It was somewhat of a fixed menu, being a holiday. Beignets were plentiful and delicious. We ordered lobster mac, a little spicy. Also had veggie fritatta, which was a generous size and very cheesy. Always excellent service and a great location/view!
Hi, Everything was great, park across the street, shuttle is 1.50 each way if you don't want to walk across PCH. or pay 5.00 I think. Rest validates. Food was great on Easter special menu and its right on the Ocean, prefect view, outside patio. make reservation if you know ahead. Cottages near by you can rent. beautiful and great food and service!
Always a great time here. The views are fabulous and the service is outstanding. Never disappoints whether having a meal or stopping in for a drink.
Out of town guests
This is one of my favorite places! Great location on the sand. We arrived 30 minutes late due to traffic and they still got us in within 10 minutes (there was a 30 minute wait at the time.) Food was excellent as always. The crab stack was superb. Enjoyed my salad of greens with apples and dates. Floor was a bit dirty and the plastic curtains were pulled which made it really stuffy. When I asked to have the curtains cracked the waitress said, "oh I will have to check" but didn't follow up. But no big deal; I cracked them myself! Will go back again and again.
Great location, friendly staff, good choice of food. Great place to go to enjoy some quality time with friends and family.
The only negative aspect about my experience is that a few construction tractors were going by and I noticed sand flying around and on my food.
Our first visit here. Took the day off to celebrate 20yr wedding anniversary. Great bar area. Nice drink menu and xlnt cocktails. Food was good. However, fig & apple salad had NO apples & possibly 3 very small chunks of dried figs. As these aren't particularly expensive ingredients, a disappointment. More so was that I'd noted our rather special event when reserving the table. Not even a candle in the dessert we ordered?! Felt even worse when I saw ice cream w candle being delivered to several tables nearby. Unlike a birthday, no chance to try that day again. My husband won't likely be alive for the 40 yr anniversary. We arrived early, to have cocktails, and yet to be seated was nearly a half hour delay beyond reservation time. Our table neighbors actually commented to us that our table had sat empty for about 30 minutes. The 4 stars given is for the unique location & sweet waitress we had, Kennedy, very cute & earnest.
Great service! The food was fantastic and you cannot beat the view!
This is where my husband and I take guests. It doesn’t matter if it’s their first time or fifth everyone loves it. From the hostess to the wait staff everyone is so welcoming! The variety of foods and the presentation as well as the taste is awesome! Amber was our waitress and she was as attentive from her approach to even after our check was presented. It’s southern CA sweet spot and a must! If you want to sit down right away I’d make a reservation.
We were married here at Crystal Cove with our wedding dinner at Beachcomber.its
The unique atmosphere and wonderful food make this one of our absolute favorite places. There was literally not one thing to even offer a suggestion on during this visit. The service was very friendly, casual, but attentive. We had the grilled artichokes, halibut special, short rib and bread pudding. Everything was delicious! I always enjoy a yummy cocktail to start, then enjoy a glass of wine from the nice selection of wine by the glass. You can bet we'll be back soon!
Second visit as we were in CA visiting from the East Coast. It was as good as our first visit. Only wish we would had dinner vs lunch, but that was the only reservation we could get. Lunch was outstanding and were there to see the raising of the flag at Five PM, which everyone needs to see. Beachcombers is a hidden gem that folks in In the Anaheim area know about and keep it to them self. My only regret is that i live on the East Coast and I only get there every couple of years. This gem is a 5 Plus.
Great place but I do recomend you make a teservation like we did for the restuarant gets very busy.
Overall it was very good. Pleasant and comfortable seating with a gorgeous view. Waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. Food was presently beautifully and tasted delicious . I didn't think paying $10 for a mimosa in a small champagne flute was justified.
I'm still not sure how I managed to find a reservation for a Sunday, mid-morning, only hours before the reserved time, but I'm so glad I did! We were a few minutes late for our reservation, but were seated immediately (despite the 30 minute wait for both inside and outside seating) and had a perfect ocean view. Staff was kind and attentive the entire time, even with the busy restaurant, and our food was so good! Obviously, 10/10 on the beignets, but their chilaquiles knocked it outta the park too! And don't even get me started on their bloody marys, I'm already planning another trip for one.
Went to celebrate my daughters 23rd birthday. We ordered grilled artichokes, calamari, ahi spring rolls for appetizer. I had the pork dish, two persons ordered the scallops, NY steak and someone ordered the fish special. Withe the exception of the fish dish, we all would order the same again. Special mention to the scallop entree its delicious.
Great old school place!
