Gorgeous view of trees, hills and ocean sitting from SB hillside terrace dining. Delicious food and wine! Fantastic service! A must for special occasions!!!!
This is a return visit since December. They continue to "up' their game. Service was probably best of last 3 times and the food was quite good (especially the duck confit - was nice and crispy brown). Both main dishes served very hot like they should be and we look forward to our next visit.
What a wonderful experience celebrating our daughters 18 year old birthday. From the start to the end, nothing but impeccable service. The view from the dining area is one of the most stunning views I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Food fantastic and if you are looking for a getaway, stay at the Belmond.
We opted for an inside table overlooking the valley. Very romantic and beautiful ambiance inside the dining room. Our server Alicia was attentive, friendly and professional.
We got quite the spread consisting of the kanpachi, bone marrow, kobocha squash soup, prawn tagliatelle, pork chop, Brussel sprouts and mushrooms. Every single dish was substantial yet delicate and we enjoyed every bite.
The music from the piano player tricked into our room and set the mood just right. He played everything from classic mozart to the Star Wars theme song. Every note was on point , the same could be said for our evening. We will definitely be coming back.
I had dined at the El Encanto for breakfast and lunch previously, but had never dined for dinner. Overall it was a beautiful experience, however if you are looking for amazing vegan/vegetarian options, this wouldn't be my first choice. We ordered a vegan-friendly soup which was fantastic, but our entrees were simply okay. For the price, I didn't think it was a great value. The El Encanto is a beautiful place and staff is always friendly. I'm sure we will be back, but maybe not for dinner next time. For non-vegans I'm sure their menu offerings are exceptional.
Had dinner early on a Wednesday with my kids and their grandparents. Very nice The food was amazing. Saving up for my next dinner.
This was my first time at this restaurant. It is an expensive spot to eat so my expectation was that the service and food would be impeccable. The food was quite good, and worth coming back for, but the service was lack luster. One dish we ordered didn't even make it to the table. When we mentioned it, they said sorry and would bring it out no charge but we were finished with our meals. I am sure it is hard to get good servers in a town with so many restaurants, but I would expect the best coming to this establishment. I will go back and try again since the food and the views are fantastic.
We had a very nice dinner. The dining room is quiet, nicely lit and well decorated. Good food and fine service
Absolutely awful! Went for Restaurant Week. No choices on their menu and main dish was spaghetti. This had the same name as their $42 spaghetti on dinner menu but we were told the restaurant week one did not include truffles. There was absolutely nothing on this spaghetti besides cream and Parmesan. Totally bland and unattractive presentation with nothing else on the plate. Tiny portion. Came home hungry. Went to two other local restaurants for restaurant week and they each had three choices for each course and were totally delicious. Service slow and confusion over bill. We arrived at 5:10 pm and after a couple of requests received some bread to nibble on at 6 pm. Some of my party were just getting drink order taken. Shame on the 4 Seasons. They should not participate in Restaurant Week if they plan on short changing customers.
El Encanto is an amazing dining experience. Excellent food and service, all with a beautiful view overlooking the Santa Barbara coastline.
We experienced Santa Barbara Restaurant Week menu items...we each ordered different offerings on the fixed menu, & enjoyed beautifully presented & savory dishes.
Absolutely horrible service, especially at this price point and for a 5-star hotel. This isn’t our first visit but it will be our last. Many great alternatives for great food, great views and a few options with great service. I recommend Little Door and Tre Lune for starters (for amazing and great service). Looking forward to trying Miramar-for food and views. Also looking forward to San Ysidro Ranch rebuilding.
We went twice last week for the restaurant week menu. We enjoyed every dish. Nothing extravagant but cooked perfect, presented well, and with the exact portion size. We are happy they have more vegetarian options now. The only bummer is the corkage fee $40. I wish it was that price for weekends but half that week days. As locals we are happy to be back and want to support the new chef.
This restaurant is one of my favorites in Santa Barbara. It is located in the hills near the SB Mission and has the best view of the city and sea. There is an elegant inside dining room, but I prefer sitting alfresco on the lovely tiered terrace. Take someone special. Propose a toast and settle in for an unforgettable meal!
The service and food was not what I was hoping for. It took 45 minutes to get our order taken and it wasn’t even busy. We wanted to try out a new place since it was restaurant week and as soon as we asked for the restaurant week menu, the vibe changed. I got the chicken and it was over cooked and I found a long hair in my dessert. The only good thing I can say was that the view was spectacular.
food veg were cold. Hugh wait for each course. overall not happy
Great location, great service, great food! Is a little expensive, but great overall!
