!!
Very good evening meal. We will return when we are back in town.
There are two or three items on the menu that I always select from because I love them and know exactly what to expect but they have added some wonderful new items to the venue that have taken it up a notch! The charcuterie sounds and looks amazing and I will try that next visit. They do need to address the Caesar Salad because it is both bland and at the same time it has a bitter after taste. I am one of several people I know who feel the same way.
Our first martini was very watery but when we said something to the waiter he made sure our second one was better. Food was excellent. We mainly had a variety of appetizers . Some were half off because of HH. Muscles, oysters. Calamari all great. Steak Tartar outstanding.
We have been to Bistro Aix several times in the past, but not for maybe one year. This time we brought four friends who had not tried it.
The food was reasonably good, although both the French Onion soup and the Coq au Vin were a bit strange. The soup was a creamy base instead of broth, which was not bad, but was not really French Onion soup. The chicken was served in some dark sauce that was not a hit with that diner. However, both of those issues are simply things that we would simply not order again in the future. The rest of the food was quite good.
We notified the staff upon seating at 5:45 that we had theater tickets and would need to leave around 7:15. Dinner was completed by a few minutes after seven. We were successfully ignored for about 15 minutes, and then it still took an additional 15 minutes to pay the bill once we could get any of the staff's attention. This would have been more acceptable if the restaurant had not been less than half full.
Overall, not a great first impression for our four friends, and not a great experience for us, either. It was not bad enough that I would cross it off my list altogether, but I certainly won't recommend it to someone else, lest they have have the misfortune to have a similar experience.
Great round table food was great and prices fair. Unfortunately the service was very slow and we had to cancel dessert to get to our play. They knew we needed to leave for the play as did many other diners when we arrived to spend an hour and a half. We placed app and main course together and never got first course until 30 minutes later. Entrees came 25 minutes later. We'd ordered birthday desserts before our mains were served and had to cancel so we could rush to the theater. The food was very delicious. The PEI oysters were spot on, the Coq au Vin perfect. The filets cooked perfectly and the steak fries tender and well prepared as well. The men in our party stayed to settle the bill and were offered complimentary macaroons because of the slower service. Next time we will allow 2.5 hours to dine and enjoy desserts.
We were there prior to concert twice. Elegantly presented tasty food as the name suggests french cuisine. You can find traditional french dishes as well as exquisite innovations like mahi tuna nicoise style which is my favourite. We liked the prompt and attentive service. Our second time was on Friday night and the noise was higher than we remembered from our first time. Nevertheless we do recommend the place and will visit it next time we travel to Jacksonville.
Food was wonderful, but the service still needs some improvement.
Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Food was very good and served with efficiency and professionalism. Salmon and filet were excellent. Hangar steak not as pleasing. But overall a lovely dinner.
Crowded concert night - but we were the only group seated in the very loud bar section in a period of 30 minutes. Everyone who came in when we did was able to be seated in the dining room. My father and I were unable to talk to each other for the entire dinner. I asked to be moved - there were empty seats in the dining area. They refused. Server was very nice though.
Although the restaurant was filled to capacity, the hostesses, the waiter and the kitchen did an absolutely fabulous job of seating us, getting us served with the most excellent food.
Made a reservation, went before going to a show. We got a table and some water, then they seemed to not even notice we were there. Other people who were seated after us ordered drinks and got food and no one had even come to take drink orders. Left after having only three sips of water.
This occasion was a mini-family lunch reunion, the second “family” event that we had at the restaurant. I had requested a quiet table &, notably, we were seated at a round table in the bar (so happy Bistro Aix is reopened from the terrible flood damage). We had shared appetizers & our own main dishes. My husband & I were the only ones to have dessert. Who can pass up profiteroles? Every dish was wonderful as was the service. Bistro Aix does an excellent job accommodating their customers & serving them food that is high quality. Will certainly return.
excellent lunch, found via opentable recommendations.
Sadly many things were not up to the standard of a good or great rating. Service was lacking; server did not come by very often and we would have to wave him down. Same server had tables spread throughout the dining room. Food was over salted; we sent it back. Have NEVER complained of this in any restaurant. The dessert was stale. Profiteroles would not break with a fork. We left them. Chocolate was nothing special. Drinks did not come with the appropriate garnishes. Hope they fix these things!
We asked for a quiet booth, they stuck us in the bar...with a band, not quiet at all. Esgargo was delicious! I usually love their creamy French onion soup, but it was bland. Service was not great, we had to ask for a server after waiting 10 minutes
Always amazing. Would recommend to anyone over and over!
