I had dinner with a friend, and it was lovely. We enjoyed the beach at sunset, and then came in to watch the final rays disappear. The deck was warm and cheery, enclosed with clear plastic so we could see the sunset, and the Christmas tree they have posted outside.
The Beachcomber wasn't too busy, even on a Friday night, and service was extremely quick. The food was great as usual, as were the cocktails.
We'll be back. Definitely a lovely spot on a brisk winter's late afternoon and early evening.
Arrived just at sunset and were treated to an amazing view as the sun set over the Pacific. What a treat as we enjoyed appetizers and wine. The food was excellent, all properly prepared and elegantly served. Waiter was attentive and helpful.
One of my favorite spots always a great meal always a great view a definite must stop in Southern California.
We had a wonderful breakfast here. The bigneits were fun to share. Then we also shared a dish with eggs on polenta that was delicious. Excellent service by Al and crew. The hostess was also very nice. She even took our picture by the Christmas tree in the beach. Not many places where one can have breakfast on the beach!
The view is perfect. Friendly, helpful service, food was fresh. I have been there many times and will return as often as possible. Its a "feet in the sand" kind of place.
A must stop if in the area, one of the few originals left.
Great service, good clientele.
A favorite place!!
I love going to the Beachcomber for breakfast on a cold winter morning. I must confess that I preferred the ambiance on the patio more in the old days, when you actually felt the cold wind coming off yet water. But I’m sure most visitors appreciate the wind-protection and heaters.
Best beneighs (sp) ever or why breakfast is my favorite meal here.
We have been to the beachcomber a few times and it's always great. You would think with its location it would be touristy kind of food. BUT NO... This place is as gourmet as it gets... The short ribs are sooo delicious. Make plans to eat here and you won't be disappointed. We had Jimmy as our sever this time and he was flat out awesome... oh and don't get me started on the view... you would be hard pressed to find a better view..
Simply no place like it. Think Wes Anderson meets Hardy Boys meets Pacific Ocean. My favorite place on earth.
My 1st time, and have already highly recommended it! I will be back
One of the greatest spot in Southern California (beach restaurant in a historic cottage, who else ??), and the food is very good. You may want to keep some room for dessert. It's very recommended to book in advance or you may wait for a couple hours in the peak season.
Epic fail - Horrible service, disappointing food and super loud. My husband made an Open Table reservation for the Beachcomber for my birthday celebration - despite the spectacular location - it was an epic fail due to the almost nonexistent service. First, we had to reserve a very late dinner, not the sunset time I wanted. Then, when we arrived, the hostess was AWOL so we had to go looking for someone to seat us - although my husband had told them it was a birthday celebration - no one bothered to tell our server. When our server did arrive after another long wait - he did not tell us the specials and ignored us for most of the evening. In the past, I had great service at this restaurant so it was really shocking when my birthday was ruined by a MIA waiter. At the end of the evening, we had to go hunt down the waiter to get our check - something we should not have to do at a fine restaurant. As we were leaving, my husband slipped on the wet floor and almost fell! Horrible evening, huge disappointment!
It was great
My favorite place! Great food, stunning views, always a great time! You can’t beat this place! I will be back again soon!
Just a great time with friends having breakfast on the sand with friends
What a find! Delicious food and a fabulous sunset spot!
Celebrated a birthday!
Our server was very nice, attentive and efficient!
Joyful luncheon on the beach. Always a great time.
I really enjoy meeting friends for brunch at this restaurant. Always good service and good food.
Had a wonderful lunch and stayed in the Cottages and then had a spectacular breakfast....everything was great.
The best, right on beach.suggest reservations. Can be crowded.
Our first time there, loved the view, food and drinks were yummy! Can't wait to go back.
I wish that our server was not switched in the middle of our meal.
The noise of the plastic "entrance door" is annoying, especially since we were sitting right there.
The food & drink was superb!
Soups were delicious, short ribs and roasted chicken were delectable, beignets and bread pudding were very satisfying. Only suggestion is to bring back the butter cake.
Always a joy to come to Crystal Cove's Beachcomber Café. Love being served by Ryan the past few times - a real pro.
One of my favorite location!! I spent this specific night there for my birthday. I had the ribeye special which was amazing!! I will keep coming back!
Never fails to live up to my expectations. Great service and you can’t beat the ambiance.
Ambience is excellent, food savory, martini over the top. Highly recommended!
We were there in the middle of a huge rain downpour but it only added to the ambiance and the live music! Food was delish and service outstanding!
Our first time for exploration. Weren't hungry. Great, friendly. Knowledgeable waiter and service. Excellent appetizers that were suggested and hit the spot.
Can't beat the location!! Food is good but you are there because of where it's at/
Lunch with Mom
My 70th Birthday with my BFFs! Ambience of course is incomparable! Food was mediocre! I has scallops wrapped in bacon with black rice! Bacon was raw! Rice was uncooked! Scallops were just right! I would just stick to breakfast cuz it’s better! Beignets are the best!
This is our favorite place to celebrate Birthdays or special occasions -- Definitely the best ocean view restaurant, excellent food and wine and unbelievable ambiance!
Celebrated wife's birthday and attempted to make reservations for 4, but only reservation seating for 2 available. Staff called day in advance and I again requested to change seating from 2 to 4 but informed that no additional seating was currently available, and that we (along with any additional guests) would just need to arrive an hour earlier for walk-in. We did not invite additional guests only to be seated at a 4 top table along with the vast majority of 2 person diners also seated at 4 top tables. Although not that busy for Sat evening, service was slow and food was only moderate for prices charged.
