Bella Vista at Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara
Just a wonderful dining room. Food is top notch and tasty. We love the overall facility location and the Bella Vista is one of our regular stops when we pass through Santa Barbara. Excellent service and presentation. Highly recommended.
Assortment of food was less than my first visit.
The hotel is absolutely stunning and views are great. The food was bland, cold, and took about an hour from arrival to get during the lunch hour, which wasn’t crowded. It was so bad we ended up giving up on the food and declining a remake (they did remake my crab Benedict anyway and it was at least warm... but somehow lacking).
Spare yourself the trouble and just go for some drinks and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Several issues: 1) had requested an outside table in my original reservation, but upon arrival was told there would be a 20-30 minute wait, as folks who hadn’t reserved an outside table were given priority on first-come, first-serve basis. 2) ordered wine pairing ($75 add on), but server neglected to bring wine with our second course - brought it after we finished the course. 3) my wife was served a different entree than she ordered, although that error was immediately corrected, and an apology given; however, the manager came out and said, “I understand you’re very upset about something” (which made us uncomfortable). 4) the dessert was supposed to feature a hot chocolate sauce to melt the ball-like cherry/chocolate cake, but the sauce wasn’t even warm, so the effect was lost. When we advised the server, she suggested we use more force to penetrate the cake, rather than providing a replacement. Overall, it wasn’t a great experience, especially at $200 per person. We normally love the Bella Vista for dinner, but they seemed overwhelmed by this special Valentines dinner event.
Valentine’s dinner. We wanted something special and the Biltmore performed magnificently
Go for breakfast or lunch. You still have the great view and servicer, at a fraction of the dinner price.
Great dinner for pre Valentines .. cold night but was given 2 heaters to accommodate and dinner was superb!
I'm comparing to how the brunch used to be in the 1980s where the food stations took up 3 rooms. All stations in one room now. The service was exceptional and the setting is amazing, but for $85 per person, the food selection was mediocre. Yes, there was oysters, crab, caviar and bottom glass of champagne, but beyond that, a taco bar? Meat carving station advertised beef wellington, but only offered prime rib, lamb, salmon and bacon slab. Dessert station was below par offering some flavorless custards and mini pecan bars.
Good scent in the restaurant.
Friendly and kind staffs
Nice view and beautiful interior
Delicious and fancy foods
We went to brunch here to celebrate our anniversary. The brunch is a little
Pricey but you do get alcohol and it’s a buffet. The food is excellent and so is the service! They even brought us a special dessert. Very classy. Love this hotel.
Beautiful setting, great service and terrible food.
My husband had the steak and I had the veal. Both were horrible and tasteless. Such a disappointment. I would recommend going for a cocktails only.
Great Anniversary Brunch Spot . We loved it .
My family has loved the Biltmore for 35 years. The restaurant was never the best in town but sitting on the patio made up for any shortcomings. However Saturday night it was terrible. How terrible? My lasagna was frozen in the middle. Not cold. Frozen. A restaurant that charges five star prices serves previously frozen food? That's outrageous. The ravioli that came with my wife's sea bass was uncooked. They recently got a new chef and I think they better get rid of him or her fast because just down the beach, the Rosewood Miramar has an excellent restaurant called Caruso's. We've been there several times and it has always been fantastic. I feel bad. I don't want to see the Biltmore go under but if the Four Seasons continues to mismanage the hotel, it may soon be put out of business by the Miramar.
Excellent brunch, stunning setting and professional service
Service was great! Food was fabtastic but hoping more
Selections based on the price.
Service was spotty at best. The menu was eclectic and quite limited in offerings. Neither the menu nor restaurant presented any 'theme' so while the environment was quite nice, it was hard to understand what the management was trying to promote.
Overall, for price, quality and service this was a restaurant which had no resemblance to the prestige of the hotel name and was more disappointing and surprising since there is apparently shared ownership and management with San Ysidro Ranch, which has an exceptionally fine restaurant.
The only aspect of the Four Seasons Biltmore experience which was memorable was the parking attendant whose service and courtesy were exceptional.
The buffet was decent. One thing I would like them to change is that most of the food was at chest/face level and had no sneeze guards. The deserts were limited to small bites and an ice cream sandwich stand.
So I would say 3 stars for the buffet quality and value.
But here’s why it was worth every penny...
My wife is pregnant and once we were seated in the main room she suffered a panic attack. It was severe and she needed to leave the space. I explained to the host stand what was happening and they immediately jumped into action. They set us up on a balcony, alone, with two big heaters, brought my wife blankets, and constantly checked on our needs. The staff absolutely put in 110% . We no longer had to leave, my wife was able to eat, relax, and enjoy her meal. Our stress melted away and our evening was saved.
Thank you again to the hosts, our waiters, and all the staff.
Everything was perfect except we felt pushed out after an hour and 30 minutes when there were open tables available
Wonderful, as always! Services was amazing, food was outstanding and plentiful! LOVED it.
This property is so beautiful. We really enjoyed our lunch. Food was good. Service was warm & attentive. Omar took great care of us. The view is stunning.
Great brunch. A must if you're really hungry and want to try everything you can imagine for a wonderful brunch. Service is excellent (friendly and professional), from being greeted, to seating, to immediate attention on the choice of drinks, and an explanation on what's on the "menu".
Service and delivery of food was slow.
