   We had a 7pm reservation and arrived about 10 mins early and had to wait to even check-in with the host, the waiting area was packed. After finally getting to the host to check-in we were told that even with a reservation our wait time would be about ONE HOUR! The people in the waiting area had 6pm reservations and were waiting for their table! The host blamed the overbooking on OpenTable and the central call line for Benihana - apparently they let anyone book a table regardless of how many tables are available. This was extremely frustrating as we were there to celebrate a birthday and no other options were available around there that wouldn’t also require an hour wait (without a reservation). When we did finally get seated an hour later the service was good and the chef was very entertaining. But, we probably wouldn’t go back again to celebrate anything bc the wait time with a reservation is not reasonable. And, after reading other reviews it seems like it’s a common issue.

   It has been a birthday tradition for me to have my birthday dinner here. They have made changes to how they do things that were disappointing. I do not blame management or staff of the location as it was noticeably clear these were changes forced upon them by the corporation. What corporate fails to realize is doing the small things is what makes coming here special, The portion size shrunk very much down as the number of vegetables was cut back big time. Adding a $2 charge if you wanted teriyaki took away the taste of the food. Making chicken fried rice an additional seven dollars and then there was no chicken in my rice. It used to be that I never ever finished my dinner, and I had plenty to take home. Due to the cut backs in portion size, I finished every bite of my meal something I had never done before in all the time I have been coming. I understand the cost of business is rising and some changes need to be made but the people who own this company should have done some kind of market research before making these kinds of changes. They are going to put themselves out of business with poorly thought out moves like these

   Our chef Shane was amazing! What a great experience, food was phenomenal, he was super interactive and really great and engaging with the little girl we had at our table. I plan to request him every time we’re there. And our waitress Chelsea was great as well, super attentive and kind and funny! Love them both!

   We had a reservation for 6:30, Sunday. When we arrived at 6:35, we were told it would be a 35 minute wait for our table. Once we were seated, we waited another 45 minutes before our chef came to the table. They were clearly understaffed but trying to accommodate an overbooked restaurant. Our chef seemed too tired to put on the level of showmanship we have received in the past. We overheard another chef say he was leaving at 8 although he had been scheduled to leave at 3. There was a new manager who seemed to be trying to right the ship. Hopefully our next visit will be better.

   Had reservations at 6:15 didn’t get seated until 7:30pm. The cook was friendly but not engaging like they normally are with all their cool tricks and interacting with the guests

   Our reservation was at 830, we were not sat till after 910. Once sat we got drinks and waited another 30+ minutes for a waitress and cook. We were told multiple times they were short staffed, computer issues, not enough tables and more. We were very polite about all of this even though we were celebrating a birthday. During the meal one of the main items was missed divided and had to be remade ( Rocky’s choice and chicken was skipped) we were informed that only sherbert and green tea were available and yet we were still accepting and understanding, but at the end of the meal I tried to use my $30 birthday coupon on my $141 meal and was denied…because it’s Friday. No way I was put through all of that and still they refused to accommodate us in any way and it ruined my birthday which had already been terribly and I was literally taking myself out and they couldn’t help us at all. I almost don’t want to ever come back and my family and I have been coming to Benihanas for years.

    We had a 7:30 reservation and was told they were running an hour behind. We were told that it’s typical for them to overbook the restaurant now because corporate wants to show higher numbers. Not good!
