The Good: I had NZ lamb chops, my wife had sea scallops. Both were excellent. The Bad: It took quite a while for our server to get to us. Someone else delivered the food. We didn't see the server again until after I had paid the bill. No water. No "How is it going?" The Ugly: We parked on the street. The paving bricks on the sidewalk are a lawsuit waiting to happen. My wife sat with her back to the foliage in the outside pavilion. I saw lots of poison ivy. Far enough away but honestly! The Worst: The pavilion has wooden floors and a wooden paneled ceiling. The ambient sound was VERY LOUD. We picked sitting outside because outside is usually a bit quieter. For folk like me who want to have a quiet conversation (and who suffer from hyperacusis), that made the evening a strain. Bouncy conversation is one thing but the sound system added much too much noise. No need for music in such an environment.
Great atmosphere and great service. Waitress was amazing!
Wonderful covered outdoor location. Great service, drinks, and food.
Bernardins never disappoints! They are consistently wonderful in taste, presentation, ambiance, and value! Their staff and management strive to make every experience memorable!
Can’t wait to return!
Sorry all the curtains had to be drawn outside since it was raining so we couldn’t see the patio.
I think the server should tell the price of the specials- next time I will ask-it was a lot higher than I expected ( soft shell crab)
Wonderful place to have Wedding Anniversary dinner.
The perfect place to celebrate after proposing to my fiancé! The Food and Drinks were excellent. Thanks so much for a wonderful night that we’ll remember forever.
Ladies Night Birthday Party
Marvelous, marvelous place to eat. It never disappoints.
The emu is absolutely outstanding. If I closed my eyes I could easily be eating a nice cut of beef. I raise beef cattle, so that is saying something. Maybe I should raise some emus too?! The lamb is also phenomenal as well as the CAB Filet Mignon. Brussel sprouts were crispy and delicious. Escargot and mussels were great as well. I have been twice now and both times I was surprised at how "cheap" it was. The value is unsurpassed! Definitely one of the best restaurants in Winston-Salem!!
Great food, good service, excellent outside dining environment.
Night before Easter Sunday. Sharing an evening out in Winston with our son. My husband and I enjoy the outdoor dining area at Bernardins not to mention the food is top notch in taste and presentation. Our waitress was spot on with her timing and attentiveness and had a very pleasing demeanor. My husband ordered the lamb, my son ordered the Cab filet. Both dishes were cooked exactly as requested. I ordered the Lobster lobster. Sweet tender meat and delicious cream sauce. All our plates were empty, hats off to the chef. Perfection all the way!
A perfect restaurant for a romantic night out. They have a young, enthusiastic waitstaff that sincerely cares about their customers, and they offer a creative menu with spot-on execution and beautiful presentation. If you've never tried emu before, I heartily recommend it. It's very much like ostrich, and should similarly be ordered no warmer than medium-rare. Ostrich and emu are red-meat fowl that look, taste and have a texture like steak, but overcooking dries it out and robs it of flavor. My wife loved her brie-stuffed chicken breast too. Bernardin's is also expert at preparing vegetables. Veggies are not overcooked or undercooked; they retain just the right level of crunchiness. We were visiting from southern California and can honestly state that Bernardin's is equivalent to some of the best restaurants we have back home.
Good meal Very good service Upstairs noisy with loud 4 some next to us Lobster 2 ways special was delicious
Patio setting was perfect that is going to be a winner year round for everyone
just one of our guests ordered A different meal and the waitress didn’t get it in right ,but all was delicious.
A little loud for the ambiance. But can’t wait to come back
We celebrated a very special 30th wedding anniversary and Bernadin's was the perfect place. Food was amazing.
Had a lovely dinner to celebrate birthdays. All four of us were very pleased with every aspect of our experience. Our appetizers, entrees and desserts were generous and delicious, the presentation was so nice. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive.
Menu looked amazing but in the end we found nearly everything we ordered to be just okay. We did love the tuna appetizer and enjoyed our evening out regardless, just hoped to be wowed and weren’t.
Great service for a fun evening with friends
The experience was, as always, excellent!
Excellent service. Our waitress was very nice and very accommodating. She didn’t mind us asking her to take good pictures of our group.
Made reservations for six of us and specifically requested a round table. I actually call the restaurant several days before to confirm a round table and I was assured there would be one. However when we got there they said they did not have a round tables at that restaurant so we were a little disappointed. It took 20 minutes to get the server to take out drink orders. I requested a bottle of wine that I had never had before just so we can each try it before dinner was served. It took quite some time to get the wine brought to the table. The food was excellent and the server was very pleasant but the whole evening was rather slow.
Amazing as always!
Had an excellent Valentines Dinner with our wonderful server Monica. 10/10 would recommend!
Beautiful, cozy and romantic house with fantastic, well made food and impeccable plating. Will be going back soon.
Great food, good service and romantic ambiance
Ambiance was great, servers were cordial, food was excellent, while we’re aware that the chef was making sure food is perfect, it took a little longer than expected. The parking was a bit of a problem as well.
Ordered filet and lobster, had to send steak back twice, only got free dessert to compensate.
The only complaint we would have is that we felt rushed through dinner. Maybe it was our fault in not asking to delay the arrival of appetizers and the main course.
We went here to celebrate Valentine's day. The appetizer of calamari exceeded our expectations. The wine selection was certainly good. Mine along with many of the steaks around us were under cooked, however it was still very tasty. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was rare. However, everything else about the meal was way above average. We will go back on a night that is not quite so busy.
Exceptional meal. I had the lobster and my wife the Chilean sea bass. Both exceptional. We are coming back
I was there for an early Valentine's Day dinner. The atmosphere was great, very cozy. Service was good attentive but not overwhelming. The food was delicious, for appetizer we had the brussel sprouts, which were excellent and some clam chowder, which was really good as well. I had the duck and my wife had the scallops, both were very good with good presentation. We both had wine with our dinner. Dessert, creme brulee and some coffee, both were good but nothing to brag about. I like my coffee strong and my creme brulee a little thicker. Overall we enjoyed our date night and will be back to try some other items on the menu.
Great venue for small business dinner meeting. We had 6 in our party in the private room upstairs. Food and service was amazing!
The food is big city delicious! We will surely go back and recommend to our friends!
Our first time here. Service and food were outstanding.
first time diners, excellent food, really innovative combinations of ingredients, loved it...
Food was delicious as always. Enjoyed the experience
Special occasion place for us & it's a perfect atmosphere for such nites out!
Bernardins has exquisite food. Everything from their starters to soups to entrees to desserts is prepared to perfection. Each meal is an inventive combination of textures and tastes, seasoned flavorfully but not too highly spiced. The variety of main courses would satisfy the adventurous (kangaroo, emu, and more) as well as the more traditional guest.
Truly elegant gourmet dining. It would be hard not to love this restaurant!
