Benihana - Sacramento
From start to finish this is a 2 hour ordeal. If you get a bad chef which we did, it leaves you with negative thoughts. The place is in serious need of a remodel or new location.
Very loud. Not much food for the price, 1 piece of squash per person and a few onions. Been to several similar places throughout the US, food was better. Food server was good, sushi also good
Birthday dinner. Very good
Place was dirty. Took 1hr to get food. Service was poor. However, chef was really nice once we got food. Short staffed on cooks.
We had reservation for 7:30 and did not get seated until 8:45. The waitress did not bring everyone soup and missed someone on the salad too. It was cold next the window and they would not close the blinds to stop the draft. Everything took a long time...but the Chef was good.
Food and service were outstanding, the wait time Even with a reservation was frustrating, but well worth the wait.
This location is very poor in comparison to others in the Bay Area. We were surprised as we have frequented the Bay Area locations while we lived down there. Specifically, the restaurant design, lightening and ambiance. The chef, Robert, and waitress were excellent and commend their service. Food was good and our kids enjoyed the show. I highly recommend that this location be redesigned as it was too tightly packed and the bathrooms were not well maintained. I would not visit this location again except for the service we received.
Aways an entertaining dinner. Chef keeps you involved in the cooking process.
Food was nice. Steak cooked as ordered. Chef was very entertaining. Service was slower than normal. Was nice getting a picture last 2 times was not done.
With 4:30 reservations I was not anticipating such a long wait. I took first time to Benihana guests, and was disappointed with the chef's cooking show. It was overall....lacking.
Dated interior. Does not feel clean. We had reservations for two and it took forever to get seated, forever to place our order, forever to get the chef there and cooking and then half the food is cold by the time the whole meal is cooked. Not the best teppanyaki place in town for sure. I’m glad I tried it and I won’t go back for their prices and their dates interior/exterior.
I love the food but very disappointed to learn upon arrival that seating for reservations was running an hour behind. So after waiting an hour, we finally get seated. When we sat down, the table in front of us was just leaving, was cleaned, sat new guests and they ordered all BEFORE our table’s drink order was taken. Our server was beyond SLOW!! Our chef was great and the food is always good!
My wife and I love this place, it’s a great treat whenever we can get away. It was really packed the night we went but we still didn’t have to wait too long passed our reservation time. The staff is always friendly.
Worst service ever experienced had reservation at 4 PM refused to sit us until 430. Interaction with staff was rude and acted like we were bothering them will never go back to this location
Benihana is my favorite restaurant. I have been to this one at least 10 times. Food is always good. Service is usually good. Today was great. Our server and chef were awesome! The “ambiance” leaves something to be desired. I know it’s in a shopping center but this location needs an update. It’s looking very dated.
After arriving on time for our reservation, we waited 30 minutes to be seated. There were about 35 people waiting in the foyer, bar, and outside. While waiting, there is seating for about 1/3 of those people, if you count the bar. The restaurant needs a remodel inside and out, badly. The hostess also needed a new shirt to replace the worn out uniform shirt that’s had about 50 washes too many (or dye the old shirt). We were seated for about another half hour before we received our drinks, and waited another 45 minutes before a chef was available to attend to our grill. The food was good and plentiful and the chef was capable and entertaining.
The atmosphere has changed over the past 20 years we have been coming here. The servers and chefs are good. But, we were sat for lunch and waited an hour for our chef to arrive. Manager was accommodating but this is unacceptable when you have a Reservation. We were there for a birthday and we had to ask for desert and did not get a photo- maybe they stopped doing this. Its expensive but we have always gone for the overall experience. My last visit was the same waited an hour- not going back. Mgmt changes overall have impacted the experience- starts with leadership.
Took over an hour an half for our food to start being cooked. Reservation for 8pm and didn’t leave till after 1015. Way way way too long to wait for food.
I love Benihana. Food and entertainment is always great!
We have been to Benihana many times. This is the first time we were disappointed ☹️. Had reservations for 6pm. We had to wait 1 1/2 hours to be seated. Was first told there were 4 groups ahead of us Later was told they could not find our reservations
It was my daughter’s 18th birthday
The food was great
The chef was ok. Lacked the normal enthusiasm and showmanship we are accustomed to.
