We were seated right away. The waitress was very accommodating and the atmosphere was nice. A little dark for my aging eyes. The food was fabulous for my friend and myself. She ordered the chicken parm and said it was the best breaded chicken she had ever had. I had the pork chop and it was very moist and cooked to perfection. My husband was a bit disappointed he order his steak medium rare and he felt it was rare. Maybe should have sent it to be cooked a bit more otherwise a very pleasurable experience. We live very close and always forget to go there for a nice night out. Would highly recommend for a nice evening to celebrate anything.
Bistro 9 was a GREAT find! I chose it for it's Gluten Free menu but loved it for the total experience!
Casual dining in an elegant yet unpretentious setting. Excellent food and service.
We have been to this restaurant many times and have always been pleased however tonight that was not the case. I ordered the chicken Milanese and the others in my group had the salmon and the cod special. The chicken was $18 and totally not worth it. My husband said the salmon actually had no flavor what so ever. Not sure we will be rushing back anytime soon.
Every part of the dinner from salad to dessert was presented attractively and tasted delicious.
Our server Becky was outstanding.
We happened to go Bistro 9 on a Wednesday, which is Ladies Night. We not only had a delicious dinner, but paid a discounted price. The service was friendly and the food was excellent.
My friends were in town visiting from Australia and wanted to have a farewell dinner before head back home. I suggested Bistro 9 and I am so glad I did! Our server Mark was very attentive and always had our champagne glasses full! Some of us had entrees and some participated in restaurant week. I had the tuna stack and filet.. The tuna appetizer was so delicious and the filet was cooked perfectly ! I will recommend Bistro to all my friends and family!
My husband ordered medium rare steak and it was well done. I ordered swordfish that smelled fishy.
We have been there several times and have always had a wonderful dining experience.
They have a wonderful menu, but they took my favorite off the menu. In the past they had the best Osso Bucco and I miss it.
Our server was pleasant and attentive but not intrusive. Excellent!
We had lunch (party of 3) during restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. The mussel appetizer and the clams over linguini were especially good. Service was very good considering the large luncheon crowd. Would definitely return.
Enjoyed the cucumber martini. The rabe and sausage pasta was outstanding! It's the closest decent place coming from Voluntown, CT.
Average to good food, but not a place for foodies. Trendy and noisy on Saturday night. We had to wait too long for our food to be served.
We were making plans for a business dinner and someone suggested we try Bistro 9, so we gave it a shot and I am so glad we did! Keep in mind that we drove up from Providence, RI that boast some of the best restaurants in the area but we were looking for something different. The hostess was a very pleasant young lady who seated us upon arrival. Our Waitress was a gem, truly she was delightful, informative, professional and gave us some great advice on the menu. Everything from the oven baked bread served warm with the oil and herbs, the assortment of inviting cocktails, the outstanding menu that is a welcome to just about any pallet was very appealing and looks did not deceive. The bread was delicious, the drinks delectable and the main course mouth watering. I had the Veal Parmesan, and can honestly say it may just have been the best piece of veal I have ever had! I am looking forward to returning soon! Next time, I hope to take advantage of sitting on the patio surrounded by the beautiful view of the golf course! You must give this place a try and I hope you find it to be an unexpected pleasure as well.
always good food at Bistro 9! Loved the cucumber martini- fresh and trendy!
Disappointed. Quality of food and service declined in 2 weeks. Pork was tough and without the ginger coating. Leftover poorly packed.
Appetizer of clams excellent.
Do not know what happened for quality to decline so much- possible new staff or ordering of pork
We had dinner recently and all four of us enjoyed our meals. Two of us had the pork, one bolognese, and one had chicken masala. Booths were comfortable and service was excellent. Prices reasonable.
This was our fist time at Bistro 9 and we were very pleased with the food, ambiance and service. We met our niece and her friend for dinner. We had Chicken Parmesan, Ravioli and Tagliatelle Bolognese for dinners. All were delicious and fresh. The service was very good and attentive.
Good food in a very comfortable atmosphere. This is a neighborhood go to
This was only our 2nd visit to Bistro 9, but we intend to become regulars. The menu offers appealing choices with at least 3 lobster dishes at reasonable prices. The lobster mac & cheese dish was excellent with large chunks of meat in a generous portion of pasta. It was "market price", which is often very expensive, but all of the menu prices are affordable. The wine list has a good range of offerings, so anyone can find a choice to their liking. Their desserts are delicious & generous enough to share. We requested a booth and happily we were given one and our server. Michela, was attentive, efficient and personable. When we complimented her on the meal, the chef & manager came to our table to introduce themselves, which was unexpected. Living in Narragansett, we often have to deal with "summer" service, high prices, and long waits.....so, it was wonderful to make a reservation, pay a good price, receive great service, & enjoy an excellent meal at Bistro 9 !!! We will certainly be returning with friends.