We had a wonderful time with a spectacular view, delicious food and warm staff. We look forward to returning soon!
The Kitchen missed a good execution of the meal and the service left to be desired.
We were celebrating our 40 year anniversary
The service was outstanding
Recommend the sashimi and the sea bass and dessert
Maybe would not repeat the rib eye
Jan 16, had a wonderful experience at the El Encanto for my birthday and goodby time for friends leaving town.
HOWEVER...I was very upset with the OPEN TABLE and/or EL Encanto Dining Room for the stupid,
stupid booking situation. My friends had an appointment and I asked for 6:15 or 6:30 dining reservations...
was told the only available seating was 5:45 or 8:30. EXCUSE ME!!! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?
We rearranged our appointments, showed up on time, had a lovely evening, BUT THERE WERE ONLY ABOUT 3 OTHER TABLES OCCUPIED DURING OUR 2 1/2 hrs. there on the patio, and probably 5 tables in the main dining room.
THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE, AND I WOULD BE ADAMANT IN TELLING OTHER PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF A BAD SEATING SITUATION! Sad, to pay for an elite experience and find this kind of stupidity!
We got to El Encanto 15 minutes early, so we walked through the pathways around the “Turtle Pond” and the Cottages back to the restaurant. Charming! Robin our server was a delight and the food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. First time there for my wife and now she’s thinking of reasons we should go back soon.
Average dinner. Service was very much lacking. Nice setting
I have definitely had bad and good food experiences here, but I think they have finally gotten their act together as the last two meals I had were very good. The service was wonderful, as always! And of course you cannot beat the aesthetic‘s
Awesome experience all around
Kelly was our server. I had left dietary restrictions thru a phone call and open table comment section. Even though they had a prix fix menu arranged for New Years Eve dinner they accommodated. We had a vegan and pescatarian. Jelly greeted us and within moments addressed the knowledge of our restrictions and from there they outperformed our expectations. Kelly was great and all the staff helping her. We eat here on regular days but this was our first New Years, we would consider it again for next year.
Everyone else was very attentive as well, the valet staff and the Host/Hostess stand. Great place to eat and on a normal day when the clear tenting isn’t up due to cold weather the view is outstanding.
Food was mediocre. Service was friendly. Live piano music and atmosphere in the cocktail area was very good. The remodel was well done--original atmosphere preserved, it is a beautiful place inside and out. I believe they are under new management so I would give them awhile to get the food figured out.
Loved the setting, atmosphere, and wonderful dinner, especially for celebrating our 40th Anniversary! The corkage fee of $45 was an expensive surprise. Otherwise, it was a great evening.
We celebrated our th 59th wedding anniversary at this spectacular location on the Riviera in Santa Barbara. The waitstaff went went out of their way to make us feel very special on this memorable occasion. The food, cocktails and wines were impeccable. We will defintely return!
Very pricey for Xmas dinner with mediocre food. Great setting
Probably not a fair review since we went on Christmas Eve. This was our first time at Belmond and we were very excited to try it. The place is fabulous -- understated elegance. The deck is gorgeous with a view of the city and the harbor. Unfortunately, service was amateurish and the food was mediocre. Two of us had the King Crab and we both got sick. Saying that, I think we will try it again after the holidays. Worst case, enjoy drinks and appetizer at the bar -- fantastic setting.
Amazing view & so romantic but poor service.
We have eaten here a number of times over the years and found this to be an improved experience. Most of the staff was friendly. The service is a bit too leisurely. The Chinese Chicken Salad was very enjoyable but could have been improved upon by serving bread. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the combination of Parmesan, asparagus and beets was nicely done. The iced tea seemed bitter, perhaps had been sitting a while. The dessert, a Brownie was more of a mundane chocolate cake and the hazelnut ice cream served with it was not dazzling. The ambience is to die for.
Excellent food, amazing service and not on your face!
The service was very slow and the portion size for the risotto was very small for a main dish.
The food was impeccable. Overall a beautiful experience, as always!
El Encanto is one of the definitive Santa Barbara experiences. Old world charm, unpretentious luxury, fantastic view, and unbelievably delicious food.
Don’t mistake my value rating to mean “inexpensive” unless you’re going for appetizers at happy hour. It’s much cheaper than flying to Italy though.
This visit was for brunch at our
We had the Grouper and the Halibut. They were both extraordinary and inventive! The room was beautiful and the view was incredible. A truly unique, romantic experience. We loved it!
Best service of anywhere I’ve ever stayed.
Always a rewarding experience. Excellent cuisine. Timely service by knowledgeable waiters. Ambiance perfect for special occasions. During warmer times of year the outdoor dining is perfect. I'll be back.
