Benihana - Maple Grove
Chef didn’t do much. Brought my mom for the first time and after the broken egg, nothing. No heartbeat, train, shrimp tail toss and so on.
We know to expect excellent food at Benihana, but our experience was enhanced by our terrific waiter. Knowledgable and accommodating, it was a true pleasure.
The food was awesome, staff was very helpful and friendly.
Birthday for my husband
Great food, chef was outstanding. Fast service and atmosphere was fun. The chef brought my granddaughter a special bowl of ice cream!
Great fun & food. Our granddaughter (8) had a wonderful time and so did we. Our chef was terrific about communicating with the children at our table. Very much appreciated!
Birthday was very fun
The food exceeded my expectations and prior experiences there! Yummmy
Dynamite Dan & Jorge were excellent & very accommodating. They made our son’s birthday celebration very memorable. Brian the manager was super friendly also.
The Tepanyaki-style Japanese cooking is usually entertaining, but our chef was pretty low key on this visit, so it was all a bit boring. Also, the food is only average, certainly not worth the nearly $30 price tag per person. Wish I would have gone somewhere else with better food since the entertainment certainly wasn't there. Don't think I'll be back.
Always a pleasure!
This was our 3rd time here and it was our 6 yr old's pick for his birthday. Our server Eric was the best we have had and our chef, Antonio was simply outstanding! Great food and a great time!
Our cook was awesome...this time 2weeks earlier our cook ...not so good
Our server was awful. Almost got everything wrong and forgot to do pretty much anything the table asked for. Our server forgot to get our table their white rice (4 people ordered it), forgot to put in our order for sushi, forgot to give the chef his bowls, mistold my sister that the yum yum sauce was dairy-free (which our lovely chef corrected for us), forgot to give the other people at our table their extra soup, and messed up everyone’s receipt except for ours. He also took like 30 minutes to come back to do the ice cream, birthdays, and payment for our meals. We told him twice that we had 3 birthdays and he kept thinking we had 2? Otherwise our chef was amazing, I think his name was Aaron? He was a true professional despite the server’s incompetence. I definitely think our server needed either a lot more training or should just find another job because this isn’t the job for him. He basically ruined our experience there which is a bummer because our chef was so good.
Jackson was a fantastic chef!
Our chef ?Mauricio was fantastic, he did a great job especially making sure the kids were entertained. As always the food was delicious. A little disappointed that even with a reservation, we were seated 15 minutes later than that time, we even had arrived 10 minutes early then that so waited a while
Jonathan was the worst server I have ever had in my life. We didn't get our salad or soup for an hour after being seated. One of our salads was just plain lettuce with no dressing. Jonathan then tried to bring us another serving of soup less than two minutes later. He asked me if I wanted another beer three times over a 20 minutes period before actually bringing me one.
He then got two of the orders wrong for our table and the chef had to make him go back and get the right ingredients.
He forgot to put our order for sushi in, broke a glass, screwed up the bill, didn't get is silverware. The list of errors go on and on. The common consensus at our table was that he was high or drunk. It was so bad that others at tables around us started taking notice and commenting about how terrible our service was. The manager eventually came out and apologized and to his credit gave us 50% off the bill.
Rosen the chef was a great chef and very engaging.
It started off bad being placed at a table with a bunch of kids and the parent couldn’t control them to the waitress paying attention to a side conversation I was having and telling her manager that I threatened her. Her misunderstanding is the reason I will do my best to NEVER EVER choice this location again
Hair in soup.
Fall off her chair drunk person at our table.
We were trying to celebrate an 11 year olds birthday with 2 drunk people at our table.
Mixed drinks were horrible!!! My cosmo was like fruit punch.
Time to be done with Benihana!!
I'm not sure I could recommend this location based on our experience. I'd need to give them another chance before I could answer this. Even though we had reservations to sit in the dining room we choose to sit in the bar for a more private conversation. Naturally the bar was extremely noisy so conversation was difficult so that poor decision is on us. After ordering our dinner we waited over 45 minutes for our food even asking our waiter what was going on. He finally told us he may not have hit send to place our order. When he delivered our food he apologized again plus told us the manager cut our bill in half. That was nice to have him do that since I typically don't like asking for a discount when someone admitted to making a mistake and apologized for it. The food did taste good.
This was a birthday dinner for my daughter we love this restaurant but was very upset to know that they don’t want to try and help you at all regarding a coupon that you’re supposed to get and don’t want to compensate anything nobody ever gets the coupons again and they don’t want to give you any type of a discount and that’s very poor
We have dined here several times and they don't refill your drinks! You have to track the waitress down only to have her sigh at you and take her time to come back with refills.
They are known for the chicken fried rice, but they charge you almost $6 to get it with your meal.
Great food- more than you can eat. Chef read great entertainment- watching him prepare the meal with som cooking tricks. Next time I will know not to eat so much at the beginning of the meal. We ended up taking enough food home for another meal. It was great!
Service was not as good as in the past. We had to ask for refills on our beverages where in the past the server was aware & brought right away! We sat closest to the door and it got very busy & very loud. The cook, the food and “the show” were excellent ! It was obvious the restaurant was short staffed!
Always great food & great place to celebrate birthdays. Highly recommended
Fun place to celebrate a birthday! Delicious food! Cool cooking show.
While you expect a long process as part of the experience, we waited 25 minutes past our reservation time to be seated and then didn’t start the meal until about 45 min past sitting down. Service was slow for drinks too. Disappointed considering how much we spent for a family of 6
We frequently go to Benihana because we always have a great time there! Last time we went there, we had chef Jackson and he was amazing!
The food was amazing as always. The service was terrible and inconsistent. I put a Togo order in at the beginning of lunch and and an hour later after I pay the bill I’m told by our server they haven’t even started the food and she blamed the kitchen for being slow and not getting to things quick enough. 20min later I asked for my money back and still wanted my food because it was the servers fault and I shouldn’t have to put up with it. She said no and I asked for the manager. The manager came over and told me he isn’t here to handout free meals. But I can have a discount. 20min more later I finally get my Togo order and a $9 dollar discount. I will never go there again. We spend never less that $130 when we go and have never been treated like that.
We celebrated our birthdays. It was very delicious
Benihana’s offers a great overall experience and the food is delicious! However, the last few times I have been there the service hasn’t been very good. I think the severs really need to step it up. We went for a birthday dinner and they sever didn’t put a candle in the ice cream or sing happy birthday. They was also another birthday person at the table in a different group.
This location is not as entertaining as Golden Valley or Roseville. The culinary expertomise is just not exciting and it was far too quiet and not engaging. No saki to taste as with others. Food underseasoned and lack of assorted vegetables. Only zuchinni and onions.
The floor was so slippery, like an ice rink. Really dangerous. I don’t think the hoods were working correctly but we were told it was normal and there was nothing they could do about it.
Amazing chef, had to wait for our table but other than that it was perfect.
We had a reservation with Open Table. Took 15 minutes to seat us while seating many other parties first.
Chef was one of the very best we’ve ever had!!
The entrees are very pricy for what you get and the quality. You are definitely paying for the show...i mean a 4 buck upcharge for chicken fried rice instead of white rice is ridiculous. The lobster quality seemed questionable as my wife felt it had an off taste. The soup is little more than broth with a few thin mushrooms and we didnt even get our green tea.
The food was good but seemed to be swimming in butter and or grease. Portion size was on small side even for lunch.
our cook was awesome, very friendly and kept everyone engaged in the experience
We waited 40 min to start the courses even though we had a reservation.
