Normally I'd give this place great marks... but NOT this time. We had a 'horrible' table (even with a reservation). Yes, it was crowded and we were seated promptly, and their was large parties, but being seated in a small alcove behind the bar and in from of the outdoor bar sort of left us out of the mainstream, and getting a waiter was difficult. It might have even been the bar tender who waited on us. Whoever he was, he did disappear for long time. Food is delivered with a non-waiter so getting the food wasn't the problem. One in our party of 4 ordered the Escargot and I ordered the seafood Bisque. The Escargot was cold and my soup was cool on the top but mixing it made it OK. It took a long time to get the waiter to come to our table. Busboy's ignored us flagging them down and finally someone from the bar outside had come in and saw us waving. Said he'd take care of the Escargot. When it arrived it was warm but the re-heating basically burned off the garlic taste and it was very bland... again, trying to find the waiter, but this time he was by the bar. He apologized and it was decided to forget about it as our Entree's were coming out very soon. Food was good and once we were finished it took some time for the waiter to come by to clean the table and ask if we wanted dessert? We said yes and he promptly got us menu's and disappeared. After almost 30 minutes he'd not come back. Eventually waved down another waiter and he was going to take out orders, but we declined as we had been seated so long. He went off, found out waiter who arrived with out bill.

I have eaten here MANY MANY times, so this time I'd call the service an anomaly. Maybe the table was for the bar, I don't know... I do know I'll never accept on of those 4 tables again.

Again, the reason for the poor review is solely the waiter's service.

Our first time at Big Fin. We're in town for a big convention. Party of 6. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was good overall. Our server was friendly and regular checked in to see if we needed anything.

I had Alligator Piccatta; an unusual dish the server said was not very popular. It was well prepared and the sauce provide for a unique and enjoyable taste. Instead of potatoes, I had the crawfish grits, which was outstanding! The calamari was great and the bacon wrapped figs as appetizers were awesome. Highly recommended. It is rated 3 $ for price.

This was second time eating st Big Fins. Stumbled across this restaurant last year while vacationing in the area. Was very disappointed in our overall experience compared to the first time I ate there. Do not know if I would return to this restaurant.

Food was outstanding. Our server was a little pushy as far as making appetizer recommendations, etc. He seemed like he was out to increase the bill more than he was to recommend what was best for us. And several people at the table had this opinion. A little more friendliness/personality would have been appreciated.

In town for conference ad found this place off open table. Delicious food! Highly recommend Red Snapper and lobster Mac n cheese. Sat in Center so a little busy and loud but able to hear some of the live music playing in the lounge. Great for small group dinners or a date but would recommend booth for a little more privacy. Overall great experience!

While the food was absolutely wonderful, the service lacked in so many ways. We felt rushed through our appetizer and meals, literally had the waiter roll his eyes at me and walk away from the table as I was trying to choose a glass of wine and were completely ignored for most of the meal. That might be okay in an inexpensive, casual restaurant, but our bill was $246. for three people (2 of whom had no alcohol) and I would have expected a little more attention, courtesy, and the opportunity to enjoy our meal versus feeling like it was fast food.

My wife and Celebrated our 20th Anniversary with Big Fin we were greeted with a place setting wishing us a happy anniversary. Kevin our server was attentive and prompt. He new the menu and suggestions where great. We had the calamari which was perfect. It was served with jalapenos and a sweet Thai sauce for dipping. For the min course we had the Shrimp and Scallops Orleans enough for a take home which I just finished enjoying for a second time. They also prepared a cheesecake (My wife's favorite) with another wish for a happy anniversary on it. I highly recommend Big Fin for anyone celebrating a special occasion they seek to have go off without a hitch.

My family celebrated our daughter’s 16th birthday at The Big Fin. It was her selection as she wanted either lobster or crab. Well, she had the Alaskan King crab and the legs were the biggest and tastiest I’ve ever experienced. Fabulous! The rest of us had the Ahi Tuna and Grouper which were all fresh and delicious. The service was excellent, and they even had a rose and sign on the table to enhance the celebration. We will return!

We come here every time we’re in Orlando just for the Alaskan King Crab Leg. It’s prepared beautifully, pre-cracked and tastes so sweet. One leg includes a huge amount of meat, enough to feed 2 hungry people!

We had wonderful raw oysters to start, followed by perfectly cooked meals. We had rare tuna steak, crab stuffed flounder and surf & turf. The flounder and surf & turf were specials - fantastic value for good quality food. $3 margaritas were delicious special as well! Highly recommended!

I went to Big Fin because I always try to eat Stone Crab claws when I visit Florida. Big Fin advertised itself online as specializing in fresh Stone Crab claws.

The waitress suggested we order 1 pound of Stone Crab for an appetizer. I was shocked when only one Jumbo claw arrived. We ordered another=not much meat.

The entree, however, was excellent: crab encrusted grouper. My only suggestion is that the fish was a little over cooked. However, I like my fish served medium rare, which is how high end fish focused restaurants in California cook the fish. I am aware most place in the US cook fish well done; it's a pity.

The ooey gooey chocolate dessert was fair. Neither ooey nor gooey. We actually though we got the wrong dish. It was described a part cake part pie. It was actually a fairly dry chocolate cake with a coconut topping garnished with chocolate sauce. We did not finish it- enough said.

Overall, we enjoyed Big Fin. Prices were a little high for a casual place, but what to you expect near Universal Studio.

I go to Big Fin on just about every trip I make to Orlando. Chef James Slattery and his team have never disappointed me or my dining companions. I often get the swordfish steak with "secret sauce" but this time I went for the BBQ salmon, medium rare. My first bite was one of those foodie moments when you close your eyes and offer respect to the food and those who prepared it, followed quickly by the thought " How am I ever going to be able to describe this bliss to someone else?". The salmon was soft, meltingly unctuous, just a touch sweet and utterly delicious. The mashed potato cake that came with it added a nice little crunch with its crumb coating and the cole slaw I asked for instead of the standard green beans was exemplary. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the lobster mac and cheese, which had a totally unexpected and delicious flavor profile. This is the food that keeps me coming back whenever I'm in town! Many thanks to Chef James for taking a few minutes at the table to say hello. It's always good to see him!