Staff was friendly and helpful but they can’t make up for the disaster that is the kitchen. Also the restaurant had terrible acoustics. It was only half full and my SO and I could barely hear each other talk. I can’t even imagine how loud it would be if the place was full. I recommend you go somewhere else, you can get far better food for a better price elsewhere!
This is the best Thanksgiving Day buffet I have ever seen. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and professional and the buffet never looked picked over. It was pricey but with the array of foods, not really out of line.
Bulmaro and Omar were THE BEST! Ava was also awesome! thank you for having us!!!
We normally love the Bella Vista but this experience was disappointing. We were there for Thanksgiving and as usual the food and variety of the buffet was outstanding. However, when we arrived it seemed as if they had overbooked and tried to seat us in a back banquet room that was not part of the restaurant and actually across and down the hall from the buffet. We had made the reservation several weeks in advance and declined this seating so we waited for a table. The staff was uncharacteristically disinterested. Really the thing that was most disappointing was the value. The restaurant is part of the Four Seasons so we expected to pay top dollar, but found out that our $145 per head price tag did not include any alcoholic beverages, even champagne which is pretty standard. Given the extremely high price of drinks our Thanksgiving for four came in at almost a thousand dollars with tip - very few meals could possibly be worth that kind of money, particularly a self-serve buffet with kids running around. As much as we enjoy the food and variety, the price just isn't worth it.
Well, MAYBE would recommend. The hotel grounds are beautiful, and a non-holiday meal would be more relaxing, less crowded, and allow for enjoying the views more. But it's overpriced any way one looks at it.
Thanksgiving buffet offered a lot of good, unique food, and it is something different to do for the holiday, but it's not worth $145 /person. (you don't even get a glass of champagne!)
And odd ending: they had waitstaff close out your bill at your table (using handheld credit machines) . Makes sense for such a busy dining day but the waiter specifically asks what amount of tip you want to leave them, and they enter it while standing over you. That is an uncomfortable /awkward way to end the dining experience.
There are other really nice restaurants in SB that we'd try for Thanksgiving before going back to Biltmore.
Always exceptional service, delicious options & beautiful atmosphere. Not too formal and very welcoming staff! We love it here!
Our brunch at Bella Vista could not have been any lovelier. Perfect food, weather and service. A gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean which included the Channel Islands. There were many varied food options presented on the menu, and the Bellini’s were perfect, as were the various coffee drinks we ordered. As we were leaving, some ladies were coming in for afternoon tea - we will be coming back to try that soon.
Saturday morning brunch. Amazing assortment of delicious food. Bottomless mimosas. Gorgeous view of the ocean. Worth the splurge.
Very special evening, we were given very special attention;
we were celebrating our grandson’s moving home to SB
with a new job, they presented him with a complimentary
dessert with “Congratulations on your new job” written in
chocolate on the plate...this was very special for this young attorney who has celebrated so many special occasions at
the Biltmore most of his life! Well Done!!
Great place for a special occasion. Food and service plus ambience all in a class by themselves
Great food, great atmosphere, perfect patio weather- one of the best Sunday brunches in the country!
Ate outdoors on the spectacular ocean view terrace for a Sunday brunch. Nearly everyone was enjoying a magnificent brunch buffet. But we did not want to eat that heavy of a meal so we ordered off the menu. The avocado toast was average to subpar, covered in pickles?? When the menu talked about lime marinated cucumber. My husbands American breakfast was good. Again loved the view, the ambience and the service..... but the food was disappointing.
We 6 girls reserved for a party. We asked two coffee but no drinks. When I told him we were ready to order, the waiter was cold and werid. I didn't know if he heard as no reaction so I had to repeat and still he was quite kind of "okay". When we shared the bill, he totally showed "OMG" face when taking the cards. And the bill came with a survey card, but all service items already checked to highest score. Very disappointing service at this kind of classic dinning place.
First night of dinner on our honeymoon. My wife loved it more than anything, and that’s all I ever want!
Beautiful room and wonderful experience. The food was delicious. Definitely a special place.
Always a superior experience!
We are regulars at the Biltmore...usually Saturday night date...also mid week for lunch on occasion...we bring visitors here when they are in town frequently...always a
wonderful experience....NOT THIS TIME!!!
We used a TravelZoo voucher & it was a complete turnaround....we were unable to be seated where we ALWAYS are seated on the patio...we waited 5-10 mins for
a table close to a window, it was in the corner & quite nice,
however we were seated there & basically FORGOTTEN,
no coffee refills, no checking on food, NOTHING until he brought the check with a big smile...the check included a 20% tip of $22.70 which was NOT DESERVED!!! My husband
?ed the tip, server said it was clearly on TravelZoo voucher!
My husband then brought this injustice to the attention of the front desk, received an apology & another TravelZoo
explanation!!! We have been regular Biltmore patrons for over 45 years...never receiving anything less than spectacular service in the restaurant & wonderful visits staying at the hotel!!! We are convinced the server (which was unfamiliar to us) assumed he was going to receive this tip whether he deserved it or not!!! My husband always leaves a 25-30% tip at the Biltmore...we are recognized as
regulars there & have always considered it one of our favorite SB places...we live locally & it is almost a 2nd home.
If offering TravelZoo vouchers to get tourists to come is the object...you might want to consider what losing your regulars will be costing you!!!