Great cafe on the beach. We walked rather than taking the shuttle from the parking lot. A beautiful walk. The ocean view was great from the patio. We had breakfast and weren't disappointed. Great food and service. Reservations a must.
We loved it
Our waiter was so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We went for breakfast and it appeared that the menu had some nice choices . Unfortunately the food was underwhelming to say the lrasyd with actually little flavor at all. Very disappointed in the food, the setting however is picturesque. If I ever go back to the Beachcomber I would have a cocktail in the bar and enjoy the view, I would not go back for a meal.
Excellent food & service while overlooking the ocean!
Great food! Oscar our server is always awesome. Beautiful atmosphere.
Brunch is much better than lunch
Fantastic birthday dinner for our 18 year old son
One thing to know before coming here is that you will park across PCH and take a shuttle 1.50 per head to the restaurant so add in a few extra minutes for that.
Our experience was pure fun and delicious food from beginning to end. The sweet hostess gave us the front table with a perfect view of sand and ocean when she found out it was our sons birthday, but really all the tables on the patio are ocean and sunset view.
Our waiter Ryan was fun and engaging , knowledgable about the menu and so personable and funny he made the experience a 10 out of 10.
The chef is great. We started with crab stack in a delish ginger sauce , highly recommend and clam chowder, which is very, very rich so be careful. Salad was a wedge with really unique dressing (traditional blue cheese but tasted like maybe had cumin in it?) so yum.
Entrees- Ryan recommended short rib and I was not disappointed, was so good with blue cheese ravioli, husband had seared yellow fin, sones had fruiti da marre (pasta dish, really good sauce) and birthday son had crab stuffed salmon with a beautiful spice crust on the outside , everyone was happy with their entree.
Got to watch a beautiful sunset and enjoyed the raising of the cocktail flag tradition , just a really fun night all around with great food , highly recommend this restaurant .
Lovely- the polenta with poached eggs was delightful.
Always try to bring out of town visitors here - best on-the-beach breakfast food and venue in So Cal!
Good ambiance but way too loud and close quarters to have a conversation. I could overhear the guests conversation better than I could have a conversation with my husband.
This has become a Go-to for us since moving to Newport last July. I've tried many dishes, & always come back to the shrimp tacos...delicious! The mahi mahi tacos, salmon & mini ahi tacos are also very good 😊 Food is fresh & chock full of flavor. The immediate proximity to the beach & ocean is part of the ambiance. Cocktails are delightful. Our waiter on Sunday, Maximilian, was attentive & informative & recommended a cocktail that wasn't even on the menu, but has been served there for many years. We will continue to visit Crystal Cove & eat at the BeachComber!
Birthday breakfast. Chilaquiles were amazing. Beignets were terrific and the view was first class. Will be back.
We have loved coming to the Beachcomber for years.
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner always excellent.
We loved the beautiful setting on the beach. The food was wonderful. The information on the website and Open Table did not explain that lunch did not start until 11:30 so we had an 11:15 reservation and would have had to be reseated to have lunch. Breakfast was good but had already had breakfast earlier.
Love Love!! Oscar was a fantastic server!! The beach is my happy place!! Wonderful breakfast celebrating my friend!! Loved the brioche French toast they brought for her birthday!!! Best ambiance in Newport!!!
I made a reservation for a busy Saturday morning and we were seated on the beautiful outside deck right away! The service was quick and the staff was very inviting and friendly. The Cinnamon Apple Cider Pancakes were delicious and the iced coffee was satisfying. Absolutely worth the price considering the quality of the food, service, and outstanding location.
Don’t hesitate to order the decadent Macadamia pancakes before 11:30am, because you can take the leftovers home after pouring the remaining coconut syrup on top and enjoy the tasty indulgent meal 2 days in a row!
Showed up a bit early, we checked in and were able to walk on the beach while our table was getting ready. This place is always a favorite!
Planning ahead with either reservations or the expectation of enjoying the wait beside the Crystal Cove seashore is a must. A friend and I started with delightful warm beignets and coffee. We followed with a shared plate of Avocado and poached eggs on toast. Scrumptious! This is a destination location so plan on spending leisurely time!
I had one of the specials Sea bass, it was a delight. My Partner ordered the stuffed salmon from menu, Which I enjoyed as my partner preferred my Sea bass. Being April they had the clear plastic sheathing up to protect us from the elements (Wind) We enjoyed our meal. It was not busy on the thursday we were there. Nice guitarist doing covers in dining room.
My husband and myself had a great time.
We have been coming for the last few years
for our Anniversary breakfast. We take a walk
after our breakfast down the beach, it’s a start
of a lovely day. This year was 48 years of marriage.
