   Food was great once we got our table i made a reservation for 6 pm got there on time but still gay to wait for over an hour to get seated. Like why make a reservation for if you still have to wait forever to be seated

   We had a reservation at the Las Colinas Benihana for Mother’s Day 2025, expecting a special evening. Instead, we waited over two hours past our reservation time to be seated. Despite mentioning the delay and it being a holiday, there was no apology, compensation, or acknowledgment from the staff. The food was fine, but the poor service and lack of accountability ruined the experience. My kids were starving and my youngest fell asleep before we could have lunch or rather now dinner. We won’t be returning. In 2025, there’s no reason for this poor planning.

   This location is usually consistent. Unfortunately, today (Mother’s Day) was bonkers. With a reservation, they were running an hour behind on seating. We arrived at 12:20pm for a reservation at 12:45pm. We were seated around 1:30pm. The hostess did her best to remain calm and give clear information. Once seated, Emily did a good job managing the other half of our table, which was a family of 5 eating at Benihana for the first time. Chef Marcos was very entertaining. I’ve been going to Benihana for 25 years, and he still impressed me with his antics. More importantly, his food was excellent. Also, shout out to the manager who was trying his best to keep people from getting towed for parking illegally in fire lanes and other unauthorized places. He also delivered shrimp tempura appetizers to tables and apologized for the wait. Good experience overall. But had to acknowledge this was the longest I’ve ever waited for a table anywhere with a reservation.

   I am writing to formally express my disappointment and frustration regarding my recent experience at your Irving location. I have been a loyal customer of Benihana since 2021, frequently dining at this specific location. On Mother’s Day, I called the Irving Benihana at 12:06 PM and spoke to a gentleman to confirm whether the lunch menu was being honored. He clearly stated that it was. Based on this information, I booked a reservation for 12:30 PM. Unfortunately, we were not seated until 1:30 PM—an hour after our scheduled time. Once seated, the server informed us that the lunch menu was not being served. I then spoke with the manager, Luther Smith, who confirmed the same thing. This was incredibly disappointing, especially given the prior confirmation over the phone. I have never felt so embarrassed at this restaurant in all my years of dining here. To make matters worse, Luther did not express even the slightest remorse for the confusion or inconvenience. From a customer service standpoint, I found his attitude dismissive and unprofessional. He didn’t even ask if we were okay or offer any type of solution or acknowledgment. I don’t know if he’s a new manager, as I’ve never seen him before, but this experience was truly upsetting and ruined what was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day celebration. I would appreciate a response regarding how this situation will be addressed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

   We went for Mother’s Day and there was no parking. We had to park at an office that wasn’t open. We waited an hour after sitting down before we got a chef. The table next to us that sat down and ordered after us got someone first. It took a long time to get the check and my husband didn’t get the ice cream included with his meal. The food was great, but the service was terrible.

   Food was good BUT I had a really bad experience. I brought my mom in for mother’s day and asked for everything gluten free. I saw that there were crispy onions with my meal, i asked if those were gluten free/not breaded. The chef told the server yes it’s fine no bread! so i was eating and found myself having a reaction. 10 minutes after, after i had already opted to not eat, as he’s cleaning goes “yeah those are fine for you. no bread, only onions and flour” I notified the server just so she was aware in the future! I wasn’t mad about it. The manager comped my meal, which was kind. It just sucks that I had an allergic reaction. Not sure if I would be back, if they can’t discern what is safe for allergens

   The experience was exactly as we remembered it to be. Food was good and the service was excellent.

   One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Management has absolutely no sense of customer service we were actually told to get up from our table and stand around while they processed our check. Completely unprofessional. Our server was intermittent at best disappearing for long stretches and showing little interest in whether we needed anything. Between the chaotic service and the lack of basic courtesy from the management, we won’t be returning, and we wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

    We ordered drinks when we sat down, recieved glasses of wine after 40 minutes and an old fashion after one hour. Chef came 20-30 minutes after we finished our appetizers. We were at the restaurant almost 2.5 hours. We were sat at our reservation time but service was so slow. Chicken was dry. This was a birthday dinner that we reserved almost 3 weeks ahead of time. It was not the evening we had planned.
