Benihana - Key West Ratings and Reviews
We are visiting from Connecticut and wanted to go back to Benihana because we haven’t been there in years since our local Benihana closed there about 25 years ago. It was everything we remembered! Food was excellent and plentiful. The show put on by the chef was excellent too. Thank you Benihana of Key West!! 😊💕
What a good fun place to have a meal with up to 7 of your closest friends. It is a Hibachi style with very engaging and energetic chefs. We had Michael and he did a fabulous job. He kept the kids entertained while cooking a great meal. I would recommend this to anyone, and if you've never had a Hibachi style meal before, you have to try it. We all had the filet, and I also had the scallops which were wonderful! Give it a try!
Great hibachi fun! All of the chefs are energetic and talented. Food is excellent and I love getting to see it made. Beware, you will get a TON of food! There are a lot of menu options that cater to many different pallets and dietary needs. The hibachi noodles are by far my favorite of any hibachi place I've ever been.
We have been coming to Benihana's in Key West for many years. Came to celebrate a birthday with family. We were given a rookie cook at best, did not entertain as we have had in past. Forgot about our birthday song, and we did not get our picture, and overall not a very good experience. Could not use our birthday coupon, poor service, will probably go to another establishment in the future. But looked like the tourists were well taken care of.
food ok, noise level not good....could not hear guests at our table.. Way too many loud kids. suggest that you have a kids area and an adult area... May not come back until you separate the kids from adults, not going to pay $100 again until the kids are gone or separated from the adults.
Our hostess was busy putting on her make up at the hostess stand while we were waiting. Additionally, they appeared to be somewhat disorganized in terms of assigning a chef to attend your table. Very expensive for what we received in terms of food and service.
Although this restaurant is usually very good all around, this time it was very busy and our table was very rushed by the wait staff. Probably due to holiday period and people waiting for tables. That does not make for a pleasant dining experience. Therefore, I would recommend this place for anytime other than holidays.
This location is only open for dinner. We were celebrating a birthday and presented the waiter with a birthday certificate when we were seated. Could not use certificate if both of us were ordering from sushi menu, so one of us had to order a "cooked"dinner even though we didn't want that and we always order lots of sushi so we would have spent even more on sushi than a cooked dinner. Waiters used to sing "happy birthday" in Japanese but not any more and they used to take your photo to commemorate the birthday but they didn't, nor did they offer a birthday desert. In fact, except for the phone call to confirm the reservation when they asked if we were celebrating a birthday, nobody at the restaurant even mentioned a birthday even though they new we had a birthday certificate and after our meal, when the waiter brought us our check, he handed the certificate back to me saying "don't forget this on the table". We had to remind him that we wanted to use it because one of us had a birthday today, even though we had had this conversation when we first sat down and he had to keep checking with the manager as to what we had to order to be able to use the certificate. The manager said no matter how much sushi/sashimi we ordered, we wouldn't be able to use the certificate unless we ordered a "hibachi" meal too. And even though the "hibachi" dinner included a desert, we were charged for the one desert we ordered. The food was good but we left feeling a little let down and disappointed because the ordering process was such a struggle in order to use the certificate and we didn't order all the sushi we wanted because the manager said we had to order the hibachi meal too and we didn't feel like we had celebrated a birthday at all. This used to be a fun place to celebrate a birthday but now not so much.
Celebrating our sons 26th birthday! Benihana has always been one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions. The food, service and staff are just great and there's always a familiar face in the restaurant. Tonight Ted and Michael our Chef really made the night special! Thank you!
Special dinner at Benihana. Good food...lots of it. Still eating leftovers. Our chef Juan was excellent and entertaining. Was there in vacation staying next door at Hyatt. Everyone else at our table was a Key West local which was fun to be with. We both ordered chateaubriand. First time ever had that at Japanese restaurant. Cooked perfectly. Price a bit high...but still eating it. Fun. Nice touch at end...took bday pic of me, printed and gave it to us. Nice.
The smoke of cooking was coming to our faces. At the end of the dinner all our clothes were smelling very bad. The service wasn't so good. They quickly served all the food, even before we could eat what was on our plate and wanted us the leave the restaurant to get new customers.
It was probably the worst Benihana dinner we ever had.
Coming in as a couple, we were seated with another group of people in order to fill out the table. A bit uncomfortable celebrating an anniversary with people we didn't know, but that's more our fault for not having ever been to a Benihana's before.
Kudos to the chef. Food was good and his show was fun. Overall still a positive experience. Suggest going with larger group rather than an annivetsary for two though.
