Best crab cake I ever had- and I have had a lot!
Wonderful wait staff great food!! I will
Great food and service. We live in Maryland and we always stop here and eat when in the area.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere, social distancing in effect, proper cleaning and sanitation in place. Great place to eat with live music every night.
Sitting outside at Berret's enjoying a dozen oysters is always the best way to spend a easy afternoon in Williamsburg.
Food was ok, service and atmosphere were excellent.
Inside dining area very dated. Oysters were gross, Ceasars salad was gross. Main entree's were good. Ordered double veggies for my entree and it looked like a single serving. Said they were going to bring bread but never did and when asked didn't seem like they wanted to bring it out so we just said screw it. Totally wasn't worth the $103 we spent for 2 people, glad $50 of it was a gift card. 1 app, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 beers. Would not go back.
The toughest steak, for a filet; the driest potatoes ever. Nothing to make us come back for a dinner.
Their raw oysters are terrific and their crab cake is also excellent. Nice restaurant, great service too. We’ll be back!
It helps to make a reservation. My wife had a dozen roasted oysters, which was a good bargain, new-england style clam chowder, house-salad and I had the half-dozen oysters-Rockefeller, Caesar-salad, she-crab soup (not bisque), fried-green-tomato-stack, and we shared a crab-cake.
The oysters were small, perhaps because of the season, my oysters had too much spinach and not enough other meat, the stack of fried-green tomatoes had too few green-tomatoes, however the crab cake was full of meat and tasty, though small.
A better plan would be to order the dinner plate, which includes many of these items at a better price.
Very nice! Good food! Server was nice and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Ecxellent job during these “difficult” times!
Great food and live music. Plenty of outside seating
Did not love the food . It was just ok. The oysters were a good value and delicious . The mashed potatoes were salty. Waitress was very nice and accommodating .
Very dependable seafood with nice oyster selection at reasonable prices.
Wonderful experience! Food was wonderful. Had a knowledgeable waiter. Will return on our next trip to Williamsburg.
Very lovely restaurant. We have eaten there 3 times since moving to Williamsburg a few months ago. 2 out of 3 meals were excellent. Love the shrimp grits and oyster specials.
The one time, they could have given a baker's dozen, considering one was smaller than a cherry stone clam. Our last server was fantastic and she made a great vodka martini!
We prefer outside dining and come to think of it, the 2 great times were outside, with fantastic servers. We will visit again.
We enjoyed a quality seafood meal with crab cakes and rockfish. We dined inside and felt comfortable that the diners were spaced apart for social distancing. We also visited Berrets in the afternoon and sat outside to enjoy a cocktail and the Happy Hour oysters.
My wife and I really enjoyed our meal at Berret’s. When in the area I’m sure we will return.
Appetizers were mediocre. She crab soup was very bland, no sherry in it at all. Entrees were delicious though. You can't get wine by the glass, only by the bottle which we were a little frustrated with because who wants to buy a $55 bottle of wine without trying it first? Overall, experience was mediocre at best.
Great seafood restaurant with and good section of wine and beers. Service was excellent. We were seated on time/few minutes early. Care was taken with masks and cleanliness.
The crab cakes were our favorites. The seafood in parchment paper was also very good. I had the Red, White, and Blue and it was excellent.
Good seafood at a reasonable price. Sat outside at a table on the grass. Entertainment outside started at 5:00. Not fancy but good.
Great service and outstanding food. The atmosphere is okay but nothing special.
Mattt was a very good server. Funny and a happy go lucky guy. The food was ok, certainly not gourmet.
Our dinner was a complete disaster. Our Appetizers and Drinks came out fine, but it was down hill from there. We asked for bread and never got it, asked for water refills and never got it, the waiter couldn’t read his own handwriting and mistook the bottle of Chamblis I had ordered for a chicken entree. When our entrees did come, two of them were knocked over on the floor. The couple next to us waited an hour for food and the couple behind us got up and left after an hour and 45 minutes. (It was their (50th anniversary). We never got the other two entrees and when we asked the waiter told us the kitchen hadn’t gotten the re-fire order and it would be another 20 minutes. The worst part about all of this was the lack of management or supervision there. In our party we had a General Manager of a hotel, Travel Industry Expert, VP of Sales and a 30 year veteran in customer service. We all agreed that had there been an apology of some sort, we may have laughed and gone about our business. But for all of this to have happened and then still be handed $167 tab when two of the people in our party left without entrees was insane! Luckily Precarious was still open and we went and grabbed tacos and a beer. Luckily we ran into the couple whose anniversary it was and we were able to buy them a round to celebrate over tacos!!
The service was good. Table was good. Unfortunately 4 of 6 didn’t like their food. The special was had by three (fish in papiotte) and they didn’t like it.
Live music outside was nice!
Berret's has been in Colonial Williamsburg for a long time, but we only just discovered it. The food is plentiful, delicious and fresh. They've demonstrated their resourcefulness during Covid, by creating an outdoor dining area near the parking lot. I only wish you could make reservations outdoors. I also appreciate the nightly live music, but it's way too loud. I'm only in my 20s and I struggle to have a conversation over the full volume singing.
Service was great, and the food was excellent. Really loved the butter cake for dessert, and the mahi mahi for dinner.
We had a reservation for 7:30pm but due to the rain, we ended up showing up there at 6:30pm and they were very accommodating and sat us right then. The food was excellent and so was the staff.
Server was awesome. Very knowledgeable of the menu and his recommendations were on point. Even recommended other places to eat while we stayed or on our next visit. This was our first time on the fine dining side of the restaurant but have eaten at the bar and grill side several times. Can’t go wrong with eating here
Thank you for a very nice lunch. Salmon was outstanding!
Great good! Great service!
Great food and service. Not a very good bourbon list. No rye whiskey. We all loved our food. My son said it was the best pork chop he ever ate. Great fruit and cheese plate. Good crab cakes.
Everything was fabulous as always! Might want to consider an extra host at the inside stand . The man working there seemed very overwhelmed. We had the scallops and pork belly on grits and seafood in parchment. I highly recommend both. We will be back of course!
We were seated outside in an area where we felt safe from the virus. The oysters were excellent: our entrees tasty and generous.
Two couples meeting up in Williamsburg. One from RA and other TN, I saw an old friends daughter dining here on FB week before asked for recommendation. Then shopping at outlets, a store owner said we d already ate at 2 of his three favorites so we came for the trifecta and not one disappointment! She & I had the seafood parchment special a 12 +. Gentleman had salmon and crab cakes, all perfection.