We have dined at Bistro 9 many times and have found the food and service simply outstanding from start to finish with service from our waitperson second to none. Once again, this is the go to restaurant for a great dining experience.
My husband and I were celebrating our 57th wedding anniversary and were looking for a nice place for dinner. My daughter recommended we go to Bistro 9 as she had been there, enjoyed it and knew we would. Certainly met our expectations. Awesome food, great service and atmosphere. We definitely
will return and tell our friends.T
We've really enjoyed Bistro 9 in the past, but haven't been in awhile. Not sure if it's taken a step back or we just caught them on a bad night. My wife's salmon was good, but my ribeye was awful. The steak was thin and looked like something that you'd buy at a supermarket. To make matters worse it was way over cooked (ordered medium rare & it was grey inside) and doused in a syrupy blueberry sauce that was overly sweet and impossible to completely scrape off. The sides were good, but the meal wasn't worth half of what it cost me.
Service was slow and the waitress disappeared after dropping off our food, returning 20 minutes later.
Also, what gives with the bread? We had to ask for it & were limited to 2 rolls.
Unfortunately, our return visit to Bistro 9 was rather disappointing. Our waitress accidentally spilled our friend's cocktail all over her blouse and the table. She apologized and was certainly taken aback by this but never even offered to reimburse her for dry-cleaning the garment. Clearly the manager should have come over to our table as having dining in a soaked blouse was uncomfortable to say the least. My wife had to speak with the manager on our way out and it was clear she was never told about the spill.
I ordered the blackened tuna and requested that it not be served rare so our waitress suggested it be done medium- well and I concurred. It was served, however, rare so clearly the chef never looked carefully at the order slip. I sent it back and did not receive my entree until everyone else was essentially finished with their meals. While it was prepared to my liking and, more importantly, delicious, it was not blackened in the least but rather marinated in a soy based sauce. At that point it was not worth complaining as I was quite hungry. My wife and friend's dinners were wonderful so having to write this middling review is not my preference. Bistro 9 will not likely see us again in the near future.
Great place! Referral from a friend and what a gem, I'll be heading back soon to select other options from their robust menu. Great beer and solid wine choices as well!
Excellent meal and great service. We attended dinner with friends and the server let us get updated before asking us to put our selections in. Food was delicious and we all enjoyed our meal from the pork tenderloin to the ahi tuna. Recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a neighborhood gem.
wonderful experience, great service , great fish entrees
Service was excellent. Food was subpar, probably because of the holiday. Seating was horrible,a folding table in front of the French doors, had to move my seat when somebody tried to leave through those doors, until the management blocked the access.
I brought my mother and girlfriend out for Easter Dinner here and we were expecting a great experience, this was not the case. My father passed away recently and this was our first holiday without him, so I tried to make it special by trying Bistro 9, our first visit. The female server started out fine, but then when I had questions due to my having food allergies, apparently this turned her off and her demeanor changed to being abrupt and having a loss of patience which was clearly evident in her actions and expression. My question was about the Salmon and she explained that is was a mash of veggies covering glaze with the Salmon place atop it all. I objected to having a glaze with butter and chose to order the Salmon plain, grilled and cooked through with side vegetables, Oven roasted Potatoes and Asparagus without oil or butter. Starting with a house salad and a appetizer of Hummus for the table.
The Hummus was fantastic, although thinly sliced veggies where one could not dip them made it difficult to eat, but we made do with the only three rolls they provided. My salad came with cheese after I clearly asked for none. After a long wait our entrees arrived, my Salmon was a hard as an orange brick. It appeared to be pan seared and left under a heat lamp for a hour or more, if I had not known better I would have thought it was placed in the deep fry. It was hard and crusty with the bottom brown/black from the pan, dry as a bone. The potatoes were covered in oil as was the grilled asparagus. The server never came to the table except toward the end and when she glibly asked how it was and I began to answer she ignored me and walked away in mid sentence knowing I was not happy from my expression. My mother and girlfriend had similar feelings about their entrees and stopped eating and opted to get doggie bags in order to feed the meals to my mothers dog. We left feeling unhappy, and dissatisfied and hungry, so we had a second dinner at another local establishment.
We love the cozy, intimate feel of the place. The food is consistently excellent. The grilled clam appetizer was fresh and the striped bass with lobster rissotto was comforting and delicious. We enjoy that the menu always has a seasonal twist.
