Beautiful location and excellent food, the dinning area is smaller so if there is a crowd it can be noisy.
Upon arriving we were told no reservations were being honored?
Even though I had an open table confirmation…bad start
Had to speak to management
Despite large dining area there was literally only one other family dining there…
Food was average to below average
Especially for price
Won’t b coming back
Great food. Great service. Foster on valet was outstanding. Very professional, warm and kind.
Not what I was expecting from a Forbes 5 star hotel. We requested a specific table in a quiet area and it was still being cleared. We assumed they would dress the table first then seat us. However, instead of clearing the table and resetting it, they seated us at it undressed, and it took about 15 minutes for them to bring anything to dress the table. They forgot to bring the bread. They forgot to bring my wine. They forgot my side dish. The bottle of sparkling water was not chilled, and they never refilled our glasses or asked if we wanted more when it was empty. The duck was rare instead of medium rare. The server was non-existent. And they weren't very busy as we were seated at 6:30 on a Wednesday night. Disappointing.
Absolutely loved it
There was no ambiance of Christmas AT ALL. No candles on tables, etc. It felt like we were in a Marriott hotel lobby restaurant. The service was horrible and the food was literally inedible. The bartenders (who were the managers of the hotel) had no idea how to mix any drinks. The service at this hotel has been going downhill for years and we will never return.
Juan the manager made our experience amazing. Would give a 10/10
Beautiful Christmas Eve lunch! Highly recommend the sliders.
Several orders were not correct, including the entree of the day.
The restaurant missed its mark, food good, service mediocre. Not sure it the problem was the waitstaff or kitchen, but suspect the former.
Ambience was amazing as well as the food!
Outstanding experience- beautiful setting with plenty of room between tables so noise level was very low. Food and service were both exceptional. Highly recommended.
Beautiful location, good service, but food was just ok and certainly not worth the price. We were married there 28 years ago, so hoped to relive the magic - we were disappointed.
Actually our entree and veggies were rather bland and uninspired. I guess the mark up on cauliflower makes it a "go to" these days, but in this case not an interesting addition to the scallops. The scallops were cooked well, but nothing memorable. The memorable part of my meal was dessert, that lemon yuzu option is creative, fun, and delicious.
Lovely hotel and beautiful restaurant. The view was spectacular and the food was delicious. Overall excellent choice for dinner - we ate here 2 nights in a row.
My friend and I got together at El Encanto for dinner and drinks and did not have the best experience. I won’t go into all the details but the long and short of it is: the music was way too loud, the staff was judgmental and unfriendly, the dining area was, as always, beautiful as ever, and the food & drinks were enjoyable. From the moment we walked in, we were treated
We were celebrating our wedding and the service was wonderful!! We had the best mussels we have ever eaten - everything was truly amazing!
Joey is very kind, thoughtful, and is always attentive to your eating and drinking desires. Joey is the best of the best!
Great atmosphere, super classy, amazing patio views. Food was amazing all around. Asked for a change in prep for main course and it was no problem at all. Was expecting sticker shock but was reasonable cost. This is a MUST GO restaurant for santa barbara area.
Always a pleasure dining on the patio at the Belmond! Lovely day brunch with the ladies celebrating a monumental birthday.
This was our first time at El Encanto. We received a gift card from our Real Estate agent. Your service was excellent, as was your wait staff Alex was great. We enjoyed the view from our great table. Loved the dessert!! The low point of the visit was when we tried to use the $150.00 gift card. We were told your “ machine “ was down and they just charged our card.
Incredible meal, incredible service. New favorite spot!
Although the menu is limited, there are some great choices and everything was perfectly executed. The setting is gorgeous (we ate on the patio). The service was excellent across the board with the standout being our main server Kelly. Seafood was very fresh and the locally sourced ice cream and sorbet were delicious.
Wonderful experience and the food was amazing. Definitely will be back, so happy to have discovered this gem.
As a neighbor of El Encanto I have been enjoying lunch with friends on the terrace for very many years. This time everything was better: the new menu, the prompt and very professional service, the presentation of the food, even the ambiance - despite some noise from a group of ten people. Very forgivable, good to see people having fun!
