Waitress was awful and made the dinner very unpleasant. I didn’t enjoy the food either.
Our server Rachel is Fantastic! We will ask for her every time!
Sashimi thick cut and had gristle lines
Fish was tissue like and gelatinous in middle
Arrived 15 early and was told we could wait for our requested ocean view table - which remained empty and waiting - while we were seated far inside rather than standing around to wait. The table we requested remained empty until just after 6 when someone else was seated in it. If a server is not available for 15 minutes due to service spacing the seat should be offered as a courtesy with an explanation that service will begin at 6
Service was lack luster in general
It was a Sunday. Staff was different than our Friday dining experience. It Felt like it was the B team on Sunday.
We dine at least four times a year during our two trips annually to the island. All prior experiences have been excellent. This one was disappointing.
White tablecloth service at this casual beachfront spot with gorgeous view of the ocean. You pay for the high quality of the food and the high level of service, but if that's what you're into, it's worth it. The mozzarella appetizer was awesome, as was the goat cheese crostini dessert. Pasta special (mushroom ravioli-type dish in a cream sauce) was also very good, as was the fish special (ono). Both could have used more seasoning, but that might be a plus for some people. Very family-friendly atmosphere.
Boy has Beach Tree gone down since the days when Chef Nick revitalized it.
Bad Caesar salad. Inedible thick slabs of kanpachi. Rich, yet remarkably tasteless shrimp risotto. Awful, grainy coconut sorbet that seemed like it had been thawed and frozen repeatedly. Plus, when we left massive parts of our meal on our plates no one bothered to ask why or whether everything was okay.
The Tree at the Beach Tree is new. I wish the kitchen was, too.
Service was rushed. Food was sub par compared to my previous visits. I did come towards the end of dinner service so I understand that the service wouldn’t be as thorough as usual. I have Celiac and felt taken care of, but that the server was annoyed with my requests to make sure my food was safe for me to consume. Unfortunately I have to be very sure that my food is handled safely. The quality of the products is very obvious but compared to previous experiences I was disappointed. I ordered the Caesar, wasn’t offered any fresh pepper. Also tried the hamachi crudo, flavor was very lacking and needed citrus. Entree was the fresh catch and it was very blandly grilled served on top of a mediocre salad with a small spread of aioli to add some flavor. My non-GF partner had a pasta dish and it was enjoyed-tortelli with oxtail. Dessert Bon Bons were impressive as always-melt in your mouth and delicious with a great presentation.
Pricey (but it is Hawai’i) but the food was excellent, the service was top notch and the view was spectacular.
Amazing view of the ocean. Service was excellent, as expected from The Four Seasons!
I though the $40 corkage fee was absolutely outrageous!!! Has to be highest in the country!!
Nikki is an excellent server and she took great care of our table the other night. She was attentive to my 5-year old daughter, which was very much appreciated. We all had a wonderful evening... the food, the ambiance, the experience -- all of it was perfect.
The setting & view couldn't be better, especially for sunset. The greeting was warm & welcoming. Interesting that the hostess asked if we had any food allergies. More restaurants ought to be doing that. The service was friendly and the food, prepared beautifully, came quickly. Yes, it is pricey, but there's no denying Beach Tree is an outstanding dining experience.
Great food wonderful service
We were overall disappointed with our dinner. First of all we requested a table with a good view of the sunset and we were seated at the back of the empty restaurant. After we asked, we were moved closer to the front. One of the highlights afterward was the service. Our server was exceptional. She was knowledgeable, very friendly and her timing was always perfect.
On to the food, the menu was uninspired. Nothing stood out and the food we got was the same. I have to say we’ve been coming to the Beach Tree for almost 10 years, when it was under executive chef James Babian and head chef Nick. The food was always absolutely delicious. It all went downhill after they left a few years ago and despite going back a few times it seems to only be worse.
The food itself wasn’t horrible, but I could have done a better risotto myself and the shrimp were over cooked and bland. They husband fish was good, but nothing creative about it. For the price we expect a lot more, especially when we know how the food used to be. The best food items was the almond pesto that came with the bread. We used to always leave there happily full and looking forward to our next time back. This time we left thinking that we probably will not be coming back, which is too bad since the view, live music and overall setting is so nice.
We loved coming back here. Really enjoyed the music duo. Relaxing atmosphere. Excellent accommodating service by Izzy (Isaiah). We liked the WOW tomatoes the old way, in big pieces, not the finely chopped bruschetta. If you're going to have premium quality tomatoes, don't chop them up. Fritto Misto was excellent, like in Italy: lightly battered tempura-like shrimp and calamari , lemon and fennel (more fennel please! and not the stalk!). Hamachi app good, too.
With such a beautiful setting and friendly, helpful staff, we so wanted to like this restaurant. Instead we were sadly disappointed. Quite frankly, the food was subpar and expensive. Just about everything we ordered lacked seasoning and that along with a burnt lasagna and so so $55 crab risotto, our meals left much to be desired. Thankfully, both the excellent server and manager offered a replacement dinner (Fairly decent chicken and mash) for my husband. All in all, we would have loved a better experience for the money.
Great ambience with a beautiful scenic ocean view and live music. The service was exceptional and stood out the most. Most of all, the food was delicious. The pasta and ribeye were cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend making a visit.