We decided to try Bistro 9 and we are sure to return very soon. My husband ordered the lobster macaroni & cheese and it was full of wonderful chunks of fresh lobster in a delicious, generous portion. My salmon dish was cooked perfectly and it had a unique, memorable flavor.....sweet, but light. The desserts were not overly sticky sweet, so we really appreciated them. The bread pudding & custard were freshly made & a wonderful ending to a great night. Our bottle of wine was priced reasonably (not inflated) and there was a good selection in all price ranges. Our server, Jeff, was very capable & friendly and seems to enjoy his work & patrons. We could not have asked for a better meal but next time I am ordering the lobster dish because my husband enjoyed the left overs the next day & I was so envious!
We have been here several times. It's just a nice place to unwind overlooking a 9-hole golf course. The dining area is not too big this time of year becsuse the outside hasn't opened for the season yet. The menu has something for everyone and the specials are always creative. This night there was a wedding party in the upper room, but it didn't interfere with the service. Enjoy!
I went here on a Friday night and was happy to get a table for 7:30, reserved about an hour before! The food was excellent- we had calamari appetizer to start. Their bread basket was delicious too- hot Parmesan covered with marinara sauce to dip. I ordered the pork dinner- it was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. My fiancé had the filet- also delicious. Portions were just right- not too big but not too small that you want more. Our only complaint was the service and the noise level. Although our server was very nice and polite, he waited until after we finished our appetizer to take our dinner order. We had to sit around waiting too long. Then it was about 15 minutes after we received our check for him to come back to the table and pick it up! He must have been busy, but we spent a significant amount of time just sitting and waiting. The noise level was very loud as well- sounded like a high school cafeteria. I recommend this restaurant if you like good food but can put up erg slow service and noise.
We loved our first visit.
The only point of critique I can make is the smell.
There was a distinct smell when we walked in that reminded me of a hotel lobby
or a hotel hallway. Smell of cleaner or bleach? It was odd and sort of was a distraction
to the otherwise beautiful interior and ambience.
When I walk into a restaurant, I want earthly, aromatic, inviting smells, not
rank, or industrial smells, it interferes with the experience.
Other than that, I believe the food was very good. Our server was wonderful, great to chat with, calm, friendly, professional, not annoying or overbearing. I loved that he smiled and talked with us.
I forget his name (he also works for the Red Sox) but please let him know he did a great job and we enjoyed his service very much.
I will say the food is a little on the pricey side. However, the flavor was there, so it's hard to complain when you have something yummy on your palette.
Excellent wine choices for what we ate. Dessert was good.
It was the perfect, quiet evening that we needed away from the busyness and noise of parenthood and life. Thank you!
We have been to Bistro 9 a few times and it has been good every time but now the menu had been changed and it was Outstanding. The entire experience was well above average. From the service, to the Food. I ate a Pork dish and it was the best I have ever had. If you have not been in a while or your are visiting for the first time, you will not be disappointed.
Bistro 9 has been our go-to restaurant for the past 3 years or so. Great menu, food was always excellent, servers attentive and in general, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. With the recent change in head chefs, there has been a big change in our dining experience, and not for the better. Our past 2 dining experiences have been a big disappointment and I don't think we will be giving it a 3rd try.
At a dinner in January I had ordered the lobster mac & cheese, it was fairly dry and bland, my husband ordered the fish tacos and said they were good. This past weekend we thought we'd give it another shot, and this time I ordered a medium rare rib eye and my husband ordered a filet. Unfortunately, the rib eye was dry, bland and overcooked and the accompanying asparagus was barely warm when it came to the table. My husband said his filet was ok, definitely not the best he has had at Bistro 9.
To the credit of the bar staff and servers, they were fantastic and we would definitely consider going to Bistro 9 for a drink and maybe an app. Overall, we preferred Chef Aaron Edwards and his menu....just not a fan of the new chef and menu.
Excellent service. I wish I could remember our server's name because she was outstanding. Friendly, accommodating, not intrusive in any way. Truly enjoyed having her serve us. Food and wine were excellent as well. Looking forward to the summer and dining outside.
Great gluten free options. Clam chowder was excellent.
Service was good, manager was very helpful and nice,I was really impressed with her work, talking to the guests, and making drinks, being hostess, everything at the same time, very professional)appetizers were great, main course wasn't that good at all,but generally,it was ok,not sure we will be back, but it's pretty busy place, worth to try,I guess)
Food-excellent. Service-outstanding. Don't order cappuccino. That was only negative.
While the exterior does not do this location justice, the interior makes up for it. A very quaint and well designed layout. The service was excellent as was the food. My wife and I definitely loved the atmosphere and food.