Every single visit they’re running 30+ minutes past reservation. The food is fantastic but if I can’t count on
Great job by Robert our chef! Enjoyed celebrating my birthday with my wife, daughter and mom.
I always love going here for dinner and I always make a reservation when we go. I had reservations for 2 at 8pm but we didn't get seated until after 9pm because they were running behind. This happens more often than I'd like to think. Not sure why I bother with reservations if we can't even eat until 2 hours after that time. I'm glad we don't make after-dinner plans because we wouldn't make it. The food is always fantastic and (besides the long wait with a reservation) everything was great.
First time here and it was awesome. I would recommend it to anyone.
Although the food was good, our overall experience was fair. The noise level was off the charts - so loud it was difficult to hear the person next to me most of the time - and we were at the end of the restaurant so it was most likely quieter than if we had tables on both sides of us. Our waitress went on break and didn't inform us. We had to find another waitress to take over. I am gluten free and everyone was VERY accommodating which was a huge plus. But the noise level was very difficult.
Even with a reservation the staff did not get us a chef or a table on a timely matter. Waited 2 hours to eat and the experience was not enjoyable felt like we were not a priority. We were paying customers but it didn’t seem like it. Food was rushed and I just won’t go there anymore. Will choose other dining options before this place definitely.
Terrible we made a reservation for 8:45 got drinks and 9:30 and ended up leaving at 10:30 with out eating any food and being ignored multiples times.
Terrible customer service!
We had a reservation for 7:45 pm for a party of 8 and we checked in at 7:30 pm. They told me to wait a few minutes and they would call us. 25 minutes later and nobody even acknowledged that we are waiting. I asked again when will they have our table and they said they don’t know. They were still waiting for two tables to clear and had two parties ahead of mine. I said that there is no point in making a reservation if you wait indefinitely. The hostess said that reservation doesn’t guarantee you a table at the reserved time. I haven’t received such bad customer service at any restaurant before. So, I took my friends to a different restaurant and we were treated very well.
We made reservations and were seated in a timely manner...but waited 40+ minutes until the chef came to the table. Yet - we could see several staff hanging around chatting with each other. Some even did some interesting dance moves, then resumed their conversation laughing at how funny they were. It was loud inside, so it made waiting difficult because we couldn't hear ourselves when talking to each other. Waiting so long gave us the chance to check out the surroundings-alot. Decor is VERY dated, which is surprising given the cost of the meals. I wonder how old the carpet is - looks stained and paths worn through. The food was good. The chef was fun and engaging. It was fine for an 11 year-olds' birthday celebration. She was happy.
I had been to one several years ago - and I remember it being more of an event.
Excellent service and food!
Birthday dinner was great!
50th Birthday...Restaurant is definitely in need of a facelift. Cushions outside are ripped and torn and decor inside is old and outdated. Service was good. Food was just ok.
The food is always great there ! But they seem to be short on cooks it takes a little time but I would still go back! Love it just don’t be in a hurry
It was my birthday and I really enjoyed myself everything was good!!!!
Went with family to celebrate a birthday.
The wait time was terrible complaining to manger was a waste of time we didn’t even get a sorry cook took hour to come out and was messing up the food the good taste wasn’t there we paid our bill and left before cook was done that’s how bad it was.
Food was delicious but the noise level was a bit loud.
The wait time was long for us as well as most customers, even though we had reservations. Service was not up to par that night.
I have always told all of my friends how great Benihana‘s was until my recent visit. Yes it was a busy weekend and I expected to be crowded. I felt like the food was cooked so that the next table could hurry up and take our place. The cook didn’t talk to us at all. The food was not seasoned well at all. We were a party of four and our bill came to $200 with one adult beverage. I just felt as much as we paid for one dinner the food could’ve at least tasted well. The onion was burnt and the zucchini was hard and raw. The lobster in the shrimp were just OK. I’m very saddened by my last visit to Benihana’s
My birthday, didn’t get an ice cream.
