Bentley's Grill - The Grand Hotel in Salem
Would have liked the waitress to be more upbeat and in tune to with what was going on. She was just doing her job nothing special and not very outgoing. 2nd round of drinks took forever. Glad I wasn't leaving the tip. : (
I live in Portland and my sister lives in Eugene, so we meet half way in Salem. Bentley's has always been our go to place. We love the history of the restaurant and hotel, not to mention the bar. I've introduced many people to the restaurant and will continue to do so. The service yesterday was wonderful. Our waitress was not only friend but fun to visit with.
Been here many times and this was the first bad experience. The service was slow and the food was not hot. The manager did give us a free bottle of wine and free deserts to make up for it. Hope it was just one of those unfortunate nights. Based on previous visits, we will return and give them another chance.
I thought the wine was over priced. Honestly, $44 for a $10 bottle of wine is a little pricey. Other than that, the food was really good and the service was as well
Very expensive, the menu doesn't describe what the actual meal is very well. Not much seasoning to any of the food.
We really enjoyed our evening at Bentley’s Grill . We always like dining at places with a Historic backstory and this was a great experience.
The staff were all friendly, helpful & cheerful which always make for a better experience.
The food was delicious! The menu wasn’t overly extensive but a few options for everyone. They had a special chefs 3 course deal which was fantastic and I really enjoyed the tasting variety.
Nice selection of wines as well.
I would recommend the Bentley’s Grill
We enjoyed our meal at Bentley's Grill. The food was tasty, the choices were excellent and the portions were good. It's a little large for a small romantic dinner but looks excellent for happy hour. I'd go back for that.
Very good Service and Food was excellent as always.
Have dined here before, and returned, again, due to the excellence of the entire meal, service, and friendliness of all the employees.
Waitress was awesome. Very friendly. She knew the menu when we asked question. Very informative. I would request her as my waitress When I return next time.
Wonderful dinner and service - plus we had snacks in the bar the previous night and they were great too. Appetizers, main dishes and desserts were all goo.
I really enjoy the Grand Hotel and Bentley has always been good. The ambiance is wonderful and so is the food.
Our visit was a pre event dinner for a benefit at the Convention Center...Our server was Ryan..He had through knowledge of the menu and was very helpful...The food was well presented with adequate wine pairings...Great value and quality.....We will return...
The only reason why I could not give Bentley’s a 6 or more stars, is because the program will only allow 5 star rating.
Always great! Look forward to eating at Bentleys whenever we are in town.
Upscale hotel restaurant with business/lobbyist vibe. Excellent cuisine, large portions and expansive wine and spirits list. We would definitely go their again. It’s a solid biz dinner or date night choice.
Hostes was wonderful!! She went above and beyond to make this a special night for me and my friend. Food was great! We were not rushed... Drinks were great!! Will be back!!!
Great lunch. I was at the convention center for a conference, so I made a reservation knowing that the restaurant would be crowded. It was, but we were seated right away. Service was good but kind of slow due to number of people at lunch. I would think that they would be better prepared for these situations considering that the restaurant is attached to the convention center. The meal was good though and got done with 15 minutes to spare for the afternoon conference series.
I was there for a conference and really enjoyed the food and service. I would recommend eating there.
The staff are fantastic......from the young woman who seated us, to the servers, to the people who prepared our meals they are first class all the way.
Bentley's is always wonderful. The staff are amazing! We love going there for special occasions and anytime we want a yummy and unique meal. So happy they are here in Salem!
Very slow service, finally got bread and it was stale. one person's meal had to be rewarmed. mine should have been. we were there for 2 1/2 hours. food was mediocre. We are not new to Bentley's.
The food is good. The restaurant is nice. The service both from the wait staff to out of the kitchen is slow. It took over 90 min for a dinner for 3
Good food but a bit expensive
Great place to eat. Great steak, prime rib, dessert, beer and wine. We bring all of our friends and enjoy our evening.
