We experienced exceedingly slow service throughout the serving phase. And, I eventually had to take the bill and my credit card to a manager to be closed out.
We took a group of teen girls for my daughter's birthday. The food was excellent. The waiter was fantastic. 10/12 meals came together, than the 11th dragged and the 12th, which should have been the easiest to time with the others because it was the chefs veggie stir fry took forever, which was my husband's the bill payer and slowest eater. To be fair, they comp'd several meals and apologized, but it did mar an otherwise spectacular visit. The steak stir fry in particular looked and tasted amazing.
Entrees and service were very, very good.
At first we definitely felt rushed, but our server picked up on it and thankfully slowed things down.
Only bad note: 2 couples split a sizable dessert. 2 people liked it and the other 2 (including me) thought that it was AWFUL! IMO DO NOT ORDER the Almond Cookie Sundae. Cookies were never baked properly, ice cream just ok and whipped cream marginal. 'Should have gotten the cheesecake. Although none of the desserts looked great.
We always look forward to dining at Big Bowl. The manager, Oy, is awesome! She takes time to talk with diners, and she has a great memory for past guests. I need to eat gluten free, and Big Bowl has a great gluten free menu. Love, love, love the pad thai and the flourless chocolate cake. Delish!
Excellent place to dine. I love food, see I am tempting now. I am not able to finish all plate though. Good staff and ambience. I love seating arrangement, you can spend good quality time with family.
First time to Big Bowl...I ordered the Bowl Bar...Sesame chicken...with kung par sauce and jasmine rice..I loaded up on broccoli and hot peppers...I thought it was pretty good...I will be back...
Food was too salty and likely full of MSG. The waitress did not have a pleasant attitude, did not listen and just talked over me. I won't be returning to this restaurant. Atmosphere is decent, probably better on a weekday as it was packed with people.
overall very good experience; wait staff attentive, and relatively quiet for mid-afternoon reservation time. All enjoyed our selections
Jimmy, our server was great!! The ribs (appetizer) were quite salty. The ahi tuna rolls were great, and the pad thai was ok.
Friendly staff, love the peanut noodles. We always have a good meal here.
We ordered Teriyaki Chicken...Orange Chicken both with vegetable fried rice...and Chicken Pad Thai. They were okay...the Chicken Pad Thai had an over powering lime taste. Overall it was okay, but not a repeater for us.
Great waiter... i wish i remembered his name, maybe Carlos? He was tall.
I have a gluten allergy. I tried the gluten free orange chicken with vegetable fried rice for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! I wish I would have tried it sooner. It’s made with res oranges and fresh grilled chicken. The gluten free Kung Lao can be spicy.
The service was great. The server was very attentive. The beef in the beef chow fun was a little tough but very flavorful. The bbq pork was tough and had too nuch fat.
A lovely experience. Our table was ready for us a few minutes before our reservation time, a hectic 7 pm on Saturday. When it became apparent one of our group was somewhat impaired to sit in a booth, the staff had no problem moving us to a table! Very impressed. And the food was hot, hearty and delicious. Thank you for making a great couples night for us.
The seating area was a bit like a high school cafeteria and the bench seemed to be broken. Our hostess tried to push it back into place but it didn’t work. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She helped me work the Let us entertain you app. The food was okay. My husband was happy with his mine was off the menu and alright.
We have been to this location several times and it's always been great, however, this visit the service was terrible. We had to ask for water 3 times before one of the guests offered to go to the bar and retrieve on own. A single glass of wine took more than 20 minutes to receive. I could understand if the venue was full of patrons, but it was only half full.
Service was very kind and concise, which I appreciate for a business lunch. Food was prepared well and came as expected, although a bit disappointed that you don't regularly carry hot Asian mustard - it is a staple of the cuisine. Would have liked a space that was a bit quieter - the space set aside had a combination of a large, raucous group and a manager on the phone, so it was no good for my lunch from a volume perspective. Overall a fine place for me to meet with a client, but I'll likely need to keep a casual mindset about the atmosphere.
Our server was very nice and friendly and went out of her way to help us celebrate my daughter’s birthday.
After many trips for an enjoyable dinner, our last experience was horrible. The food was cold and didn’t taste great, my wife asked for teriyaki sauce and after 10 minute minutes I went up to the kitchen and asked for it. It was a good run Big Bowl but you have gone way downhill
We had a large group, waited for a long time for our food and service was slow.
We were able to sit outside on the patio which was very nice. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke bowl and thought it was good but would like more options than just Ahi Tuna, such as salmon, spicy salmon, crab, etc...
