Timber & Salt is a downtown Redwood City restaurant and bar serving quality steaks, seafood and craft cocktails. Our kitchen, led by award-winning chef Joshua Regal serves fresh, seasonal dishes highlighting the best ingredients California has to offer. We also serve one of the best burgers in Silicon Valley. Our cocktail program features hand-crafted cocktails using select spirits, house made syrups, bitters, tinctures and specialty garnishes. We also feature a deep list of spirits, fine wines and specialty beer. Both the kitchen and bar utilize fresh ingredients from our farm in Woodside California. Timber & Salt has intimate indoor seating for over 50 guests and an enclosed, heated outdoor patio for up to 30 guests. We are open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday.

I always like Timber and Salt. The service is always excellent and the cocktails wonderful. The food this last time was not at the caliber I expect at Timber and Salt. Some of the food was not as fresh as I expect and The Brussel sprouts were not prepared like I've had them in the past. I will try Timber and Salt again - but it was not up to what I expect there.

We had gone to celebrate daughter birthday. Food was amazing. Staff were very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. Overall it was an amazing experience.

As Chef Jose Rodriguez puts it aptly: ''When I am not in the kitchen cooking, I am experimenting and reinventing myself continually. I don't know any other way to feel alive.'' After a long hiatus, Chef Rodriguez returns to Trapeze where he always felt at home. Under a new management, Jose is granted the opportunity to express his creativity in his work freely. With years of experience and much amassed recognition in some of the most well known Michelin Star awarded restaurants in the Bay Area, we are all excited to see what wonders he will bring.

''In addition to my regular menu, I'm trying what I call approachable foods - simpler in some cases and more sophisticated creations in other'' said Mr. Rodriguez, who has been working as a private chef and caterer for over 20 years.

Trapeze is an attractive, friendly place. A relaxed atmosphere with great food and friendly, helpful staff. What’s not to like.

The staff was very welcoming and made the entire experience very enjoyable. We had a very generous waiter who made sure to meet our needs and was very friendly. You could feel the history in the building and the food was exquisite. We loved the carrot soup, beet and orange salad, halibut, chocolate soufflé, and creamsicle tart.

Even nicer than our first visit a few months ago. Full bar now which is good. Love that there is a happy hour, however, IT SHOULD be extended to beyond the bar (since it is from 4-6 when the restaurant is not busy during dinner hours. Some items are a little pricey. Food is very good, nice ambience. Great service.

We met friends for Happy Hour on Memorial Day and sat outdoors. Service and food was excellent. we had anticipated we would order from the regular menu as well, but the Happy Hour offerings were so delicious and surprisingly large that we were too full to order more. Especially enjoyed the fried Calamari - it wasn't greasy at all and super fresh. Drink options were great and the service was so attentive. I've need to the other Left Banks in Marin and I can't say I know their Happy Hour menus are all consistent, but this one is a hit.

History

The restaurant's name draws from the history of the Main Street building it's housed in, known as the Copeland Building. The historic building, which is on the list of Los Altos Historic Landmarks, originally housed the city's post office.