Service was courteous, helpful and at just the right time. Halibut was great with pesto on top. The chicken was a bit dry but both mixed drinks were good! The ambiance was nice and even dollar amounts on everything made tipping even easier.
Food was very good but service left a little to be desired. When our group arrived they asked if a table was ok, we let them know one of our group had a very bad back and a booth would be much better. The hostess seemed extremely put out by this request. She was very off-putting and gave a vibe that we were unwanted. The wait staff started off very friendly and attentive and then I don't know if she just got too busy but she pretty much threw our food down and left and did one fly by check in as she was walking away from our table. Maybe it was just an off day for the staff but kind of left us with a feeling of being very unwanted customers.
Good food and excellent service. Many children on the night of our visit as attached to the Grand Hotel.
Always have loved the feeling of going to a special place and maybe just for no particular reason.
That is Bentleys!
Great setting with fantastic service, only issue was that one of the steaks was a little over cooked. Thank you for a wonderful dinner, we will be back.
Went for our anniversary. We enjoyed the Ambiance very much. The fireplace in the middle is nice. Sunday night so the noise level was not too bad. Our food was great and our waitress was very friendly. We will be back.
Our server was very nice, helpful, and attentive to our needs. We were served quickly and didn’t feel rushed to leave. The menu item I really wanted to try (the filet mignon) wasn’t available, so I ordered the butternut squash ravioli. The food was good, but tasted average and wasn’t worth the price. I felt like we were paying for the aesthetic dining experience and not the quality of the food. Overall, the service was great, but the meal was unimpressive.
We were in town for a special occasion, ourselves and another couple. All of us from out of town. Walking in through the hotel lobby we knew we had found a nice place for dinner. The atmosphere is elegant, yet welcoming. We ordered New York steak, rib eye steak, the surf and turf special, and a Mary's chicken. (The chicken was a second choice as at 6:30 in the evening our companion was told the filet mignon was gone?) We had an appetizer and a dessert. All of the food was great, my friend had the seafood chowder and claimed it to be the best ever! (he gets around). Aside from the filet outage we enjoyed great food. Service wasn't terrible, but it wasn't up to par with the overall quality the atmosphere seeks to project. Young and inexperienced, the host seemed unsure where to seat us as we entered dining room, and the waiter knew little to offer related to the menu, and he was less attentive than we would expect from such a place.
I don't want to sound like I am bashing the service but it is honest to state they need more training. They were friendly enough.
I don't live in Salem and I wanted to take my mother to dinner for her 70th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is delicious (baked Boursin appetizer...OMG) and the waitstaff was super accommodating; my brother and sister-in-law have specific diet restrictions. I would go back tonight...if I lived in Salem!
The ravioli is absolutely marvelous and the service is always great.
Greatly enjoyed the meal and the service was very attentive and accommodating.
This place was amazing. I let them know ahead of time that it was for my wife’s graduation dinner. When we got there they were so happy and congratulating her. Throughout the night the other waitresses were talking to each other and all through the night. New ones would say congratulations and you’re the girl who graduated right??? It felt so good. The fire pits they have you can sit next too are a beautiful part of the restaurant. The way it was so beautiful and classy. But you can be laid back. They have a great huge wine collection. A great place to just go and have a nice glass of wine. The steak was to die for. So perfectly cooked and the rest of the meal was amazing. No one had anything bad to say. The prices were great and reasonable for everyone :) it’s a great place for anything you’re going there for and it’s a block from the waterfront and from other hot spots in Salem. Garage parking right next to it as well.
Bentley’s is a good bet for any happy hour or dinner, couples & groups.
Food is good, not great. Drink and wine selection amazing, service ok.
Could be a great hang spot, but only comes in at above average
A great place for salem.
Eight of us dined at Bentley's on Easter. We had reservations and were quickly seated. Special requests were quickly accommodated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. All the dinners arrived hot and delicious. We will be back.
My dinner mates had the fish special and found it very good. I had the pork loin special and the flavors were marvelous. However, the pork was dry and that took away from what could have been a 4 star plate.