I have dined here many times over the years. The location and views make this a truly extraordinary setting for what should be an exceptional dining experience. Unfortunately, as much as our server was kind, extremely polite and well intentioned he had no experience. I ordered a bottle of French Champagne which he brought out completely warm. When we suggested that he get some help from the manager or wine director he came back and told us that all the champagne was the same temperature. Then we were served wine glasses with ice cubes in them to cool the champagne ! The poor young gentleman seemed to have no help or proper training that should be requisite for a place like this.
I am supposing that the paucity of people wanting to work is a source of the problem but, in the end, it will hurt the business.
Excellent food and service. It was evening so couldn't' really see out, but I'm sure the view is incredible.
Superb in every way- Bravo!
Lisa was our server. Really good service over and above! Will be back for sure!
Great setting, great food, exceptional service. Highly recommend.
We sat outside on the terrace where we had a spectacular view of the ocean and the sunset. The
appetizers and entrees were superb. I even got freshly baked gluten free bread upon request. The desert, the Lemon Goleta was unique and delicious.
The service was excellent. It was a most memorable and delightful evening in a beautiful spot.
The location and atmosphere are first class. The service was quirky. Arrived 4 minutes ahead of schedule. They would not seat me until the exact time of my reservation in spite of many open tables. Gave us breakfast menus even though they had stopped serving breakfast 30 minutes earlier. After they replaced those with lunch menus everything went well. Service was excellent.
I ordered fish and chips. Reasonable but not outstanding quality. Served in a metal basket about 10 inches tall. Could not use a knife and fork. Awkward. Had to eat with my fingers. No salad or Cole slaw etc. Not better or worse than other restaurants. Extremely expensive for what it was.
Wonderful birthday celebration at sunset wile dining outside. Excellent service
For years we've given this restaurant an opportunity. Over those years it has gotten better but still has room to grow. It may be a case of resting on their laurels because they do have one of the nicest view decks in Santa Barbara. The food has improved, particularly at dinner. We recommend the Mary's Chicken with mushrooms and chicken stock plus two sides (the sides are generous portions - we particularly enjoyed the Riviera gratin (essentially ratatouille) and the Brussel sprouts). Service is not up to par for what is aiming to be a luxury restaurant (had to ask several times for items to be brought to the table, oysters served without a spoon for the mignonette which was too heavy on the vinegar anyway, etc...). We've brunched there also and again, stunning views but even brunch service wasn't great. All in all, it is a good but not great experience.
Went for our wedding anniversary and everything was wonderful! Come hungry for brunch as it is a fixed 5 course meal.
The only reason why I am giving a rating of four stars is because the restaurant did not contact us soon enough to let us know that the dining hours had changed. We were driving from San Francisco to Santa Barbara then meeting with a friend for lunch. We timed it perfectly although when we checked into the dining room, the maître d’ said that our reservations were changed to 12 noon. It was an 11:30a reservation prior to the new hours for lunch. We had to literally wait for half an hour in the bar before the hostess seated us even though the restaurant was quite empty. I would think that they could have seated us and offered us to order an appetizer and drinks while waiting. We did not want to do brunch. Unfortunately, this was not the impression I wanted to make with my friend.
I checked my emails and found out that the restaurant did send me a notification, but at 11:58am on the same day of my reservation at 11:30am. Not acceptable or professional. Unfortunately, it was a time intensive meeting so a mere half an hour made a huge difference. Next time I will physically call the restaurant prior to going to assure everything’s on schedule. I may suggest you do the same.
Beautiful scenery, wonderful service, and wonderful view of Santa Barbers!!!
Highly recommend it!
Peter was the best!
We had a lovely Anniversary dinner on the outside patio. The service was incredible with all staff using our names and Nancy our head wait staff was attentive, yet not overbearing. The food was beautifully presented and very good. The one change I would have liked would be to have the skin on my black cod crispy vs. soft, but that is a personal preference. Overall we would definitely recommend and go for another special occasion.
You simply can’t go wrong dining at the Belmond El Encanto.
The service, food and views are outstanding and the views from the deck are great.
They have an extensive global wine list with a great variety - though the markup above retail was well above industry standard.
Definitely a situation where you get what you pay for.
The service here is impeccable. The dining area is romantic and classically elegant. Everything was delicious and as promised on the menu. Can’t wait to return!
