The view doesn't get any better than this! The restaurant is right on the beach, and we watched the gorgeous waves, complete with dolphins!!!!
The food is delicious; fresh ingredients, creative dishes. My sister said that the Corn Maiden meal was the best breakfast she ever ate, and my macadamia nut pancakes were wonderful.
Note that the restaurant will validate parking, but there is a fee (both directions!!) for the very short shuttle ride (for 4 of us, it was nearly as expensive as the $15 parking fee). We took the shuttle because my sister uses a walker--but honestly it's better to drop off people who cannot walk the 1/2 mile nd then walk down from the parking lot.
Had 3 birthdays and 3 graduations. All 6 of us really enjoyed our breakfast their and the view is phenomenal. I plan on going back for sure.
Thank you for the great service.
Worth the wait. Lovely place, views are beautiful. Food is good. Service was great!
Awesome Romantic experience
Everytime we visit is a new experience
Staff and food is amazing
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere as always. Who could not like being eating on the beach with the surf within 100 feet.
Excellent food - the crab stack is amazing. Superior service.
Entertaining family from UK
Right on the beach so your experience will be weather dependent. The food was exceptional. Note you have to walk down a dirt road and no parking at the restaurant. You have to park across the highway and either take a shuttle or walk about 1/4 mile down hill. We are active 50+ and had no trouble with the walk. Very casual beach attire. Ocean sounds are abundant with light lively music in the background. Bar area around the back of the restaurant away from the beach. Staff was friendly. Would definitely return. Not very big so large parties will find it a challenge to be accommodated. Reservations recommended due to size.
Just super! From Colorado, our 11th or 12th time...lost my KEEN brown Sandler was the only bummer...all else terrific
We were a large group and we got there early at 7:30am to get a table as there were 7 of us and the reservation on Open Table only allowed for 6 max. We were the first customers and were seated right away at one of the corners with a perfect view of the water. It was also good that we were off to the corner as our group tend to crack a lot of jokes and we laughed constantly so we would not disturb other customers.
The food was really tasty and fresh. Our waiter was attentive even though they got quite busy soon after we were seated. Best part was it was the day after the rain so it was a most beautiful and perfect day on the beach. Major bonus for an Oct morn. Couldnt ask for a better breakfast experience!!
Our table was ready when we arrived and we received a friendly welcome. There was plenty of staff to take our order, deliver food and clear the table. Plus they validated our parking!
Beachcomber Cafe is a treat on the beach. Ambience and friendliness are its strengths. The food so-so.
I'd go again in a heartbeat for the location and ambience.
You can't get any closer to waterfront than this place. Its historic and the best afternoon ever.
This is my favorite restaurant on the entire So Cal coast. You can't get any closer to the sand and surf, and the food is fantastic. We came here for lunch to celebrate my birthday and mum visiting from England, and it was perfect. We booked ahead and it was a weekday and still full! So popular...but deservedly so. The walk to the restaurant (or you can shuttle) is a fun part of the experience.
We had Jimmy as our server and he was fantastic, he made the whole experience unbelievable. Good luck in your upcoming endeavors
My boyfriend and I love coming here for their Crab Cake Benedict and beignets! We made a reservation through opentable at noon for his birthday, drove an hour to get there and we were so excited to have their breakfast only to find out that breakfast ended at 11:30. Hours were not readily posted on their website and there is not a direct line to the restaurant so even if you wanted to call and ask for hours you couldn’t get them. Safe to say we were intensely disappointed. We will go back again because the food is amazing and the service is nice but there is lacking in communication to the public that needs some serious updating.
Enjoy the Beachcomber every time we go there. Great food, great location, and very peaceful with the water as the backdrop.
I can't believe I've been in California my entire life and had no idea such a wonderful, magical, lively, delicious place existed! We will be back again, and again, and again, and....
Wonderful - as usual!
Our party of 4 became a party of 7 at the last minutes and Beachcomber staff were very accommodating.
Food was good. My brother from Alaska commented "I could get used to this".
I had the avacado on toast and it was good not amazing . The portion size was good. The good was good . The service was amazing.
We went very early on a Sunday morning and it was very quiet and lovely. Our server, Jamie, was pleasant and attentive. We had a miscommunication, it would seem, about an omelette on the menu. Really, the menu description was to blame ... apparently the chef prepares it as an "open face omelette" (per Jamie) but it's actually a fritatta. My husband does not like fritattas ... he sent the first one back, which Jamie did very pleasantly, but when it came back the second time the same way he opted just to share my (very delicious) salmon benedict instead. Will know next time to steer clear of their "omelettes". The beignet were to die for!!
The Beachcomber is a one-of-a-kind restaurant that is so fun! Right on the beach in Crystal Cove, you couldn't ask for a better location. Make sure you learn about the history of the Martini flag so you know why they raise it!
To start, the food was amazing. My wife had the Chefs special, Chilean Sea Bass, that was cooked to perfection. I had the Frutti di Mare that had a combination of shrimp, scallops and mahi mahi that was simply delicious. My two teens had Lobster linguini pasta that was tender and had a lobster bisque sauce to rave about. We closed our meal with the beignets that were warm, soft, and sprinkled with confectioners sugar with a chocolate sauce on the side. The food was fantastic but our waiter, Ryan, made the experience so much better. He was attentive, didn't have to write our order, he just memorized what we ordered even after a few add on side dishes. He made sure our drinks were full and that we were satisfied. He is truly a valuable asset to this establishment as he made us feel welcomed.
Had to make a reservation a month ahead of time for 12 noon sat reservation for 4. It was worth the wait for the location alone. Had the shrimp tacos and salmon entrees. Very good. Packed with shrimp. The cheese they put on top though she be left off to the side. Service was very good. Would definitely go back.
Food was awesome, as usual! We completely enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Great setting and ambience as well. Service was also outstanding.
The Beachcomber, is of course, a fun and different restaurant in an amazing setting. Being a local I’ve been several times over the years. While the food is good I think it’s become too expensive. I do like being able to make a reservation.
Beautiful spot. Great food. Note: you need to park in State Park parking lot east of PCH and take shuttle or walk down beach access path to restaurant. Arrive 15 minutes before reservation time.
Has always been outstanding before. This time foo was mediocre.
Delicious lunch, charming waiter, beautiful setting. Perfection!
Absolutely the favorite place to celebrate Breakfast on our Birthdays!
Great food, great service and FABULOUS view!!
Amazing setting that you cannot get anywhere else in oc. The service was great with everyone smiling and willing to make your visit a good own. The food was very good and there was a great selection to choose from. Very pleased with Beachcomber!
Have gone there many times food is usually always good problem is you should have reservations if you can get them if not just hang out till you get a spot
Food was excellent, but pricey. Service was slow, and noise level was ok.
Great location on the beach, with good food and service. A walk on the beach after a meal there makes one feel like you’re taking a mini vacation.
The hostess area is oddly located on the sand. One walks through the patio, down wooden stairs, only to walk up the same stairs to be seated. The wait staff, sound of crashing waves and chef make it all worthwhile.
Love the whole beach view and our waiter was the best.
The location with the sunset view perfectly fit the fresh and varied menu. Our waiter Jimmy made terrific suggestions, focusing on the fresh fish available that evening. It has a casual feel and appearance, but offers the gourmet touches to compete with some of the best restaurants in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. They do not charge extra for the extraordinary sunset views.
You can’t beat the location and the food was very good! We had a great time!