Service was slow. Restaurant is dirty. Food was greasy.
We had dinner on the outside patio, service was above average, appetizers were pricey and small. Food was fresh and delicious, but keep in mind, if it’s labeled “spicy” it is true!
Great service! Delicious food. Will definately return.
I have always loved Big Bowl - have been a regular but I was eating in the Schaumburg restaurant after many years. While the food was as good as always, I felt that the ambiance needs some upgrade. Also, the dishes used (small plates as well as big ones) were not very clean. Even the table was a bit sticky at spots. The lack of cleanliness is the only reason it is 4 stars, otherwise 5 stars for food and service.
The person who server did not come back again, not even to fill water. And he for vote one of our order. We just half fed
Good food, as always, and friendly service. I appreciate the “cauliflower rice” option!
The food was fantastic! Me and my girlfriend shared a poke bowl and a pad thai dish and it was fantastic! Service was fast and the outdoor patio was a beautiful spot to enjoy our meal! I would give it 10 stars if I could !!
I ate there many years ago and remember that it was better. Maybe I was just cranky? The food was good - the drinks were cold and the service was okay. I'd repeat.
Fantastic place, outstanding service, amazing food !!!
This was our first time and we were very pleased with our selections. My husband loved the ability to customize his menu choice by selecting his own fresh vegetables. We will visit the location nearest to us.
I Use to love coming to big bowl the food tasted different and appeared different, I noticed the menus were redone are they under new management ? I ordered the combo pot stickers and it use to come with three sauces on the side and now it was just served plain they were very dry, if i could suggest anything bring back the sauce on the side. Also it felt as if we were being rushed so they could seat the next party and my birthday was also not acknowledged even though I Included that in the reservation thank you.
Was there on 7/13/19 and as soon as I sat down with my party, a little kid about 10 was going from table to table trying to sell candy bars. As soon as our waitress came, I told her is this something new where they allow children to sell candy bars? she said no and went and got the manager. The manager came out after about a min. or 2 and tried to catch and chase him out of the restaurant. He kept trying to elude the manager and finally he got caught and left. Here's my question.. How can there be customers, servers, waitresses, waiters and a hostess all over the place and no one notices this?
Have frequently visited Big Bowl but won't be going back. I can think of many restaurants I can enjoy a $60.00 meal and not feel I was rushed. Also, the food was not prepared correctly. My wife and I basically get the same items each time we dine, but the flavor/spices were not at all what we have come to expect from Big Bowl and a Lettuce Entertain you restaurant.
We go to BB often. It was just “off” tonight. Had reservations. Hostess girl was noticeably miffed when we asked not to sit in one of those first booths in front. What is up with nasty hostess girls? Is that in the job description? Anyway, our server was great. Food was a bit off. Calamari not as good as usual and skimpy portion.
Happens I guess. Hope it’s just a one time thing.
Great food! Good service!! Excellent gluten free menu and chocolate dessert!! We definitely will be coming back soon.
The restaurant has a beautiful outside seating area, however, they are not equipped staff-wise to handle outdoor seating. This is the second time we've been there in the past few months, only this time it was worse. When we were seated outside there were 3 tables seated, 2 of which were almost done and the 3rd table being ours. After 20 min, we saw 1 waitress, who did not stop at our table. We asked the hostess when he seated a 4th party outside to ask our server take our order, but no one every came. 10 min later, the guests sitting at the table next to us asked their server if they could get someone for us, as we had been waiting a while. The one waitress we kept seeing came to us and said I'm not your server, but I'm happy to get drinks started. We ended up having that same waitress for our entire visit. The hostess ended up bringing out ANOTHER 5 tables of people, but there was no addtl server that came out to help our server. A few servers popped out from time to time to bring out something someone asked for, but there was not any designated servers for the outside patio that has about 10+ tables in it. The only time a manager came out was to "Thank" the chef from another sister restaurant for joining them and asked if everything was excellent for them. A manager never came to our table, nor did she ever come back out after that stop. There was a big piece of hair in my ice glass, which the server apologized for and quickly replaced. To be clear, our server was great considering all she had to deal with. When I left, I politely asked the hostess to get someone to go outside and help her. The hostess responded telling me that it was first come first serve and he apologized. I advised that that had nothing to do with why I made that request to him and said you should not be sitting 10 tables outside for 1 server. The hostess then just looked off with a sarcastic sorry and looked the other way. Really bad experience and felt terrible for her.
Service was great. They took good care of us. The food was fun and high quality.