Not the best meal or service we’ve had while here on the big island. Beautiful property, but there are other places to eat on the hotel property and around the island that I would recommend before here.
So nice, went twice during a 5 day stay at the FS Hualalai. Casual food, in a spectacular setting.
Pricey, but worth it. Just make sure it doesnt rain during dinner.
Beach Tree was just what we were looking for to end our honeymoon stay in Hawaii! We arrived earlier, around 5:30pm and enjoyed live music and a beautiful sunset in a nice setting. We enjoyed caesar salad, margherita pizza and the banana split dessert (all delicious). I enjoyed the lava flow non-alcoholic frozen beverage while my husband had the specialty iced tea, both enjoyable. Prices were a little high but to be expected considering the location. After the sunset, we enjoyed the view of the stars from the resort by the beach. Just what we needed before taking off on our flight home that night. Thanks for a great visit!
Smallish menu, but service and ambiance made up for it. Expensive.
One of best dining experiences ever. Go during sunset
What a beautiful location and gazing at the beech tree as the palette of the sunset evolved. Had a delicious martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, shared the calamari appetizer and mushroom pizza. Delicious! Great service too! Highly recommend.
Family oriented - too many kids - not the place for a romantic dinner.
Beautiful location for dinner. We were on our way to the airport but wanted to have a meal here and Danae was very helpful in expediting our dinner without making us feel rushed. THe food was on the expensive side, which we expected for the resort, but I would go back there again just for the view. The unobstructed view of the ocean and the sunset was a unique experience on the island and was worth the price. We would definitely go back again.
The beautiful setting is one reason to visit Beach Tree cafe, but don’t miss the food - it’s all good, but the corn agnolotti, cocoa tortelli, and snapper puttanesca are highlights!
Superb atmosphere and food!!
We came to celebrate my husbands 40th Birthday. It was amazing! The ambience is magical with the ocean so close, the live music playing and a risotto stage! Our server was wonderful and made sure to tel us about all the offerings of the evening. Water glasses were always full and the cocktails and wine were wonderful.
Food was amazing. We shared bites around and nothing disappointed. The tomato and cheese appetizer was delicious, and my daughters shrimp risotto was so much fun. Even the shrimp themselves are farmed on-site.
You can never go wrong with four seasons service but it was the location and ambience that really put things over the top! Thank you!
Mediocre at best. Not worth the money. Not the level of service or food quality that you would expect from Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
Excellent service and food, pricey but generous. It was a wonderful spot for my birthday dinner. The music was also excellent...soft guitar and silky voice in the background really helped set the ambiance. Look forward to our next special occasion!
We enjoyed ourselves but it was noisy
I frequent all of the fine dining restaurants on the Big Island, including Beach Tree. Beach Tree is situated, ocean front, in the Four Seasons Hotel. The menu is primarily Italian and the chef is relatively new and very talented. The food is usually excellent, but our last meal was only fair. My wife ordered the shrimp risotto. The shrimp were locally raised, but were very chewy and not very flavorful. The rice was perfectly cooked but was also bland. The dish definitely needed more spicing. I should also mention that the cocktails are exorbitantly priced (50% more than comparable restaurants). However, the wine list is exceptional and priced fairly.
Food was very good and service was to notch, unfortunately there happened to be allot of children running around and making noise
Beautiful view, stunning food and great service. We started with the roasted beet salad, it was light, flavorful, and didn’t have the typical earthy beet taste. So yummy! Then we had the snapper puttanesca, this dish was OUTSTANDING! We ended with the banana split for 2. What a fun dessert!
Could not imagine a better atmosphere for dinner, live music was nice in the background as were the waves breaking on the nearby shore. Food was tremendous and wait staff worked very well as a team. Only suggestion to Open Table is that it should be listed as a $$$ to $$$$ as only the bar menu has items all under $30. Most dinner entrees were priced in the $40-$50 range.
We've been to Beach Tree several times now and it never disappoints. We were greeted by the valet who gave us umbrellas for a walk to the restaurant as it was lightly raining. We were seated immediately and our waitress was stellar. There are new menu options since we were there last, so we gave them all a try. The corn agnolotti was my favorite. Completely amazing. They do offer half portions of all pastas to allow you to try several. They prepared a special dessert of bon bons for us as well. We were there to celebrate our anniversary and they went above and beyond to make us feel special. We will be back soon!
By far the best service and meal on the Island. The sunset is spectacular. Our server, Cheyenne was amazing and provided the best recommendations which we bang on!
Everything is great. The only complaint is $26 for drinks.
Beautiful restaurant right near the water. Food was excellent. Son had a margharita pizza. Husband and I shared meatball appetizers, beet salad and the mozzarella salad. The mozzarella had a healthy dose of succulent fresh locally grown tomatoes, a beautiful olive oil and balsamic dressing, huge portion of delightful mozzarella cheese and lots of bread. High quality and yes quite pricy, but so are most meals on the island. You get what you pay for and the price was definitely worth the money.
The setting is perfect with views of the beach and th sunset! We had the catch of the day and Tuscan potatoes, which were deep fried and very tasty . Best of all, the service is top notch. Since we were celebrating an anniversary, she brought us a lemon meringue pie that was truly amazing! We highly recommend the Beach Tree for casual dining and for special occasions as well!
Very nice view and atmosphere!! Great service!! Definitely recommend to go there for casual dinner close to beach.
